It seemed like just yesterday that Susie Humphrey (now Rhodes) entered the halls of Riverdale High as a student. Looking back, it was hard for the 64 year old woman to believe that fifty years had passed since then. Fifty years. It seemed like the perfect time to come back, when she looked at it that way. The major mark that Susie left on the school, along with Ethel Hanston and two young men, remained in full force, far more powerful than she, Ethel, or the boys could have possibly conceived in 1965 when RSOR was first established.
Hearing that her granddaughter and grandson were in RSOR, she found that she could no longer stay away. She had to see what became of the school, and how her grandchildren were doing there. What's more, she wanted to reunite with Hanston. The woman had been one of her best friends in high school, and it didn't seem right that the two of them only communicated via the occasional letter over the past forty years. It wasn't hard to convince Michael, her husband, to relocate to North Carolina either. At the very least, if a hurricane did come their way, they could always move back to Ohio?
Susie retired from her job teaching in Cleveland after thirty-five years. Even being technically 'retired', Susie had no plans to just sit around the house and gather dust. This woman was Boudica, after all. That fate didn't suit her at all. Then again, substitute teacher hardly seemed fitting for a woman formerly known as a warrior queen, but she knew full well that Riverdale High was a special case. It might not have been in the 1960s, but with RSOR, it became that way. Through Ethel, she learned that she and her old friend weren't going to be the only reincarnate staff lurking around the high school. The art teacher was Queen Victoria, the drama teacher was William Shakespeare, and everyone seemed to get weird vibes from the history professor, though nothing became of those thus far. Besides, even if she had spent most of this life teaching, she could still kick ass if the need arose. She still had the feeling that her tae kwon do lessons would come in handy at some point, even if she hadn't had to use them out in the world as of yet.
For right now, Susie was browsing around the fourth floor of the school, taking in all of the changes that occurred since her time as a student. It looked as though the building had been remodeled at least once, which only made sense when nearly fifty years passed since Susie last stepped foot in the school. She let out a wistful sigh as she looked up the stairs to the attic. Back in her day meetings were simply held in someone's dorm, given that the membership of RSOR was a whopping four people in 1965, but she now knew through Ethel that the group had grown large enough that meetings were held in the attic. Hearing the footsteps of someone behind her, Susie didn't even look back. Not yet, at least. "How may I help you?" She asked of the unknown person, an unseen small grin on her face.
