search for the answers i knew all alongi lost m y s e l f, we all fall downLex sat in the main stairwell, his back up against the wall. It was late-ish, and the staircase was deserted. The wall was cold from the lack of people and the dead air, and he shifted so that he was more comfortable. The tee shirt he was wearing caught on the grain of the wall’s grouting and he shifted again. Finally he was comfortable, with his legs sprawled out across most of the stair. It was quiet, and he liked it that way. He needed to think.
He played thoughtfully with the bracelet on his wrist and thought about the thing that he was trying to forget. He was gay. Well, bi-sexual. That was one thing he wasn’t budging on. When he was with Driz or Jennah, he wanted them just as much as he wanted any guy that he had seen. But he was different with girls now. He wanted to be Driz and Jennah’s friend now. It was different than before, when he didn’t see himself with girl friends, only girlfriends.
He thought back to his time as Alexander. Many people had suspected that he was gay then too. But that was a different time. People weren’t so judgmental of those like him. Especially not of him, because he was the conqueror of half the world and would have them killed on the spot for defying him. He shuddered to think what would happen if anyone on the basketball team found out. They would never let him live with it. His captain position would be taken away. He would be mocked and thrown out of the locker room.
Lex wondered if the others in RSOR suspected him. He felt the heat of blushing creep up his strong neck at the thought of them looking at him differently, disregarding his past leadership. Surely some of them knew something. But no one had said anything, and he wanted to keep it that way. Especially around Skylar. Just the thought of his name made Lex squirm uncomfortably. The genius was the newest object of his secret affections.
Crap. Now Lex was on a roll, and had to physically try to stop thinking of the guy. He hit his knee repeatedly, trying to focus on the pain, anything besides Skylar. It wasn’t working. Finally he gave up and pulled out his trump card. He cleared his throat and began to sing.
It was rough, and deep, and emotional. He sounded like a Scots-man, which was just his intention. He sang a song from Admiral Fallow. A new finding of his that ended up switching his mind from anything to nothing in no time flat.
“It’s that sinkin’ feelin’ o’ bein’ alone. And it’s the way it makes you screech And pulls the skin off your bones…”
He closed his eyes and leaned against the wall, singing his heart out in the empty stairwell, so happy that no one would find him this way. words;; 491, or 469 without lyrics tag;; skylar status;; complete notes;; i think this is my worst start ever.....i pity you. wearing;; CLICKlyrics;; "Without You" by Breaking Benjamin credit;; i.forgive.you @ CAUTION 2.0

And now you wish that you meant somethingAnd now you wish that you meant something to somebody else Skylar had spent most of the year either in class or fixing something, and today was no different. Once classes let out he was either going to let the RSOR kids in or was going to fix something. Seeing as it wasn't a meeting day he was fixing stuff around and at random. Which meant rather than the button down shirt he was wearing a t-shirt that was from an online store he found. It had a bunch of geeky t-shirts and so he was pretty much ordering from it whenever he needed a new one. Being that often enough he burned holes in a shirt or it generally just ripped from something he was doing. Not that big of a deal usually, but sometimes he rather liked the shirts despite the fact that they weren't really what he would wear for every day use. Didn't mean he wouldn't wear them to fix stuff in though. Besides, if he got something on them it didn't usually matter being that they were black t-shirts. Sure he should probably look into getting more fire resistant ones, but until he did these would work. He would probably have to save up for the fire resistant ones anyway being that he couldn't imagine that they were cheap. Though if he got one he supposed he could wash it constantly or something. Just was one of those things he would have to figure out eventually, or he could probably just be more careful. If he had to guess though he was going to say he doubted he would catch fire again. Usually things didn't combust on him so the extra precaution seemed a little unnecessary. This wasn't the first time it had happened, but the last time was more because he was younger and was honestly messing with something he didn't completely understand. Now he was older and knew how most electronics worked, or at least well enough to not catch them on fire. It was just a freak accident and he would just deal with being burnt for a while. Sure it hurt, but he was managing due to taking pain killers quite a bit.
Today was no different from any other day in the fact that he had allotted more time than necessary for certain things. It certainly didn't take him nearly as long as he even remotely thought it would to fix the copier. It was just a simple jam and nothing more. He thought a part might be broken, but apparently not. It just decided to eat a bunch of paper at once and spew toner in a hissy fit while he was fixing it. Which, yes, now he was a bit splattered with copier toner, but he'd wipe it off once he got a minute. Seeing as he would also need a wet cloth of some sort to do so. His shirt would only manage to smear it he was guessing. Thus he went to his locker and then to a water fountain before walking down the hallway trying to get the black toner off of his face. It certainly wasn't going to stay there that was for sure. Skylar cared way too much about looking presentable for him to leave it there. He was pretty sure most other people couldn't care less, but eh he was a bit of an odd high schooler. Then again, he was also Thomas Edison, and thus older than he appeared by quite a bit. That didn't completely explain his need to be neat though. No, he was just a tad vain really. That was the only explanation that was needed honestly. He just cared about his appearance quite a bit for a boy. Ah well, no big deal to him and besides, it wasn't like caring about how you looked was a bad thing.
It was about then that he heard the singing. It caught his attention as he walked down the hallway attempting to rub toner from his cheek. So he followed the sound and found himself at the bottom of the stairwell looking at Lex. Well, that wasn't what he was expecting, but he supposed he wasn't going to complain. It was certainly someone he could talk to. The other boy was an RSOR leader just as Skylar was. He was pretty sure that the previous war leader hadn't noticed him yet, and was debating on sneaking up on him. Though he didn't want to be swatted, and he also didn't want Lex falling down the stairs seeing as he would probably feel bad about it later. Ah well, really nothing he could do unless he just wanted to leave. So thus he leaned against a wall of the stairwell, with his good side that is, and gave a slight clapping. "I didn't know you could sing Lex." he commented simply. Well, it was true, he didn't know the other male senior leader could sing, and it was some form of a greeting he supposed. Probably not the best one, but he could have snuck up the stairs and poked his side or whatever instead. Which he doubted would have been appreciated. This way it didn't look like Edison purposely snuck up on him, and hopefully Lex wouldn't get too angry about the incident. He was in the middle of the main stairwell after all. Even if it was after hours students were still around doing projects or getting help from a teacher.

search for the answers i knew all alongi lost m y s e l f, we all fall downLex was in his own little world. The melody of the song flowed through his head, and he could almost hear the harmonies behind him. What he didn’t hear was the footsteps. He didn’t hear a thing, until the soft clapping startled him. His eyes snapped open at the same time his mouth snapped shut. The world conqueror was going to die right there. It would be a waste of a second life, but he couldn’t stand the bad luck. He knew that voice. Skylar. Lex, of course, was right, and the dirty blonde mastermind was standing before him, well, more leaning, with a quizzical twist to his brow.
“I didn’t know you could sing Lex.” His voice was barely surprised. Then again (Lex tried very hard to deny that he knew this) Skylar was never really surprised about anything. He was a calm guy, more intent on his repair jobs and his inventions than anything.
Lex blushed, and he looked at his feet. There was a smudge on Skylar’s face, and Lex had to control the urge to stand up and wipe the damn thing off. The only way to keep himself from blushing further or staring was to look at his new sneakers and hope they could keep his attention from Edison.
“T-Thanks Tom,” he stuttered and mentally cursed himself. He sounded like some shy school girl. This would never do. He was trying to keep his crush a secret, and acting like some infatuated little boy wouldn’t help anything. He cleared his throat and grinned in what he hoped was a confident and cocky way. “I’ve been practicing just for you. Glad you liked it. Otherwise the work would’ve been for nothing.”
He lumbered to his feet and looked down at the leaning genius. They were usually the same height, and it felt strange for Lex to be looking down at him. He scratched the back of his head awkwardly, and took in the appearance of Skylar. Besides the smudge of something that looked like ink, and his usually artfully disheveled hair, he was wearing a tee shirt instead of his customary - and adorable - button up shirt, and Lex knew that meant he was working on something.
“So,” he started, searching desperately for something to say and finally deciding that his work would be best. “Invent anything interesting lately?”
He winced at the sound of his comment. It was more a pick up line than anything. He hoped desperately that Skylar wouldn’t notice, and would actually tell him about the things he had been doing in his work. Lex could confidently say that was interested in his inventions. More interested in anything he had thought about for a long time. words;; 455 tag;; skylar/cal status;; complete notes;; i am sooo tired.... wearing;; CLICK lyrics;; "Without You" by Breaking Benjamin credit;; i.forgive.you @ CAUTION 2.0

And now you wish that you meant somethingAnd now you wish that you meant something to somebody else Skylar had guessed that Lex would stop the minute he knew he was there, and was glad he got to hear a bit before announcing his presence. He was pretty sure that the other male would also be rather irritated if he had just stood there and listened the entire time. After all it was a bit different from how most people got to see him. Ah well, the younger RSOR member would get over it eventually he imagined. Not like it was the end of the world or anything. Seeing as it wasn't as if Skylar was going to run off and tell everyone about it if Lex really didn't want anyone knowing. He didn't imagine he did want them to know at any rate. Especially being that Lex had just started blushing about it too. Definitely had taken him by surprise, and it was kinda worth it being that he was pretty sure that Lex didn't blush very often. Hey, for once it wasn't him doing the blushing. Which, Edison had to admit, he really did a lot of for a straight guy. Didn't being straight mean he should only blush when girls said things or walked in on him? Apparently not for him it didn't being that he had blushed quite a bit when Oliver had walked in on him in his boxers. He noted that Lex was staring at his shoes and wondered why he found it so embarrassing that he had heard him singing. If he didn't want anyone to hear he should have gone into his room or something not sat in the stairwell. It made considerably more sense to do that, but that was in Skylar's mind and it was possible Lex thought everyone had gone home for the day. He should figure out that Skylar usually stuck around after pretty quick though if this became a regular thing.
He heard Lex thank him using Tom rather than Skylar and he was a bit surprised by that. "You're welcome, and I think you're the only one that calls me that." he noted simply. It was no big deal if Lex called him Tom. Thomas was his middle name after all so it didn't even look remotely suspicious. Besides, nobody was around anyway other than them. Not that Skylar could see anyway. Then of course he had to go and say that he had been practicing just for him. Thus, Skylar was blushing and gave a light glare. He really hated it when the other boy did that. "Oh y-you're hilarious." he stuttered a bit then stuck his tongue out at Lex. He wasn't really mad, he just hated it when people made him blush. Especially when it was guys seeing as he was pretty sure he was straight and thus that shouldn't be happening. That was quite the switch though, and it made more sense anyway so it didn't matter too much. It was weird for Lex to be stuttering and blushing after all, it wasn't abnormal for Skylar to do so though. Didn't mean he liked things that way, but it was just how it worked. So thus the genius boy would just have to accept it and either get used to the comments or learn not to blush at every one of them. Which would not be an easy task seeing as it was kind of a habit to do so and it wasn't really something anyone could control. He may just stop caring at some point and thus not blush anymore, but until that time came he imagined everyone would continue amusing themselves by making him blush like a school girl. Which, he really hated comparing himself to, but he had nothing else in mind that blushed as much as him or a little school girl.
He noticed that Lex was standing now and it really was odd to look up at him being that the two of them were pretty much the same height. Which meant neither of them would typically have to look in either direction. They may be the same height, but that was the only thing that was similar about their build. You could tell quite simply that Lex played sports and Skylar definitely didn't. Sure he had some arm muscles from carrying computers, but that was about it. Only running he could do was because he had long legs, and definitely couldn't keep it up for very long. He'd found that out running around with Petra and Isa not too long ago. He was pretty sure both of them were in some type of sports and thus he had ended up winded way before they did and had to sit down. No big deal though being that he told them ahead of time he was terrible at sports. Then Lex was talking again and it dragged Skylar from this thoughts. He had to give a slight sigh to the question. "The only thing I've invented is a fingerprint scanner that burns off your fingerprints." he said with a frown. He was definitely not pleased about that certainly being that he wanted it to scan your fingerprint not burn it off. If it was a pick up line then obviously he had missed it. It sounded like a normal question being that he was technically an inventor of sorts in his past life. "If you were asking why I am in a t-shirt right now though I was fixing the copier. It was jammed. I'm done now though was actually going to go change." he said with a shrug. He figured he covered both meanings of that question now and thus Lex should be satisfied with that answer. If not then Alexander the Great needed to be more specific with his questions.

search for the answers i knew all alongi lost m y s e l f, we all fall downLex was surprised that no one called Skylar by his first life’s given name. It seemed like the logical thing to do for RSOR members, to acknowledge the comradeship of the two involved. Was Sky not that close to anyone, that no one was calling him Tom? He flushed crimson once again, wondering instead if the young man didn’t want to be called that. It was a rather personal nickname, and Lex couldn’t help but notice the rather surprised look on his face. It was endearing but unnerving.
“Do you not w-want me to call you Tom?” Lex asked shakily, and realized that their conversation was soon turning into an all stuttering and blushing fest. If anyone were to come upon them they would find two blushing, stuttering messes. Then the speculation would start flying like snow. He shoved his hands into his pockets and looked down at the genius through his lashes. “I can call you Skylar, or whatever.”
He hunched his shoulders slightly as he looked at the older boy, realizing that he was noticeably bigger than the genius. Compared to Lex’s pure bulk and brute strength, Skylar was very slight. The whiz kid was thin but wiry. His hands were very long fingered and delicate. They could work with the smallest of wires and gears, and carry the big computer towers that he worked on constantly.
“Oh y-you’re hilarious.” Lex smiled a wide smile at Skylar. His embarrassment was cute. There was a part of Lex that wanted to see him blush more. It meant that Skylar wanted Lex to think well of him. And Lex wanted Skylar to think well of him. Even if Skylar didn’t know why.
Lex smirked shyly and kicked an invisible pebble. His balance was off and he had to shuffle a bit to stay standing upright. “I try to be funny. It doesn’t always work out the best.”
He listened carefully to Skylar as he explained his newest ‘invention.’ His eyebrows pinched together as he frowned. The fact that he was willing to put himself in danger for his inventions was very admirable, but very troubling. The image of Sky’s delicate hands bleeding and blistering was disturbing at the least. “Are your hands okay? If you need a different test subject, you can sign me up.”
Lex held out his hands. One palm up, one palm down. His hands were large and rough and tan, palms the size of catcher’s mitts. They were calloused and scratched up from the sports and the working out and the obsessive cleaning. They were handsome hands. Not beautiful and artful, like Skylar’s.
“My hands aren’t anything special,” he joked, twisting his wrists to show of each side of his hands and his short, clean nails.
A copy machine? Lex’s cruel ego wanted to laugh, but he restrained himself. He felt sad that that was all Sky’s talents were being used for. He ended up smiling sadly, and he let his hands swing awkwardly to his sides. “Change? Why? This is a good look for you.”
Lex blushed furiously and looked at his feet again. “You know…I guess.” Great cover, man. And now you wish that you meant somethingAnd now you wish that you meant something to somebody else Most people honestly either called him Skylar or Edison. Though truth be told he wasn't that friendly with most people. Sure he talked to them and was polite, but he had to admit nobody actually knew him that well. Well, Lex and Petra probably did being that they had all been on the leader's panel for over a year so it made sense that they were closer than any other group. Still though nobody called him Tom, but that was probably because they thought it was informal to do so. Whatever though if Lex really wanted to call him that then he would certainly be fine with it. He noted that the younger boy had flushed again and was curious as to if it was just embarrassment of calling him a name he wasn't used to. Then again Fox called him Skywalker so really he should be used to random names by now. He heard the question and shrugged a bit. "Doesn't bother me any." he said simply. Really it didn't and he didn't want Lex to think it did. "I don't care either way, it's just most either use Skylar or Edison." he said quietly after making sure nobody was in ear shot. Nobody was here after all so it wasn't hard to make sure they weren't in a hearing range. He wasn't sure why people just chose those two names when they could pick a whole bunch of other nicknames or something, but it might have something to do with him not really being close to any of them. Well, alright, Fox called him Skywalker, but that was another situation entirely. Fox got his own category simply because he was a very odd case, and also one of his new roommates. He didn't mind though just so long as the boy didn't try and irritate him. Which, it didn't seem he did so thus it worked out for all three of them being that they were all polite and got along even if it was just because they weren't really showing their true colors. Well, he was pretty sure Fox was, but that was beside the point. Fox was generally easy to get along with, Skylar, on the other hand, could be a bit of a pain at times. He knew that and he openly admitted it. Why try and deny the fact?
Skylar had to admit that it was a bit funny even if it did embarrass him to some extent. He kinda deserved it for sneaking up on Lex like that. Wasn't exactly polite of him, but hey he had been around Lex enough to be a little impolite at times. "It depends I suppose on the crowd and what it is you're trying to be funny about." he mused thinking about it a bit. Then of course he answered the younger boy's question about inventions and it seemed he wasn't too pleased about something. Sky didn't find it to be too big of a deal if he accidentally burnt off a fingerprint or two, but it seemed that Lex didn't feel the same way. Especially not with his next question. "Yeah they're fine. I'm just missing a few fingerprints. Three I think, and if you really want to test it next time I suppose you can. I could also always test it on Oliver." he said with a shrug. Usually he tested it on himself because he didn't want to accidentally injure anyone else. "Hopefully next time it actually works. I just need to figure out the wiring and it will be fine." he noted thinking about it a little bit. No reason he couldn't contemplate it a little in his head while still paying attention to Lex and the rest of the conversation. He noted that Lex and him were quite different. Sky had burn marks while the younger boy had marks from normal things like playing sports. "I have scars as it is anyway, a few more wont make too much of a difference." he stated simply. It didn't bother him either way being that mostly he could just wear gloves and long sleeves so nobody noticed. Though you could see them in the t-shirt he was currently wearing, and thus why he didn't particularly like wearing t-shirts.
Then of course he heard Lex mention that this was a good look for him. Er, well that was a kind of random statement despite the fact that Skylar had mentioned he was going to go change at some point. "er...thanks?" he said blushing again and not sure what exactly to reply to that. Seemed it had just slipped out too being that Lex was rather embarrassed himself it seemed. "I just don't find t-shirts and jeans comfortable usually honestly." he said feeling the need to explain why he only worked in such outfits rather than wear them all the time. Besides, he was pretty sure there was toner all over his shirt and he didn't want to smear it onto his skin or something on accident in case it decided it hadn't dried yet. Though it was entirely possible it had gone through his shirt and thus he would have to wash it off when he got back to his dorm anyway. Whatever though he'd figure it out when the time came. "Anyway, what were you up to just sitting in the stairwell?" he asked trying to change the subject away from himself so he could possibly stop blushing for a few minutes. That was what he really didn't like about conversations with most people, he ended up blushing half the time because of things they said. Most of the time he was pretty sure they didn't mean to do it and the rest he swore they did it on purpose. Lex, he was thinking, did it partially on purpose and partially on accident. It wasn't that he minded too much, but really it did make it hard to hold up his end of the conversation.

search for the answers i knew all alongi lost m y s e l f, we all fall downLex could’ve died then and there and been more happy than he had been in his entire two lives. Just the look on Skylar’s face told him that he was embarrassed and confused about what the young conqueror had said. All the giant wanted to do was melt into the floor and never come back. At least not until Skylar was gone. Or several countries over if he was lucky. There was no way he was going to be able to shake this if he didn’t put his game face on and act more like a man. A dude. A big, hunky, buff dude that likes chicks, and spitting, and playing basketball. Yeah.
He took one look into Skylar’s brown eyes and gulped. This was going to be harder than he thought. But damn if he wasn’t going to try as hard as he was physically capable. He furrowed his eyebrows and put on a smirk.
“I love tee shirts and jeans, man.” He gestured down to his body and struck a pose, flexing like Hercules. His cockiness was over in a second, and he felt a little guilty that he was trying and lying so hard. He put his arms back down by his sides and tried to look more at ease, more normal. He didn’t want to scare the poor little genius. Lord knows, a big man who is acting all crazy would make any person afraid, or at least weird them out. “They are soft and comfortable, and they are easy to move in.”
He laughed, and it sounded a little forced, even in his own head. But he cracked another grin and stared into Skylar’s eyes, urging himself to look cool, collected, distant. He fought with himself deeply for a few minutes, urging himself to be as normal as he would with any girl that he had met recently. All of a sudden, he took a deep breath, and was the composed conqueror of half the world. He knew that something as simple and unnecessary as physical attraction shouldn’t hinder him from making a lasting relationship. He glanced at Skylar’s tee shirt for a second and let out a deep giggle.
“Man,” he started off, scratching his chocolate locks lazily. “You may not like tees, but you sure know how to pick them!” Alexander pointed at the black clothe that covered the inventor’s torso. “That shirt is so you! You must have had it made special.”
There, that was a normal sentence, a normal start to a conversation. He felt pleased with himself, and it showed in another calm smile. Maybe they could be acquaintances. At least until Alexander figured out his growing feelings for the young man before him. He slouched against the wall, far down, his legs dangerously sprawled out before him. One more inch out, and Alexander would be on the floor, tailbone hurting like an SOB.
“You seriously gotta tell me where you got that shirt.” Alexander’s voice was still calm, still relaxed, with a slightly amused upturn. He thought thoroughly for a few moments, weighing every possible known pro and con of his next action. He leaned forward quickly and punched Skylar, light enough to be a fake tap, on his right side, and smirked. “You at least gotta let me borrow it.”
But that was when Lex slinked back into the picture. There was a bandage hidden behind that soft black tee shirt, and there were a few bumps and what felt like blisters. He could feel them under his hands before he pulled back his fist. “Tommy, what happened to you?” Lex whispered, his eyes riddled with concern. words;; 609 tag;; skylar/cal status;; complete notes;; poor sky....poor lex.....poor everyone wearing;; CLICKlyrics;; "Without You" by Breaking Benjamin credit;; i.forgive.you @ CAUTION 2.0

And now you wish that you meant somethingAnd now you wish that you meant something to somebody else So maybe Lex didn't understand that most people didn't call him by any sort of nickname, but hey if he really wanted to use a nick name then the genius wasn't going to stop him. Not like he really could though he supposed he could ask. No promises that it would happen. Besides, he really didn't mind. It made him feel like Lex was actually his friend rather than just a formal and polite acquantence like most everyone else. Sky honestly didn't have any idea why this conversation was so awkward, but as far as he was concerned it needed to stop. One of them needed to start talking about something that wouldn't make the other feel odd. Though really that was pretty much hard being that they weren't really into the same things. Sky obviously wasn't one for sports, and he doubted that Lex really wanted to hear him talk about inventions and electronics all day. If it wasn't your thing then it could become dull and confusing really fast. Just like he found sports to be comfusing at times. Sure he knew what was going on, it was more that he didn't see the point of it. He supposed he could always have someone explain the point, but that seemed like something that would be rather boring. Hearing Lex state that he loved t-shirts and jeans, Skylar just shrugged. "I prefer button down shirts and slacks. No idea why, but they're just comfortable for me" he said then raising an eyebrow at the flexing. It seemed like a little much really. Slightly ridiculous, but at least it wasn't them blushing anymore. Seeing as that was just a bit odd for both of them. Hearing Lex's reason for liking them Skylar just gave a bit of a shrug. "They're easy to move in sure, that's why I work in them. They just don't look professional." he said simply. That was the real issue Skylar had with them. He cared too much about looking professional.
It seemed that Lex had finally read Skylar's t-shirt being that while he was looking at it a giggle came from the formor concueror. Well, it was true. Skylar was there because someone broke something. It may not necessarily be Lex, but still it was a pretty accurate t-shirt most of the time if a teacher or something asked him why he was still in this part of the building or whatever. Usually the looks they gave him were priceless being that he would give some polite answer and then they would look at his shirt. Made it slightly amusing for him, maybe not for them but he could pretend to be unamused quite easily. "I actually didn't have it made special. There's a bunch like it on a site I order from frequently" he noted with a bit of a shrug. Hey, at least the conversation was going in a different direction now. Which, Skylar was very much content with and he was glad Lex had changed the subject to something else. Something that was consierably less awkward to talk about. Just where he got his t-shirt and how it fit him perfectly personality wise. So yeah he could be a bit of a wise ass at times, but hey when he had to fix things constantly it called for a shirt that stated why he was around so late all the time. He had quite a few with these random geek sayings on them. Sure some people wouldn't get all of them, but a few would and that was the point. They weren't all made for everyone to get them. Just to satisfy the geek within some people to get a chuckle or something out of them. Maybe make their day a little more tolerable. That was the important thing after all. Just making it through the day without snapping on someone. Sure Skylar failed at that sometimes, but it wasn't his fault he had a terrible temper.
Hearing Lex wonder about where he got the shirt Skylar blinked. It really didn't seem like his type of thing. "I got it on a website called think geek actually." he said simply. He was pretty sure if Lex had just google searched the shirt he would have found it, but if he really wanted to know then Skylar was perfectly fine with telling him. Then, of course, the former Alexander the Great had to hit where his burn was. Which, while it was only a tap, it still hurt like it was on fire. His one hand flew to his side and he jumped back a bit only to realize that he was on the edge of the stairs now. As a reflex he reached out and grabbed Lex's shirt, but that was just going to end up with both of them falling down the stairs. He had heard the statement of letting Lex borrow the shirt, but was kind of in pain and thus wasn't going to answer that right now. Though he doubted him and the younger boy were even the same shirt size. That wasn't the point though. He also heard the whisper of asking what happened to him. He couldn't currently answer that either because he was too busy dragging both of them down a flight of stairs. Well, that was going to be unpleasant once they hit the bottom. He didn't really want to think about that, but he didn't have much choice seeing as the fall wouldn't be lasting more than a few seconds. What he really hoped though was that Lex didn't land on his burn being that he might just end up shouting a stream of nonsense in French. The boy was French Canadian after all, and it just happened as a reflex pretty often.

search for the answers i knew all alongi lost m y s e l f, we all fall downLex felt himself be pulled down the stairs by the genius, and instantly regretted punching him in the side. The pain of just that small, innocently thought out touch, must have surprised the inventor so fully, that he forgot their small enclosure, and reacted instinctively against the spark of discomfort. Internally yelling at himself for not foreseeing that Sky may have jumped, he opened his eyes wide and inhaled a gasp like he was going to go under water. Lex could already feel the anxiety creep into his lungs like a virus, and they weren’t even over the stair yet. This would not be pleasant.
They hung on the edge of the stair for what felt like eternity as the gravity that tugged on Sky’s slight weight battled with the pure mass that was Lex. In reality it was less than a second that they stood there, poised awkwardly, and staring into each others eyes in fear. Gravity and Sky miraculously won out, and they began the excruciating decent down twenty-six stone steps to the bottom of the staircase. Lex squeezed his eyes shut and exhaled every bit of air in his body, praying to lose consciousness before they started falling. He didn’t get his wish, not by far.
Lex could feel each place of impact, each devastating blow to his body. Rib, head, arm, knee cap, all were bruised and bloodied and bashed on the way down to the mercifully flat landing. Strangely enough, though he felt the strikes to his body, he felt no pain afterwards. He supposed numbly that it was all the adrenaline coursing its way through his panicking body. He praised God for creating the perfect defense system against all the torturous agony of pain. All he felt was the horribly gut-pulling vertigo that was erupting in his stomach. If these stairs went on for much longer, he may be sick. Then Lex’s heart fell when he thought of what would happen when all his adrenaline had stopped, and he was left to deal with the aftermath of this tumble.
Truthfully, and awfully, Lex had forgotten about the genius that was falling by his side up until halfway down the stairs. A full two seconds had passed, and all he had thought of was himself. His ego was swelling happily at the use it was getting, and then automatically shrunk back in a whiplash as Skylar popped into Lex’s mind. Lex felt awful, and he didn’t dare want to think of what shape the inventor would be in. He whimpered out loud, and by this, noticed that he was biting his lip so hard that he could taste the metallic tang of blood. If Lex was doing this horribly, what would happen to poor Skylar? The thought of the thin body of the inventor, crumpled and hurt made Lex want to cry out in frustration and guilt, but he kept his lips shut for the rest of the way down.
Was this divine punishment for his attractions to the young Edison? It must have been so. Lex accepted this and his feelings for the inventor, took it in his stride, and in turn took each of the punishments the staircase was dealing him.
Finally, with a thud that made Lex’s bones rattle and his spine ache like he had been kicked a million times, he hit the bottom of the staircase, and laid there. It had taken a full five seconds for them to less-than-gracefully descend the staircase. Those five seconds had felt like a year.
Lex moved quickly onto his back and sprawled out, arms and legs as far as he could so that no part of him was touching another, before the pain could make itself known in his body. He finally let his lower lip go from between his grinding teeth, and felt the warmth and stickiness of blood running slowly down his chin. A low, grumbling groan escaped his throat and chest, and he couldn’t help the whimper that faded along at the end. Here it comes, he wept inwardly and his body began to shake.
It started slowly, from his spine, and then forward to his ribs, and then all at once it flared up like a forest fire. He opened his eyes wide and took some short, gasping breaths. Well this sucked.
To distract himself, he looked over to where he saw Skylar laying. He couldn’t tell if the other boy was okay, but reached out a hand to the closest part of him he could touch. Lex grabbed Sky’s wrist and squeezed it.
“Tom,” Lex whispered thickly, and licked his bloody lips. A tear ran down his cheek, but he didn’t move to wipe it away. It ran down in a dry and salty trail into his hair. God this sucked. Everything was burning and aching and flaring at once. And now you wish that you meant somethingAnd now you wish that you meant something to somebody else Sky really needed to work on his reflexes. You would think that by now he would be used to burns and thus the pain that came from tapping them. Apparently though he wasn't seeing as he had jumped and grabbed onto Lex to possibly balance himself. That wasn't working though because not even a second later he was tumbling backwards down the stairs. He let go of Lex's shirt so he didn't end up with the younger male on top of him. Seeing as that would just cause more pain in the end. Though he doubted that falling down the stairs would be pleasant in the slightest. Not going to be the first time he fell down the stairs sure, but it would be the first time he fell down them backwards. Usually it was because he was tripped and just ended up sliding down them, but caught the railing in time for it to not be too bad. This time though he went tumbling down backwards. Mostly it was just surprise at falling that had him. Caused his heart to speed up and his breath to catch. His eyes widened and he saw Lex's do the same before he let go of him. Which, was the last sight he saw seeing as he decided he would just close his eyes and let himself fall. No use trying to stop himself seeing as he would just get injured more if he tried. Panic caused people to do things they shouldn't. Sometimes it was better to simply let yourself fall naturally. Though out of reflex his one hand went to his right side. Actually, he was pretty sure it had already been there from when Lex tapped him. Seeing as it already felt like it was on fire, but for the moment it seemed that had just slipped his mind. Which, he didn't mind in the slightest, but he would soon enough being that more pain would be caused. Though if his hand stayed there maybe it wouldn't end up too bad? Ah well, he could only hope.
The first thing he felt was his back hit the stairs and the wind was pretty much instantly knocked out of him. From that moment he knew this was not going to be an easy trip down the stairs. The back of his head hit and then he rolled over and hit his ankle oddly before rolling down the rest of the stairs and doing another roll at the bottom to end up landing on his back rather dizzy. Which would be why he left his eyes shut for a moment. Because if he opened them he was definitely positive that it would be spinning quite a bit. Well, that and he took a rather lovely hit to the head so that couldn't be helping any. At least, he couldn't imagine it was. He wasn't sure whether or not he was bleeding, but he could figure it out in a minute. For now though it seemed other pain distracted from his side feeling like it was on fire again. Which, he knew what being on fire felt like so he could accurately compare it to such a thing. That wasn't the point though. The point was that he was in pain and had the wind knocked out of him. Honestly that was one of the more panic inducing feelings. Made you feel like you couldn't breathe, which technically you couldn't being that the wind was knocked out of you. Which, since he knew how to fix it he tried to take slow deep breaths and it kind of wasn't working. Usually took a few moments to work. So he waited and was soon able to breathe normally again. Still hurt though and he was still attempting to catch up on lost breathing. Which took a few more moments. It was around then that he started noticing all the pains he had. Most notable were the ones that were on his head, his burnt side, and his ankle. Which, he was going to guess would probably swell. Awesome, another thing he had to worry about. Thinking his head had finally stopped spinning, he opened his eyes and let the ceiling come back into focus. It took a moment, but at least he wasn't dizzy anymore.
Feeling a squeeze on his wrist he blinked and looked over to see Lex. He forgot about the younger male for a moment there. Apparently he had dragged both of them down the stairs, but there wasn't much he could do about it now. Hearing the whisper he looked at Lex. He figured that was answer enough, but apparently it wasn't seeing as Lex called him Tommy again and asked if he was okay. "I'll tell you what I told Oliver the other day. It depends on your definition of okay" he said simply. Sure it was probably not the answer Lex wanted, but really you needed to be more specific when asking Skylar such things. "Anything injured enough to be worried about?" he asked before sitting up and running the free hand through his hair. Sure his side still hurt, and he winced slightly when he sat up, but he could deal with it. It was entirely possible he had popped a blister, but he wasn't worried about it. Would have happened eventually anyway, might as well happen now. "To answer your earlier question though. I accidentally caught myself on fire while working on something." he said with a bit of a sigh. He rubbed a hand over the back of his head and winced a bit before pulling it away and looking at it. Well, it wasn't bleeding, and so he wasn't concerned. He was pretty sure he didn't hit his head hard enough to cause a concussion, thus for the most part he supposed he was fine. Just a side that continued to be injured, and possibly a swollen ankle. Wouldn't stop him from doing anything that was for sure. Would just have to put ice on it when he got back to his room. Which, he may have to hop back to. Either that or limp, depended on how much it hurt to do so. That took standing up to find out though, and Lex still had a hold of his wrist so he didn't really feel like pulling on him in case he was injured.

search for the answers i knew all alongi lost m y s e l f, we all fall downThe first thing Lex noticed through the now dulling pain was that the floor was blessedly ice cold. It helped to numb the rest of the pain that was washing over him. Everything was right side up and good with his vision and his thinking, and now he realized, as the shock of the adrenaline wearing off left him, that it wasn’t as bad as he initially thought. He was mostly really sore. But there was a sharp pain under his left pec, and he could already tell that one of his ribs had broken. Also, something lovely warm and sticky was running down his temple, not to mention his bitten lip which was also bleeding. Other than that, he was just shaken up.
After taking this short and very quick mental and physical evaluation of himself, he noticed that he was still holding Sky’s wrist. Embarrassed at his own pain, and the apparent lack of pain that the other boy had, he quickly let go, and tried to hide himself from the older boy’s view as he wiped the salty tears of shock from his face. No good to look like a pansy in front of the guy you wanted to impress. He sat up, and as soon as he did, he groaned quite loudly, but he was strong enough to hold back a good scream.
“Son of a bitch,” he started, and then he was off, swearing up a verbal storm in every language he knew, dead or not, as he put his right hand carefully over his left side ribs. His chest was swelling rapidly already, and he could feel the heat of the bruising and pain emanating through his tee shirt. It seemed like all of the blood in his body was pulsing to that exact point, reminding him unhelpfully of exactly where he was hurting. Well, all of the blood that wasn’t running out of his forehead and his chin. Yep, definitely a broken rib. Or two.
He wiped off his chin with the back of his hand, and then sacrificed his favorite jeans to wipe the blood off his quivering hand. It would take a lot of soaking and pre-treating to get it out later on. Oh well. Sometimes you had to make sacrifices to be more comfortable, and jeans were something that Lex could get more of. The thought of a shopping trip was daunting and unpleasant, because finding good jeans like these could take hours. Pushing those unimportant thoughts aside, he touched his temple lightly, feeling the broken skin, more crimson staining his fingers, which in turn, stained his jeans.
Lex chuckled when he heard Skylar’s reply to his request if he was okay. It was a very vague and philosophical answer, so Thomas Edison, that he couldn’t help but laugh. Except that the laughing made his side flare up. He winced in pain and gave another chuckling groan. “Oh, man. Don’t make me laugh.”
“Anything injured enough to be worried about?”
Sky’s question made him think once more about his physical condition. He “took stock” one more time. His head was bleeding, but the cut was shallow and small, more like extreme floor burn. The blood running from his lip was already stopped, and he smiled grotesquely, his teeth pink. The only thing that was killing him was his side.
“Truth be told,” he said, trying to sound serious, but failing miserably. He rolled his shoulders, ignoring his side as he checked everything else. “I feel like I’ve been hit by a car. Is it wrong for me to say that?”
He chuckled again, but his side flared up again, and he instantly sobered up. This was no laughing matter anymore. There was something seriously wrong with his side, and if he didn’t get it checked out, something bad could happen to his internal organs, or whatever.
“Ah damn it, Sky,” Lex hissed as he struggled to his knees. His side was throbbing, and he didn’t think that there was much he could do to stop it without some bandages and a brace. “Does it look as bad as it feels?”
He lifted up his shirt, and winced painfully, eyes shutting tight. He knew that the pain would affect his view of the injury, instantly making it look worse than it actually was. The only thing he could do was ask Skylar to tell him what his own biased eyes couldn’t see. There was no part of him that was thinking about the sexual connotations of him lifting up his shirt. He just wanted the inventor’s honest opinion of whether his ribs were broken.
His abdominal muscles clenched painfully as his chest throbbed again. He sighed, wishing he could let out the laugh bubbling in his chest when Skylar told him that he had set himself on fire. Part of him found the thought completely hilarious. And part of him was aching and throbbing with the thought of the inventor being on fire. It was an image that he didn’t want in his head. But now it was stuck. The flames attacking the body of the genius. Lex didn’t like it at all, so he forced himself to make light of it.

And now you wish that you meant somethingAnd now you wish that you meant something to somebody else Now, there was definitely something to the fact that Sky didn't even notice he was bleeding in multiple locations. Either he was still in shock and running on adrenaline, or he had been shocked a few too many times. Or, hell, maybe he was just used to getting injured and was used to ignoring the pain. Sure it was in the back of his mind, but his burn had been throbbing for days now and thus he was used to just ignoring the pain by distracting himself with something else. Which, right now he was distracting himself with paying more attention to Lex. Seeing as falling face first down the stairs was probably more likely to cause serious injury. Especially if he had tried to catch himself which Skylar didn't. He just kinda went with rolling down the stairs. Which also might have something to do with the fact that he had less injuries. Or did he? Right now he thought he did, though he definitely had a lump on the back of his head. Didn't hit it quite right to draw blood though there. He heard the swearing and blinked a bit while Lex got it out. Might as well do it now rather than later. "Er...sorry." he apologized seeing as it was his fault the boy went down the stairs. His wrist seemed to be released now though and he looked down to notice that his arm had blood dripping down it. "I feel extremely unobservant" he said noting the fact that the back of his arm was bleeding a decent amount. It wasn't a bad cut, but he couldn't really tell from the blood. He might need stitches, or he might not. He wasn't an expert. Looking at his other arm he noticed the same thing. Now he really felt unobservant. Definitely had a feeling that there was something not quite right with his nerves. There wasn't really anything that could be done about that though. Just had to deal with it and hope he didn't go completely numb eventually.
Hearing Lex laugh then groan, Edison winced slightly. He hadn't meant to be funny, and now Lex was telling him not to make him laugh. "Yeah, it hurts when I laugh too, but it's been like that. I just think it hurts more now." he said with a sigh. He wasn't going to test that though at the moment being that he didn't want to start swearing in French. That wouldn't do them any good at this point after all. He waited for Lex to answer his question because it was possible that the younger boy didn't know how injured he was. Thus he was going to wait and see what happened. He was pretty sure that he could just go back to his dorm and fix himself up from what he noticed, but Lex he wasn't sure about. Hearing Lex talk again he looked at him and cracked his neck. Skylar chuckled and winced with a few French curses. "No, I feel like I was set on fire and pushed down the stairs. Go ahead and say you feel like you got hit by a car." he said with a bit of a shrug and a light smile. After though he noticed that Lex seemed to stop laughing and instead swore and said his name. He looked over with a bit of a confused expression and heard the next statement. He blushed slightly and then looked. The genius was already a little pale as it was and this wasn't helping. "I'm p-pretty sure at least one of your ribs may be broken." he said stuttering a little. He put a hand against his own side again to try and stop the pain and was surprised to feel it a little damp. Pulling his hand away he saw it was red. Well, that was definitely not good. It meant his burn did more than just pop a blister. He'd worry about that in a bit though seeing as he was pretty sure Lex was more injured at the moment. Though it was entirely possible that he broke something on one of his legs without noticing yet.
"Yep, I would and I did. Wasn't on purpose hell I was surprised as hell when I noticed. Ended up throwing the phone across the room." he said with a sigh. Then of course he had the whole awkward moment of Oliver walking in on Skylar in his boxers with a fire extinguisher. Not to mention that Sky had been sipping tea in the bathtub while cold water ran over his burn. He may leave that bit out though because even talking about it was going to embarrass the hell out of him. He'd had quite enough embarrassment for one day too so that was definitely out of the question. Though now they had to go to the hospital. Which was going to be an unpleasant wait for hours on end. "I suppose we should get to the hospital." he said with a sigh. He then moved his knees back for him to push himself up and found himself nearly blinded by pain. Well, looked like he wasn't going to be standing up and instead was stringing together a bunch of nonsense in both English and French. So yeah, apparently he had twisted his knee. He was majorly unobservant today that was for sure. Well, now what was he supposed to do? He certainly couldn't walk, and honestly he didn't want to call an ambulance. That would cause a huge commotion and he was still conscious and thus would be embarrassed by it. Though right now he didn't really see another alternative that would be less embarrassed by. Which might mean he would have to suck it up.

search for the answers i knew all alongi lost m y s e l f, we all fall downGross. The blood was drying on Lex’s forehead and cheek and was cracking uncomfortably when his facial expressions changed. Which seemed to be happening a lot in this situation. He scrunched up his lips and felt it peel softly. His inner clean freak was shrieking for him to go and get a wash clothe, but there were more pressing matters at hand. Like the fact that his ribs were broken, and a battered yet adorable genius was sitting in front of him. Lex frowned when the inventor said he was sorry. That was the last thing he wanted to hear. It wasn’t Sky’s fault. Not even in the least. More like Lex’s fault for not having the reflexes or balance to save the both of them.
“No,” Lex said seriously, looking into the older boy’s eyes. He wanted the other boy to feel okay, to know that it was an accident, and that it wasn’t his fault with all of his heart. He couldn’t stand the other boy feeling guilty. “Don’t be sorry. I should have held you, stopped you from falling.” He put his shirt down and looked at Sky, and saw to his shock and slight horror that the boy was bleeding so badly from his arms. Lex hadn’t noticed at first, because, he realized guiltily, that he wasn’t really thinking too much of the genius’s wellbeing. He scolded himself for only thinking of the shallow repercussions of falling down the stairs, like impressing the genius. They were both hurt, and they were both embarrassed by the situation. The fact that Sky couldn’t feel this until just now showed that he was more banged up that he thought he was. Lex frowned in real concern and reached out to grab Skylar’s wrist slowly, so as not to scare him. He turned his arm slowly to check the damage. It was bright scarlet with blood, but the cut wasn’t too long, just rather deep and gouge-like. Lex thought that Sky may need stitches, but he was no medical expert. The inventor probably knew more about medicine than he did.
“Ouch,” Lex whispered, and he squeezed Skylar’s wrist softly. He felt how close they were, and blushed with the remaining blood in his body. His normally tan skin was pale and clammy. It must have been the shock of the pain. He let go slowly, and his hand fell to his leg, curled into a fist.
“No, I feel like I was set on fire and pushed down the stairs. Go ahead and say you feel like you got hit by a car.”
That simple phrase of logic made Lex laugh again and his hand instantly went to his side to preemptively stop the pain. It didn’t work, but it didn’t matter anyways. His smile was wide, the blood was cracking on the side of his face, and the warmth was sinking back into his skin. The thought was intriguing, and he wondered if it was the smiles, or the laughs that made him feel better.
But he frowned once again, and nodded his head slowly, looking down at his once again covered side. Skylar thought his ribs might be broken too. That settled it. They were definitely headed for a hospital as soon as they got cleaned up. He barely noticed the other boy blush and stutter. But he couldn’t help the twitch of his lips that hinted at a smirk. He was pleased that the other boy was embarrassed by Lex’s body. His ego was flexing and cheering in his head. He kicked it out of the way and brought himself back to the present. His ribs, and the other boy’s arms were the main concern right now. “That is what I thought you were going to say.”
Right after he said this he saw the genius put his hand on his side and pull back to find it bleeding. It was the same side that Lex had fake-punched, the same side that Sky had set on fire. This wasn’t good. He chewed on his cheek while he thought of the best way to approach this question. It was a delicate one, but one that needed to be asked in any sense. He opened his mouth, and just as quickly clamped it shut again, jaws working uncomfortably. This would not be simple to explain. Oh well, he thought dully. Here we go.
“D-Do you want me to take a l-look?”
Lex squeezed his eyes shut as he waited for an answer. Then Sky told him that he threw his phone across the room when he burned himself. Lex found it rather funny, and he smirked, eyes still closed. Instead of waiting any longer to hear if the genius would call him a stalker, as he probably would, he opened his eyes and watched Skylar intently. When the boy suggested they go to the hospital, Lex couldn’t agree more. He stood up slowly, and stretched his sore legs. He huffed contemplatively, and waited for the other boy to get up. Lex hugged his side and looked around. The hallway was surprisingly still deserted. It was a miracle that no one had walked up to find them by now. He heard Skylar move to stand up and looked back towards the young man.
The genius was still on the floor, and looked as if his ankle was causing him pain.
Lex frowned. “Do you need some help? Here, take my hand.”
He held out his right hand and smiled sadly. He grabbed Sky’s hand and pulled the young boy to stand. “I can carry you if you need me to.” words;; 940 tag;; skylar/cal status;; complete notes;; and here is where things start to get complicated.... wearing;; CLICKlyrics;; "Without You" by Breaking Benjamin credit;; i.forgive.you @ CAUTION 2.0

And now you wish that you meant somethingAnd now you wish that you meant something to somebody else He saw Lex frown when he apologized and was a bit confused. He did drag them down the stairs after all. So it was a bit his fault. Seemed that the other boy didn't think so though. Ah well, that was just a difference of opinion. Honestly he should have mentioned it before he was punched in the side. Then he wouldn't have jumped and pulled them down the stairs. So technically it was his fault, but apparently Lex was convinced otherwise. He saw the gaze and blinked when the boy said no and told him not to be sorry. Said he should have held him and stopped him from falling. Well, he supposed that was one way of thinking about it. "I should have mentioned the burn before you tapped it though." he said with a slight frown. Which, that was true, but he didn't want anyone to know about it so he didn't think to mention it. Though he probably could have managed to just take the pain without jumping too. Either way he was going to blame himself for it. Despite the fact that Lex was rather convincing in his argument. He could have possibly stopped them from falling, but it wasn't likely being that he certainly took them by surprise. Hell, Sky could have just not grabbed him and only one of them would have gone down the steps. That wouldn't have been much better being that then it really would have been Lex's fault to some extent and probably would have had a similar outcome for the genius. Lex wouldn't have broken any ribs though, which it definitely looked like he did. Though he wasn't in that great of shape himself. Probably needed stitches, and the hospital staff was used to him so they probably wouldn't even ask what it was he was trying to do this time that he managed to slice up the back of both of his elbows enough to need stitches. He wasn't sure they would believe he just fell down the stairs backwards. His parents certainly wouldn't, but he wasn't sure how else one would manage to do such a thing.
He really was bleeding quite a bit and should try and stop that somehow seeing as it would take them a bit of time to get to the hospital. So they should probably go to his room first and after he could drive them to the hospital. Sure his ankle and knee were swelling, but it was his left leg and you drive with your right leg. Thus he would be able to do that, it was just getting to the car that might be the issue. Seeing as it definitely would hurt to even get up. He saw Lex reach out and felt his hand close around his wrist. Sky was fine with him doing so and let him turn around his arm with only a bit of a wince. He heard the comment and shrugged a bit once the younger male let go of his wrist. "Considering I didn't even notice it, it can't be too bad. Then again I think my nerves are a bit shot from electric shock" he noted with a slight frown. Then he saw Lex laugh at his comment of saying he felt like he was set on fire and pushed down the stairs. Ah, yeah he wasn't supposed to make him laugh, but it just happened. Wasn't his fault that Alexander the Great found him funny. Just kind of happened. Yeah, so as far as Skylar could tell, ribs didn't normally look like that, and so he would definitely guess that they were broken. Though he wished he could have avoided blushing and stuttering while looking at it. He was a bit of an awkward genius though so he couldn't help himself. Was a reflex that he couldn't stop. He really needed to work on that as far as he was concerned. Other people might find it amusing, but Sky certainly didn't think it was. Then again, that was just a matter of opinion he supposed. He was pretty sure some just found it cute in some weird way. How blushing was cute he would never understand, but that was probably because he just didn't see it that way. Then again he wasn't sure what he considered cute and what he didn't. Huh, he should probably figure that out at some point. Honestly he didn't really care either way he realized.
He saw the smirk and wondered if Lex thought the blushing was cute as well. Or maybe he just found it funny. Either way Skylar just frowned slightly. "Yeah, I don't think I have anything broken. Which they might want to do x-rays anyway." he said realizing it himself and becoming a bit more pale. He was terrified of them from his past life. A more concerning thing though was the fact that his burn was now bleeding. That, would definitely be something that would need looked at. He'd probably try and fix it up when they went to his room. Hearing the stutter he looked up and blushed a bit. "Uhm....when we get back to the room. So we can clean up a bit and then I can drive to the emergency room without us looking like an absolute wreck. My parents are going to have a cow as it is, might as well not let them hear that I showed up covered in blood." he said blushing despite the fact that he was quite pale. Seemed that Lex had his eyes closed for whatever reason, and Sky didn't know why. Though of course they should probably go to the hospital soon being that he was bleeding quite a bit. He'd get a rag or something for that too so he didn't bleed all over his car. Definitely didn't want to bleed all over it, that would be a pain in the ass to get out after all. He heard him ask if he needed help and pouted slightly that he couldn't get up on his own. He took Lex's hand and was pulled to standing. He winced as he stood up and tried to stand on his injured leg gently and almost fell over again. Well, obviously that wasn't going to happen. Hearing the suggestion though he was thinking that it would be really embarrassing if Lex had to carry him. "or I could hop." he said doing so once and nearly falling over again. Yeah, he was probably going to end up carried and wouldn't have much choice in the matter. He would try and keep some dignity though. It was bad enough that he needed stitches from falling down the stairs let alone the fact that he couldn't even walk to his own room. Ah well, it was worth a shot at least.

search for the answers i knew all alongi lost m y s e l f, we all fall downLex sighed and shook his head. He supposed that he would never get the young genius to believe that it wasn’t his fault. There was no point in trying to argue with someone like Skylar. If Lex was truthful with himself, it was another reason that he liked him. Besides his rather shallow instincts that loved the older boy’s blonde hair and chocolate eyes and the way his cheeks flushed when Lex smiled at him, he loved the stern way that the inventor applied logic to every situation, the way that he didn’t give up in the things that he believed in. And he even admired, but wasn’t too fond of, the way he constantly put himself into harms way to make his own thoughts come true.
Lex’s current life had left him lacking in that department. His former life had left no room for indecision. It was either, take what you want or be ordinary, not Great. But in this life, all he wanted was to be ordinary. To get what he wanted would make him different. As he thought this, his ego shrieked in anger and banged into his consciousness. I am here, you idiot! Let me out and I will make your dreams come true! I will get you any girl or guy in this school! He ignored his own thoughts and focused on the slim boy before him. If he looked into his own heart, this is what he wanted. Not a flock of bimbos and one night stands.
“Maybe I just shouldn’t touch you at all,” Lex countered quietly, looking at his shoes for a second. No matter how hard he tried to shove his ego inside his head, he wanted the other boy to agree with him, and yet not. He wanted to be right, but he wanted Skylar to say that it was okay that Lex had punched him, that it was okay that Lex wanted to touch him again; hold his hand, touch his cheek.
But he knew the other boy would never accept anything more than the innocent touches that they had shared. Skylar was straight. He didn’t want anything that Lex could offer him. Lex was sure of that.
And then the genius commented on his own self injury. It was accidental, but it still made Lex’s heart drop into his backside. The thought of this earnest and intellectually stimulating man sacrificing his own health to fix things, invent things, it was criminal. The thinker shouldn’t have to sacrifice anything for their genius. At least that was Lex’s view on things. His view was hardly ever taken into account by officials in this life. Sure he was on the LP, but that was a shared leadership, and over a small group of people at that. Part of him yearned for his power that he had in his first life. The way he could change things by the snap of a finger for the ones he loved. Nothing could happen in this young body, even though he was only ten years older when he had conquered half the world. He overlooked the comment as best he could, but he couldn’t help the angry feeling that he was getting over it. Best to leave it alone and move forward.
"Yeah, I don't think I have anything broken. Which they might want to do x-rays anyway."
Lex smirked in a covered elation. That meant that Skylar was better than he was. That was good. But then he saw the worry in the young inventor’s face and remembered the fear of x-rays, in both the last life and this.
“No, Sk-Tom,” Lex said carefully, strongly. He looked the other boy in the eye. The look of fear was definitely the worst thing that he could think of on Skylar’s face. He didn’t want him to be afraid. “It’s okay. It will be fine. I could stand outside, or in the room, or…”
His voice trailed off as he realized the probability of that actually happening. There were rules about family and other people inside rooms like that. And Skylar wasn’t a child anymore; he doubted they would make an exception for fear. Deciding that they would deal with that hurdle when they arrived at the damn hospital, he pushed the thought away. He didn’t want to promise anything that he couldn’t deliver. It wouldn’t be fair to the older boy. Then he heard the other boy speak again, and saw him blush pleasantly. Then it was Lex’s turn to blink rapidly, and will himself not to blush. He succeeded, for once, and maintained a look of pleasant indifference. Inside his mind was doing a happy jig. He would get to help the other boy, possibly bandage his side. His rather perverted side, that was trying to be noticed, and that Lex was desperately trying to ignore, was thinking other things…
Lex watched as the other boy tried to stand on his hurt ankle. The look on his face, and the way the boy tilted dangerously showed that his ankle was really hurt, and that he wouldn’t be able to walk alone. His offer still stood, pardon the pun, and he watched as Skylar denied the invitation to try hopping. The boy almost fell again, and Lex, without thinking, grabbed his waist to steady the poor guy.
“It’s okay,” Lex insisted, and he kept his hands on the boy’s waist to steady the unstable genius. Sure that his face was blushing furiously, he took one hand off of Sky’s waist and leaned over. “Come here. Let me.”
Careful to avoid the hurt ankle, Lex put his arm behind Sky’s legs and lifted. Soon the older, but surprisingly light, boy was reclining in his arms. The pain flared in his side, and Lex almost blacked out. But a few seconds of standing there and he was fine. He exhaled smoothly and inhaled again, trying to ignore the smell, a mix of blood and a rather pleasant boy fragrance that was definitely Skylar.
“Put your arm around my neck,” Lex gritted out through his teeth. No matter how light the boy was, this was going to be no easy trek, especially with the way his ribs were now shrieking in agony. He started walking, and soon he found his long-legged stride. “Try not to move, okay? It will only make the pain worse for both of us.”
He focused on putting one foot in front of the other, the destination. Not the fact that the boy he liked was reclining in his arms and his blonde hair was brushing up against his cheek.
