Chelsea did not mind school as much as many others her age. She felt that many of her peers took their privilege for granted. Yes, the ability to attend school was a privilege, not a right, at least in Chelsea's eyes. There were still plenty of countries in the world, after all, where children were not allowed to go to school for various reasons, whether they be race, or religion, or gender. That said, Chelsea did not fight as rabidly toward this cause as she should. Oh, she definitely supported the efforts in other countries. She gave to charities when she could. The fact remained, though, that there just wasn't much that she could do as a sixteen year old sophomore at Riverdale High. When the subject came up, Chelsea would tell everyone within earshot exactly how she felt, but the subject did not come up much, and she didn't want to bring it up out of fear that people would grow tired of her rants and would not listen when she wanted them to. It was still frustrating nonetheless. That said, every once in a while the time came where she could make a statement, and Halloween was one of them. The year before she'd dressed up as Pandora's Box. This year, she was dressing up as Athena. Rather than dress up in the revealing wares that many of her classmates were (not that she had a problem with it if they truly wanted to dress like that, but she had a strong feeling that at least a few of those girls were dressing like that because society told them to, a thought that made her feel a bit sick to her stomach), she was dressed as a Greek goddess. Girl power, anyone? Chelsea made her way to the refreshments table, adjusting her toga as she did so. The only issue she had with this costume was that the toga was a challenge to move around in. She thought it was remarkable the sheer number of 'seamen' that were present at the dance...begrudgingly, considering Errol was part of the group, she had to admit that if there was a contest for best group costume those sailors would win it hands down. Opting to steer away from the punch after what happened the year before, Chelsea instead took a cookie and munched down on it. Word Count: 396 To: Open Notes: Part of this post is recycled. Oh, and costume.

Miss Chess had taken forever to find her costume mostly because she didn't want to look like a prostitute. She was sure that Errol would not mind in the slightest, but Halloween was not about pleasing him. It was more about expressing herself in all her odd glory. Also, it was probably the one time of the year when she got genuine compliments on her hair color seeing as everyone thought it was just part of her costume. Which, while it definitely wasn't just part of her costume, she didn't mind the compliments. After all, it was nice to receive them every so often. Sure Errol complimented her when she wasn't irritated at him, but being that she was dating him it did not really count.
Thus the rainbow girl decided to dye her hair green and go as mother nature. Last year she had gone as a faerie and shot glitter at everyone this year she would probably be glittering up people by way of glittery flowers. Ah well, the girl just liked glitter what could she say? Which was why all of her makeup was coated in it. The green of it matched her hair and there were a few butterflies and a vine or two sketched across her face and up her arms. After all she could draw so might as well use it to make her costume look more interesting. She, herself, was covered in a layer of green glitter and that included her hair despite the fact that it was already green as it was due to her dying it the other night. She even managed to put all those ringlet curls in that Errol enjoyed playing with so much. Though if he pulled on them he'd end up with a face full of glitter. She'd probably end up even leaving a glittery green lipstick mark on his silly sailor face tonight just for fun.
Anyway, once she was ready the girl skipped off to the dance in her dress and looked around. She spotted Errol, but she wanted to hang out with a few girl friends before she had to deal with all the seamen that were wandering about. After another moment of looking around she spotted a certain reincarnate munching a cookie and the girl skipped her glittery way over to Chelsea. She poked the girl with a glittery green nail and smiled happily. "Hey Chels I see we at least found costumes we can bend over in." she teased with a smile before grabbing a cookie and biting into it.

When it came to taking a while to pick out a costume, Chelsea could relate. She, too, wanted to express herself with her costume. And, like Chess, she didn't feel that expressing herself merely consisted of showing off as much skin in possible. In fact, she felt that she was issuing more of a statement by finding a costume that didn't show off everything she owned. Chelsea had yet to spot anyone that she really wanted to chat with. When it came to events like this she normally avoided her brother, not because they weren't close but because...well, they had their own sets of friends. Also, Errol happened to be part of Mark's set of friends, and Chelsea didn't want anywhere near Errol. Then there was this whole Wizard thing. The Wizard posts were not only completed, but the Wizard had just revealed himself for who he was. There was no mistaking the obvious hint implied with the parenthesis around 'of Oz' in 'The Wizard of Oz'. The thing was, Chelsea wasn't sure what to feel about Oz. Obviously, he'd done something she did not agree with in the least bit. It also did add a certain satisfaction when she thought about the youtube video. She did feel that he needed to be punished (especially not knowing that he was already going through his own self made hell), but he had acknowledged in his apology letter that she made good points...that show of respect made her feel a twinge of respect toward him. Only a twinge, though. Chelsea noticed a shade of green glitter coming toward her, and turned to face it at once. She grinned at the sight of her friend, Chess, especially once she saw that Errol was not in tow. Chelsea didn't understand how Chess could date that asshat...although at least she could trust that Chess would hit him over the head with a notebook whenever he deserved it. Maybe they weren't such a bad couple after all. "I know. I think that could be a group costume in itself...if we can find anyone other than the two of us. Mother nature, eh?" Again, it was totally fine if girls wanted to dress this way, but she had a feeling many were doing it for attention - Something that put a bad taste in her mouth. So yes, Chess was definitely very green today and she wondered idly what Errol would think of her green hair. Well, it didn't really matter what he thought, but she was definitely aware that he preferred the pink. Sure they had made up, but that didn't mean she wasn't a fan of irritating him anyway. Besides, if she wanted to make her hair random colors then she damn well would and he could shove it. That was, probably not a healthy view of a relationship, but eh she had worse. The glitterpuff pushed a strand of green curls behind her ear and smiled at Chelsea. Definitely was happy to see someone she was friends with already, and she would definitely have to pounce the girl with glitter, because obviously Greek goddesses needed glitter. Anyway, she munched on a cookie and giggled at Chels's statement of it could be a group costume if they found enough of them.
"Maybe, but I doubt we will seems whore costumes are in again this year. I understand some people just like dressing like that, but really I think they're just giving Jack a list." she noted with a shake of her head. Speaking of, was that him wandering past with faerie wings? Well, he was certainly in an interesting costume. "Speak of the devil.....and he arrives in faerie wings....hm" she noted with a raised eyebrow. She then proceeded to send a puff of glitter at Chelsea. "As a side note, I'll be glitterizing everyone I know." she said with a grin. Though she may not need to do so to Raven seeing as for one he had glittery wings on, and two he may strangle her for it later. Did she want to risk it? Well, not really, and besides she didn't really know him. Just more knew of him really. Thus she would settle for pouring it on Oliver and probably Isa. She was betting neither of them would enjoy it in the slightest either due to the fact that glitter was well, girly. Besides, it would probably end up clashing with their costume, though they could really just say the truth there being that they got attacked by mother nature the glitter queen.
"Anyway, shall we find more people we know or continue to stare at the punch and cookies?" she asked with a smile at the other girl. She was definitely in a good mood today, but hey it was Halloween so who could blame her?

Costumes like theirs were definitely a rarity. Though she couldn't help but notice that the few that weren't wearing revealing clothing were almost all RSOR members. That in itself had to count for something. Chelsea couldn't help but chuckle at the bluntness Chess displayed when remarking on the costumes their peers had chosen for Halloween. She frowned a little when she heard the mention of Jack, however, and frowned even more when she saw him...wait, cancel that frown and turn it into a smile. She might have frowned upon first glimpse at his face, but was he dressed as a freaking fairy? Before Chelsea could protest, a wave of glitter came at her face. She couldn't help but cough as she was caked with 'fairy dust', but once the initial shock wore off she still wore a smile on her face. Chelsea wasn't a huge fan of glitter, but she wasn't much bothered by the glitter today. It was Halloween, after all. Plus, she was going to take a shower after this anyway. "Well, I'd say glitter's fitting for a goddess. They're supposed to sparkle and shine, aren't they? Or wait, is that vampires?" The quip was too good to resist. "Of course we can try to find some of the others. Just so long as we stay clear of Errol. I know you're dating him and all, but you know how well the two of us get along..." Which was to say, not at all. Therefore, it was best that they avoid each other, though who knew if Errol would stick to that prescription? Word Count: 278 To: Open Notes: Costume. And yay glitter.

Chess was perfectly fine with her costume and did not feel the need to dress any differently just because she had a boyfriend. She changed nothing she did actually, and he seemed to be fine with it, and maybe it was even why he liked her. He certainly seemed to not mind that was for sure. Anyway though she definitely could see Chels smiling at the fact that Jack the Ripper was dressed as a faerie. Hell he was even wearing a tutu. He looked slightly ridiculous, but it was Halloween after all, and so it was honestly to be expected. Though of all people they probably should have expected it most from Raven seeing as the guy was an absolute lunatic half the time. Anyway, she was going to concentrate back on the dance and talking to Chelsea. Seeing as she had just pelted the girl with glitter and all.
It seemed though that she wasn’t going to protest, being hit with glitter, in the slightest. Fine with Chess seeing as it made this easier and so she would be able to keep hanging out with the girl. Being that if she had gotten upset then Chess would have just gone and found someone else to pelt with the sparkly material. She smiled at the statement at first, but then had to shake her head at the remark about sparkly vampires. It was such a ridiculous concept the girl had to say. ”Vampires should certainly not sparkle, but goddesses should yes.” she said with a smile at the girl in front of her.
With a shrug she just smiled again at the next statement. She knew quite well that her friend did not get along with her boyfriend in the slightest. ”That’s fine, I want to talk to my friends for a while before dealing with his nonsense anyway” she said with a smile. Which, honestly, Errol was definitely filled with nonsense. Seemed he had gotten a group of guys to dress up as sailors even. They were going around as apparently 'seamen' which was just ridiculous. How he had managed to get that many people to agree to it she wasn't sure. Ah well, she would have to ask him about it later when she finally decided to go dance with him or something. Which, she probably would eventually, but currently she would be hanging out with Chels and tossing glitter at random people she knew.

On another occasion, Chelsea might have protested at the glitter bomb. She wasn't the most girly girl person in the world, if only because she hated the idea that girls had to be...well, girly. But honestly, it was Halloween. She was willing to put up with it for Halloween. So long as she didn't have to overly objectify herself. Chelsea snorted. "I dare you to go up to a vampire tonight and blow some glitter at them. I'd pay to see how they would react." Though knowing some girls, they'd probably squeal in delight. It was a little amusing to think about, though in the end Chelsea would have to shake her head. She had a feeling most of the guys would freak out. Though Chelss could handle herself from what Chelsea knew. Even Chelsea had taken a lesson on how to defend herself. She wasn't sure how well her lessons would let her fare if she were caught on the streets alone, but she now carried around pepper spray. There was no way she'd let herself be a victim. Not Susan B. Anthony, oh no. Chelsea let out a snort. "Shouldn't be too hard to avoid him, so long as you avoid anyone in a sailor outfit." Her own brother was amongst the sailors. She was avoiding him tonight as well, though to be fair, she and Mark usually didn't spend too much time together in public. They were from different crowds (especially with her being a reincarnate and his being a normal). The fact that he'd dressed up in a group costume with Errol, though, just made her want to avoid him that much more. Especially since she didn't have her pepper spray with her for the dance... Looking back at the refreshment table behind her, she shook her head. "I'm going to ask you lay off the punch this year, though. I don't think it'll be spiked, but I don't know how much Errol will enjoy you hitting on Isa again." She paused, then added. "Or Isa herself, either." It was amusing, but definitely awkward for all parties involved... Word Count: 373 To: Open Notes: Costume.
