a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do, don’t plan the plan if you can’t follow through MICAH SIMMONS ==================================== Micah had been texting Oliver quite a bit recently. The two boys had a lot in common and though Micah was aware that Oliver was cautious around him, he didn’t care. Oliver shared in at least one area of intellect that was at Micah’s level. Micah’s lack of concern as to where Oliver got that knowledge was a bit strange to anyone who didn’t know Micah. He was a legal genius and for him, meeting someone who understood a higher level of education than a traditional high school student didn’t leave him asking questions. In fact, it just make him happy to meet someone like him. It never occurred to him to question where that knowledge came from. That alone was perhaps the most valuable part of the puzzle as to who Oliver was, but Micah would never pick up on that piece of information without help.
When Oliver had told him he was ready to test a project that he had been working on, Micah had immediately tried to hop on board and be a part of the fun. He had nothing better to do anyways. Thankfully, Oliver had agreed and Micah was finding himself heading out to the parking lot to join in the fun. Apparently the object in question was pre-tested and this was just another phase, but Micah could easily understand the desire to test it personally before sharing anything of the experience with another person.
Oliver was a friend for Micah, but Micah wasn’t sure if Oliver considered him a friend in turn. So that was also a huge factor. Naturally he had his concerns about the nature of their apparent friendship. Part of it was Micah was still very intrigued by the strange events from Halloween and select other unique clues he had picked up on since. And another part Micah was sure existed was Oliver’s caution. He was hiding something, but thankfully, other than curious tendencies, Micah didn’t care.
The blond walked his way from his dorm down to the grounds and across the lawn to the parking lot. The cars in it were fewer than it often had considering it was a weekend, and midday. The two combined had helped to clear the parking lot more than usual. Micah’s eyes roamed about and was thankful it was a sunny day. If the weather had been sour this wouldn’t be such an enjoyable outing. Hell, Micah was a bit of an indoors person, so if he was outdoors it better be something good. This was something good…

Oliver was always happy to find people that he could communicate his more mechanical ideas with. Wilbur was and always would be his number one go to guy for such subjects. That was absolutely non negotiable. That didn't mean that he couldn't talk to others about projects, however. The Wright brothers were absolutely a duo, but they were also two different people. Thus, they had their own sets of friends as well as those who overlapped. He wondered fleetingly if he should even be showing this particular device to Micah. It was one of the more 'questionable to security' devices that he'd worked on. More specifically, questionable to RSOR security. Given that Micah already associated both of his names (though didn't realize it as such, thankfully), was it wise to show him yet another reason why Oliver Winchester could indeed be associated with Orville Wright? Then again, he reasoned, Micah likely already knew. It wasn't exactly unknown that both Oliver and Nate worked on models. In fact, they were quite well known for it at school. So why would it strike Micah as any odder than usual? Save for the fact, of course, that Oliver showcased far more skill in the field than he should for an ordinary fifteen year old. Oliver did consider Micah to be a friend. Not a particularly close one, mind. It was rather unfortunate, as Oliver would have liked to consider Micah one of his closer friends. They certainly had enough in common for it. As it stood, though, Oliver could not consider any normals that he knew to be truly "close" friends. To be close friends, Oliver reasoned, he had to feel as though he could talk candidly with them. He couldn't do that with Micah. The two could discuss machinery until the cows came home, and could even discuss events from this life, but Oliver could never truly communicate with Micah about his past life. He could make veiled references, yes, but he could never actually talk about who and what he was with Micah the way he could with fellow reincarnates. Which was why, despite the fact that he and Micah had a lot more in common overall, Oliver considered someone like Angelo to be a closer friend than Micah. That didn't mean the two of them couldn't still have their fun, though! The reincarnate freshman made his way out to the parking lot, having made sure to clear out his backpack save for the device being tested. On a weekday, it would have been hard to find Micah. On a weekend, however, it was easy to spot him amongst the few cars that were scattered in the parking lot. Oliver completed his journey over to Micah, nodding with a small yet friendly smile and intoning "Hey." before setting his backpack down. He then knelt beside it. Oliver retrieved from the backpack a model airplane. He set it carefully on the ground beside him, taking out a remote control and zipping up his bag. From there, he flipped a switch on the side and began to fiddle with the controls. As he pushed one lever up, the flap on the right wing when up while the flap on the left went down, and when he pushed said lever down, the opposite effect took place. He played with a couple more levers, each corresponding to some sort of movement on the model plane, whether small or large, then finally rose to his feet, offering Micah his attention again with a small smile. "Looks like it's ready to try out. You want to do the honors?" He held out the control for Micah. Word count: 619 To: Micah/Jez-E Notes:

a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do, don’t plan the plan if you can’t follow through MICAH SIMMONS ==================================== The amusing part of the relationship Micah and Oliver had was that Oliver was nearly paranoid about what Micah could possibly know and Micah was curious, but not enough to care to know more about the peculiar puzzle that was Oliver. He was piecing what Oliver left behind, but Micah would never make the final connection. His mind was far too logical and it was so far from considering anything like Reincarnation as a possibly reality. Scientifically it couldn’t be explained and as such Micah was not likely to believe it. Thing was, this understanding may never develop between Oliver and Micah so perhaps technology was a decent affordance for them to use as a distraction from those social issues.
Micah loved having someone of his own intellectual level to talk to. He hadn’t yet realized that it was merely in one area Oliver had Micah’s intelligence. Well, not one area so much as a type of area. Micah just viewed Oliver like he did himself. He had a hard time understanding that he was at a higher intellectual level than normal because to Micah it was normal. So the fact that Oliver had this intel was not unusual to Micah. In fact to him, it felt natural. Ironic, when you considered that it was that one major concern that constantly plagued Oliver.
Micah had over the last little while steadily considered Oliver more and more a friend. He didn’t have many friends and most of them were Xbox Live Friends, or Skype Friends he played online games with. He didn’t have physical friends generally. In fact, before coming to Riverdale he had none. At least none he considered worth his time, since most of them lacked the mental capacity Micah had. Here he was finally making friends with his interests. He was pleased and Oliver was one of the earlier friends Micah had made. It was a strange experience and a thrilling one for Micah.
Micah was also for this reason, completely unaware that they wouldn’t be for Oliver close friends. Micah didn’t know much about the emotional act of being closer friends and saying everything to that friend. He didn’t fully understand the social relationships usual people had. Instead he saw it as a natural, healthy and usual friendship. Though, to be honest, Micah had no idea what normal is.
Micah returned the nod and smile saying ”Hey, Nice day for flying!”
He said, referring to the model airplane Oliver was now pulling out of his back pack. Micah eased himself down to a sort of crouch to be level with Oliver. He watched as Oliver fiddled with the plane but said nothing as he did what he was going to do. Micah rose at the same time as Oliver and smiled as Oliver offered him the controller. He nodded as he took it. ”I am assuming you already tested it. Was it to your expectations?” Micah asked as he took his time testing small controls at first before letting it into the air. Then he let it into the air and tested the same controls in the air. Micah hadn’t used an honest to god remote control anything for a couple years so it was strange holding the controller in his hand. Not since an old science project where he designed a robotic cat. He tentatively tried doing a loop de loop with the plane and was pleased to see it work. ”It’s really smooth…” Micah said, his tone sounding pleased.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ==================================== •• Tag • Oliver Winchester •• •• Words • 584 •• •• Outfit • CLICK •• •• Lyrics • "A Man’s Gotta Do" by Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog ••

There had been a time when Oliver was as similarly unaware as Micah was over what was considered 'normal'. At a young age, he hadn't considered himself any different from a normal child. For all that five year old Oliver knew, all five year olds had the sort of memories that he had. When he corrected that pilot at the airport, how could he have known that both his parents and that pilot would look at him strangely, as if it was something that he shouldn't be able to rattle off of the top of his head? It was the reason why the little boy had responded with 'I just know' to the inquiries as to how he knew the information, because it was all that he felt that he needed to explain. How was he to know that his parents didn't know that he was one of the reincarnated inventors of the airplane? They were his parents, they seemed to know everything else about him... School was what taught him what was 'normal' for kids his age and what wasn't, as it did with most children. While children in single parent families learned that it was unusual to grow up without a daddy or mommy, Oliver learned that none of the other kids had experiences like he did. He asked questions, but he gradually learned based on reactions (his mother infamously bursting into tears when he asked if he was adopted) that he needed to keep mum. He could never change who and what he was, but he knew better. He knew what kind of reactions he received from most people, and so he kept mum. No longer would he occasionally correct people who called him Oliver with the name Orville. No longer would he ask odd questions of the people who knew him. There were slip-ups, of course. Even now, he would occasionally write his name as Orville before correcting himself and putting his current name down rather than his past one. He'd never, ever been able to hide all of his mechanical curiosities and eccentricities. Point was, though, he was nowhere near as obvious as he was about it as a child. Nevertheless, he needed an outlet. RSOR was that outlet, and Oliver was just as grateful as any member that it existed. He wasn't alone. He could talk about his experiences with other people, people who understood, people who were willing to listen - not people who would give him strange looks for simply stating to a pilot that he'd slipped up on one of the facts when the pilot was explaining the basics to him on how a plane flew. Oliver hadn't even asked the question in the first place - He'd already known it! The pilot just saw him looking out the window curiously and took it upon himself to explain to the interested looking little boy. Though Oliver had to be careful around Micah, he was still relieved to find another person that he could relate to in some fashion. Oliver smiled back at Micah's comment. "Indeed it is." It would be even better if they had more than just the model to test, but thus far the only life-sized model that he and his brother experimented with in this life was the hang glider he'd received last Christmas from Nate. When Micah asked if it performed to his expectations, Oliver nodded. "We conducted a few tests beforehand when we came up with this one." Rarely were flight experiments something that was just 'thrown together' by Oliver and Nate. No, usually they did research and calculations beforehand. There was some trial and error involved as well, but overall Oliver and Nate took what they did pretty seriously when they were involved in the task. Word count: Still working. I have a feeling this is going to be a long background one. XD To: Micah/Jez-E Notes:

a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do, don’t plan the plan if you can’t follow through MICAH SIMMONS ==================================== For Micah, school had been a bit of a joke. In fact it still was. At first he did freakishly well at all his homework. He was pulling off unbelievable marks and he saw it as a “look what I can do” or an “I can do this better than they can”. But the novelty eventually wore off. Micah’s grades had already led his parents to getting him tested. They had discovered a surprisingly over-developed brain that was able to learn in many different fashions and retain information at an alarming rate. From then on Micah was given extra when he had a good teacher, and would sit around doing nothing when he had a bad teacher. He eventually lost motivation to achieve.
His parents had started bribing the boy with games and toys, anything to get him motivated. They knew he was more than capable of doing it but without incentive he didn’t even try anymore. Micah had fuel for his comic book collection and his video games and that was probably the only reason he went through elementary school the way he did. High school had been the realization point for his parents. They needed him to motivate himself.
That was when they sent him to Riverdale. Micah still didn’t have that ‘oh’ moment where he understood not only was he unusual but he was so unusual it meant normal was far from what he was. He knew he was different, but he assumed that he was still normal in most senses of the word. And to be honest, he was, just not in the areas he assumed he was normal. Micah was slowly learning that he didn’t fit in with most kids his age, and that in itself meant he was different in ways he had yet to understand.
The difference between Micah and Oliver was something Micah may never understand however. Oliver’s intelligence came from having lived a life before. Micah’s was just brain power. Oliver had a place where he belonged despite his unusual level of thinking. Micah so far didn’t. He hadn’t learned to curb his language, curb his intellect and to socialize with people that were not like him. People generally were not like him, and he’d have to figure that out eventually.
Micah grinned. He didn’t comment past that about the weather, and left it be. ”We? You mean you’re roommate? I’ve heard that the two of you are quite innovative in your designs and construction of remote control planes. Though, most of those I heard talk about it implied it was unusual.”
Micah explained. He still didn’t understand how it was unusual, but he did know that most students his age didn’t generally act on technological knowledge. He assumed this is where the interest from other students came from. ”It’s good to know it’s been previously tested. I think the anxiety of witnessing an initial test is quite alarming. I always get quite anxious when I am testing my own creations.” Micah explained, watching the plane now that it was in the air and was carefully maneuvering it, but it was obvious that he didn’t maintain quite the skill controlling the plane as say Oliver, Nate or Fred might have.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ==================================== •• Tag • Oliver Winchester •• •• Words • 539 •• •• Outfit • CLICK •• •• Lyrics • "A Man’s Gotta Do" by Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog ••

Even in his first life, Oliver didn't come across typical of a boy his age. His temperament surely was, but his tenacity and mechanical interest? Not many children at age five would skip kindergarten only to be finally found in a neighboring home with their best friend taking apart a sewing machine. Perhaps the most notable incident occurred when he was in second grade the first time around. Father brought home a flying toy, and instead of just casting the thing aside when it broke, he and Will took to fixing it. When that didn't work, they rebuilt it. Finally, they tried to not only rebuild it, but make it bigger. He'd been working on one of such toys in class instead of focusing on his homework, and as one would expect, the teacher eventually called him out on it. He'd explained to the (doubtlessly bemused) teacher that he was working on a flying machine, and that he and his brother hoped to build one big enough to carry them both. Just how prophetic that statement was, of course, was unbeknownst to anyone involved in that conversation at the time (including the boy who made the statement himself), but it went to show that Oliver's talent and passion for mechanics went a LONG way back. That said, being a reincarnate did offer him plenty of advantages, there was no denying that. It also had it's disadvantages in that a lot of people didn't take him seriously - Or they took him too seriously and started making connections. Both were annoying. Even if Oliver couldn't up and invite Micah to join RSOR, he certainly didn't mind discussing various topics with him until the cows came home. So long as a few topics were avoided. It was clear that the two young men had a lot in common, it was just a matter of how much Oliver could really share with Micah. Speaking of, Micah was lurking dangerously close to such a subject with his next inquiries. "Yes, my roommate and I." He responded with a small grin. Nathan Driscoll was far more to him than just a roommate, just as Alison Driscoll was more to him than his roommate's sister. Being innovative with flight designs certainly wasn't a new hobby of theirs either, even though they'd only just met less than a year before in this lifetime. It was the comment about the implications of this being unusual that bothered Oliver. While Micah didn't come out and say he felt this way himself, it still bothered the freshman that it was even brought up. He couldn't hide the fact that he tensed up a bit, though to his credit, he did resist the urge to go on the defensive with Micah. Instead, he tried his best to blow off the comment. "Well, you know how people talk. There are a few people who have it in their head to gossip about anyone in RSOR. It's best...it's best to try to ignore them." There was uncertainty in Oliver's statement, but as Micah continued on the subject of the machine, Oliver latched on to the subject change, especially as it was one that he could discuss for hours on end. "It can be anxious, yes, but it's also exciting!" Oliver asserted with a large grin on his face. "Getting to see your work in action, see if you need to make any improvements. We've already had much success with plenty of our designs, but it's always fun to try new ones." 'Plenty of our designs' was a veiled reference to some of the first airplanes, but at least at this point Oliver was confident enough that Micah wouldn't see through it. He might have faltered a little before, but at a subject he knew and enjoyed so well, he was much more in his element, and it was very clear. The best part? Micah seemed like someone who shared in the passion to some degree, so he felt more at ease with discussing it. This, ironically, made it easier to sidestep anything odd that might come up in the process. Word count: 712 To: Micah/Jez-E Notes: What is it with Micah that makes me want to get into 'history of Oliver' mode? XD

a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do, don’t plan the plan if you can’t follow through MICAH SIMMONS ==================================== Micah was best left to be blissfully ignorant to Oliver’s situation and to that of RSOR. His mind wouldn’t adjust well to the knowledge if he had it and he’d rather believe Oliver was acting like Orville Wright as a game, rather than see it as the truth. His scientific way of thinking wouldn’t openly allow for Micah to believe that Oliver really was Orville right in the past. For Micah, Reincarnation wasn’t even a thought, let alone a possibility.
As a result, the paranoia Oliver was feeling with regard to Micah’s inquiries were sensible on Oliver’s part but not necessary. Micah honestly lacked the capacity to even consider reincarnation. It was unlikely his mind could even adapt to the idea if he had been outright told it. Micah smiled widely, ”I’d love to meet your room mate sometime. Maybe later or something…”
Micah added, his attention not really 100% there on this part of the topic, seeing as he was more intently interested in the plane. Micah did notice Oliver tense up this time and landed the plane turning to the other boy. ”Did I say something wrong?” He asked. Micah wasn’t socially assimilated with most of the population and as a result he often said things people didn’t like. He had learned to recognize signs, but often chose to ignore them. Because he did want to see Oliver as a friend, he felt he couldn’t just ignore all the signs. Sometimes he also missed them altogether, but not this time. Micah looked puzzled a moment. ”I guess that is true. People do tend to gossip about all of you. I say, to each their own.” He let the matter drop from there, not saying anymore. He didn’t quite understand the need for gossip but he understood where it stemmed from with RSOR. Flat out, if you told someone they were not allowed to do something, human instinct was to do it. And with RSOR, they were telling people they were not welcome in the club, and to the general populace of the school, this was the same as saying either they are not good enough or that they are not welcome. That meant human reaction was to retaliate, and for some gossip was a logical retaliation. For others, who are more aggressive, Anti-RSOR was the answer and it had formed as a result. Micah was pleased to see his friend grinning again. ”I agree, the process is certainly exhilarating. I am always concerned I made one small error and it is enough to cause an entire project to fail. Sometimes even causing irreversible damage. Human error is all too common.” Micah explained. Micah didn’t see through the reference Oliver made of course, and just took it at face value. He was just pleased to have someone who had some sort of similar interest to him who didn’t take off because of Micah’s personality.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ==================================== •• Tag • Oliver Winchester •• •• Words • 485 •• •• Outfit • CLICK •• •• Lyrics • "A Man’s Gotta Do" by Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog ••

Oliver's situation was, of course, far more complicated than Micah would ever realize. This worked to Oliver's advantage, but by an odd twist of fate, Oliver didn't realize it. He didn't have to be anywhere near as careful as he was around Micah, because Micah thought it was all a game. If Oliver had access to that information, he would readily 'play along'. That being said, he still wouldn't be too obvious (there were, after all, plenty of things that Oliver knew that would suggest to likely even Micah that this was more than a game, and that Oliver knew way too much). Still, it would help him to relax a little, which would certainly be of use at this point in time. There were multiple comments that Micah made that suggested, to Oliver, that Micah was on to him. Not only did this unnerve Oliver himself, but it presented a security issue to RSOR. Oliver simply nodded to the roommate comment with a smile. "Sounds like a plan." Nor was Oliver's attention focused on this bit of information. If it were, he might have invited Micah to stop by his dorm after all of this was said and done, although Oliver would quickly realize in retrospect the folly of such an idea. Micah already had Oliver on edge. Why would he invite Micah into an area that hosted plenty of information to suggest to Micah that things weren't exactly as they seemed to most normals? He'd already learned his lesson with Errol on that front. Oliver didn't know how to answer Micah's next inquiry, though tried his best to defuse the situation. Did he admit the truth or did he try to blow it off? Admitting the truth might be dangerous, but blowing it off might inspire Micah to try harder to figure it out. To Oliver, that felt like inadvertently pushing him toward Anti-RSOR, which was the absolutely last thing that Oliver wanted to do. Anti-RSOR did not need any more people in their ranks. The reincarnate looked surprised at the first sign of Micah's lackadaisical attitude toward the big secret that many other normals seemed borderline obsessed with. "If only there were others who thought along those same lines. It's a bit ridiculous." Oliver was still nervous, although Micah's comment served to calm his nerves a little bit. Oliver knew better than to drop his guard though. For all he knew, Micah could be intentionally trying to do this to get more information out of Oliver. A bit paranoid, yes, but RSOR had to be, given the secret that they held. Oliver could relate to the next part of Micah's statement as well. "It's a very real fear, and to say that it hasn't happened with any of our machines would be a lie." It was part of the invention process - Trial and error. If you found something that didn't work, you just had to try something else, or fix whatever was causing the problem. That said, it could indeed be disheartening to put much time and effort into something only to discover a small error that made you have to start over from square one. "It's frustrating, but I've learned through experience that the best thing to do is take a good look at what caused the problem and see what you can do to fix it." In Oliver's case, he was thinking back specifically to his past life. An error that almost resulted in Wilbur's death, and already resulted in one glider pilot's death years before. An error that had been perpetuated in all of the tables available to researchers in the field. One coefficient was wrong in an equation, one coefficient that drastically decreased the effectiveness of most machines built to this point. That one error was almost enough to make them abandon all their attempts. They hadn't, though. Instead, they opted to do their own tests to figure out what was going wrong, and pinpointed the error. Yes, Oliver certainly knew how to handle those sorts of issues from experience. Word count: 700 To: Micah/Jez-E Notes: All this time it said 'not done' when it was really just about done. XD

a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do, don’t plan the plan if you can’t follow through MICAH SIMMONS ==================================== Naturally everyone would have a lot easier time if they knew what others were thinking. Like in a comic book! For Micah, It was the only explanation he had for why Oliver was so much like and knew so much about Orville Wright. It must be the fact that he had done extensive research for some reason, leading to this game. It was role-playing! And on Halloween it was even better because it was like Cosplaying! All things Micah loved and adored. And naturally that made more sense than the truth... Who would ever believe reincarnation was real? Certainly not Micah with his science and logic. He needed proof and he was blind to the proof in front of his face.
Micah nodded his head. ”Perhaps some time we could all play video games together. Or if you guys are not good with that, maybe see a movie. Avengers is coming out in a short while, we could go see that!”
Micah offered, running with the meet the roommate idea and unconsciously giving Oliver an alternative to Micah visiting his dorm room. Micah was also unaware that he would learn a lot from the dorm room and it was definitely best that Oliver keep Micah out of there. Micah was definitely confused with Oliver’s surprise. What was there to be surprised about. He went over what he said several times and finding no reason for Oliver’s surprise. Naturally it was something that was just about the differences and less about what is right and wrong. He didn’t work out that Oliver was surprised that Micah wasn’t interested in the RSOR secret. At least not until Oliver spoke. ”I’ve been told people like to be part of groups and that being in a group makes them feel wanted, where being denied angers them and makes them want to know why. Like in guilds! When you are on a game and a prestigious guild invites you to join them, you don’t ask questions you just join. Where someone outside of that guild will envy them or wish to know what makes their guild function. Those who are rejected often aim to make their own guild and band together to try to thwart the original guild. So RSOR is a high level, prestigious and coveted guild, and everyone else feels rejected or envious, so they do things that they logically shouldn’t do. Like entering a high level dungeon to try to reap rewards they lack the combined abilities to get.” Micah offered, entirely speaking about games by the time he was about half way through. He didn’t understand how spot on he was, but he viewed school clubs as being guilds in a real life videogame. Technically the comparison was quite accurate. Micah nodded his head several times to show he was listening as Oliver spoke. ”That is the best logical choice, but it doesn’t change the feeling of anxiety that overcomes me when I test something for the first time. Though I do follow the same process of doing what is best within my power to repair the damaged creation.” Micah was thinking much smaller scale that Oliver was. Naturally, Oliver had a different type of real world experience that Micah lacked. Micah was speaking in terms of small projects and small electronic devices that were far from life threatening. The most dangerous part about them was the solder fumes and the electric current that could be put through some of them. Hardly life threatening when compared to the airplane. When Micah’s projects failed they blew up, just didn’t work or smoked a little. An airplane failure meant a plummet that could result in death. There was no comparison, but perhaps that was why Micah’s discomfort at testing something small was so great. Oliver was relaxed by comparison because something small was harmless when compared to what he had already done.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ==================================== •• Tag • Oliver Winchester •• •• Words • 649 •• •• Outfit • CLICK •• •• Lyrics • "A Man’s Gotta Do" by Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog ••

Oliver was in a much safer position than he realized just yet, though he was starting to get the idea. Regardless of what Micah thought about Oliver now, he didn't know much about Oliver when he was a child. He had no way of knowing that a five year old Oliver, with no research whatsoever (and how could he have done research? He was five) discussed concepts that should have been above his level of understanding to a pilot. Even when he had to do a project on himself in sixth grade, he hadn't done much research. He didn't need to. Still, he wasn't about to tell Micah that, even if he knew what Micah's thoughts on the matter were. It was better to keep that knowledge within the realm of RSOR. Oliver smiled a little at the thought of playing video games or seeing a movie. He wasn't the best at video games, but that didn't mean that it wouldn't be fun to give it a try, and he figured that Nate's competitive nature might aid in that respect as well. As for a movie? The last time he'd gone to see a movie was with Lenita, and thus going with a friend and past brother seemed like a relatively neutral way to defuse. "I'll discuss it with him and see what he thinks. A movie doesn't sound bad, though." Oliver had another reason why a movie would be a better option with a normal - There was less of a chance that Oliver and/or Nate would slip up and refer to each other by their past names. Oliver was even nervous about using their past nicknames of Ullam and Bubs/Bubbo around Micah, for fear that he'd done his research on that as well. Oliver knew that Micah recognized something in Oliver, but it would be even more dangerous to bring Nate into that, wouldn't it? The video game metaphor was not lost on Oliver. He might not have much experience with video games, but the parallels drawn were clear. Oliver was both impressed and a little worried at just how much of the big picture Micah really saw. Again, he didn't realize that even though Micah could piece an awful lot together, he was missing the necessary pieces to put everything together. "That would explain a lot about Anti-RSOR's motives, I will say that much." He let out a sigh. He, like most of RSOR, could get where Anti-RSOR was coming from to some extent, but that didn't make their advances any less frustrating. Especially given how forceful some of them could be. Oliver smiled a little at Micah's assessment. Again, it was one that he could relate to. "I know, and I feel it too sometimes. If I may offer a suggestion, try going with smaller models first, if you can, or even test the variables in a different environment so that you don't have to worry about harming the machine itself." Again, Oliver was speaking from experience, specifically on the way he and Wilbur used tiny wing designs and put them through a wind tunnel to gather information before even proceeding to select one and try it out on their life-sized machine. Indeed, Oliver's experience had everything to do with this. For Oliver, most of the projects that he was working on now were small scale comparatively. The closest thing he and Wilbur had currently to a big project was the hang glider they currently had hidden in their dorm. The real blast from the past would come over the summer, when they would hopefully be working on a big project at Amelia's. Oliver could hardly wait! a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do, don’t plan the plan if you can’t follow through MICAH SIMMONS ==================================== Micah tended to be a bit one-minded on certain things. His mind naturally gravitated toward comic books, video games and fantasy just about anything. He also was a huge advocate of sci-fi. So it was no surprise he suggested they play video games. Everyone played a type of video games in today’s world. It was just a matter of whether it was Micah’s style of game or if it was a lighter and less intense game, like Farmville! Micah preferred games he could play and enjoy for long periods of time with a solid plot or story. Though he did spend some time on shooters will minimal plot.
Micah grinned widely and nodded. ”Sounds like fun!! Let me know when you were thinking and also what movies you guys want to see. We can pick one of them. I am good with a lot of movies…”
Micah offered. It had been a while since he had someone to spend time with to talk to…at least before Oliver. Micah didn’t really see eye to eye with most. As a child he didn’t fit in much either and as such he spent more time inside doing his own thing and that was where the video game obsession had come from. He had to do something with himself after all. His parents would be astounded to hear of their son making friends with kids his own age. He thought he just might tell them… Micah didn’t realize how differently people thought compared to him. He noticed they were not quite in the grounds of understanding him. But he didn’t usually realize how perceptive he could be. He also failed to draw the literal conclusions to what he had said. He didn’t understand just what it meant to those involved with the social game he had described. Micah was outside of Anti-RSOR and RSOR so he didn’t see the issue as it existed. He saw it in terms of just another guild club. Not in terms of what it was, mostly because he didn’t know just what made RSOR so prestigious. Micah shrugged. ”Or you can choose to disregard other’s perceptions and prefer to exist outside of what you are supposed to covet. I personally don’t see the glamour of clubs. Well, I am in Video Games club, but that’s normal. We generally forgo physical meetings and meet online instead. But we accept anyone. I mean, if you are not welcome there, then why desire to be there? I know if you force your way into a guild no one talks to you. Wouldn’t it be the same thing?” Micah suggested. He was still explaining his perceptions based on observations from video game life. Micah nodded. ”So you start small but what happens when the calculations need to be adjusted and the materials are too dense or are not strong enough for what you are building at a larger size? I understand the value of prototyping but creating a different sized model can be mostly done mathematically but not completely with a perfect margin with no chance of error.” Micah offered. ”The anxiety still remains ever present.” He was surprised at the other boys confidence in it. Though that may have something to do with the fact that Micah had less experience. He drew the conclusion that Oliver must have better success to have such confidence.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ==================================== •• Tag • Oliver Winchester •• •• Words • 562 •• •• Outfit • CLICK •• •• Lyrics • "A Man’s Gotta Do" by Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog ••

"I'm sure we'll find something." Oliver remarked with a shrug and a grin. He was pretty versatile when it came to movies as well. He wasn't a particular fan of horror films or especially gory films, but most other films he enjoyed. He, of course, had a soft spot for old films, seeing as they were the first films he had experience with. He'd made a special trip to the theater over the winter to see 'The Artist' for this particular reason. He was fairly certain he'd seen other denizens of Riverdale High there as well. It was really no surprise to any member of RSOR that Riverdale High had a larger proportion of teenagers who would enjoy silent films than nearly any other high school in the country... Though Oliver was still mildly concerned with Micah, Micah's views on the matter of RSOR and Anti-RSOR were becoming clear with his explanations. Again, he used video games as a guide, but Oliver could still follow along. From that comment, Oliver could discern that Micah wasn't the type to up and join Anti-RSOR. While he did seem to possess a vague curiosity (and who wouldn't?), he also accepted that there was a reason why RSOR kept a secret and didn't pry. Oliver couldn't help but smile a little at this realization. Micah wasn't as big of a threat as he thought after all. It didn't mean he was going to let his guard down entirely, but it did help him to relax a little. "Exactly! And their methods are not endearing in the least bit..." Oliver sighed, thinking back to the entire reason why the rumors were started about him in the first place. "Eavesdropping on personal conversations...pushing their way into dorms they are not invited into..." There were other infractions, mind, but as Oliver was directly impacted by these two, they were the first two instances to jump to the forefront of his mind. Oliver appreciated the point that Micah brought up, and responded in kind. "That is always a possibly, to be sure." The freshman admitted with a contemplative expression. "The smaller models are not without their flaws for this reason. However, it is possible to conduct some experiments on a smaller scale and translate them to a large scale. It also increases the probability of catching certain errors early on, when they are in the planning stage, rather than when they are being tested on a larger scale and, in some cases, are costlier to fix." This entire conversation suggested that Oliver had indeed worked with projects on a larger scale than the model airplane that Micah was flying. Now, this did not necessarily mean that he was referring specifically to airplanes (although he was in this instance), but the fact remained that Oliver wasn't exactly trying to hide his level of technical prowess. Perhaps it was a flaw of his, but he hated to be hindered in a subject that he had so much experience with. Indeed, Oliver had much more success than Micah.
