Oliver Winchester was nervous as could be.
How was he going to turn down Clyde Barrow, though? It wasn't every day that you were invited to go out for a drink with a guy as infamous as that, especially if you happened to be a freshman while he was a senior. Having lived once before, Oliver's misgivings were even stronger than that of a normal person his physical age. There were so many things that could go wrong, and Oliver didn't even like drinking alcohol.
Part of this had to do with his upbringing in his first life. Being the son of a minister meant adhering to some pretty stiff rules, especially in the late 19th and early 20th century. The reason that he was more wary about drinking, however, was what happened the last time that he had something to drink. It wasn't of his own volition - While Oliver was most certainly curious about alcohol, and might have very well tried it in this life, he had no plans to try it out at age fifteen.
Such plans don't usually pan out when your drink with dinner is spiked in the cafeteria. Oliver could scarcely remember much of what happened after that, although he knew in the aftermath that he'd spent most of the night hitting on Fred. On the bright side, Fred confessed recently that she was attracted to him as well, and was putting serious consideration into going out with him. On the negative side? That was how she'd found out that he had a crush on her, and, to make matters worse, he'd still been dating Lenita at the time. Not to mention Oliver didn't want to relive the hangover...sure, he'd been through worse in his past life (he'd died, for pete's sake), but it still wasn't the most pleasant sensation in the world.
Nevertheless, Oliver did like having fun. It was a side of him that many a casual acquaintance didn't get a chance to see, owing to Oliver's shyness around people he didn't know that well. Crowds weren't really his forte, but he was willing to give this a try; and despite everything, he was almost half tempted to order something to drink. He couldn't deny that he was curious at the very least. He was pretty sure he would just stick with a coke though. They'd need a designated driver, after all. And while Oliver didn't actually have his driver's license, or even a training permit, he wasn't too worried about being pulled over. It wasn't like he couldn't drive - He had more experience than most of the students at Riverdale High, possibly even more than the principal! Recognizing Carter's old beat up truck, Oliver waited around beside it, eying it with a certain interest. This was a vehicle, after all, and it gave him something to do as he waited for Carter to arrive. Plus, surely on this beat up old thing, there was something that needed to be fixed...offering his services for that might further serve to get on Carter's good side.

Notes: Yeah, I figure Carter'll get him a rum and coke instead. XD Pretty easy switcheroo.
