As I'm sure you are aware, judging by the fact that most of you are marking down the days toward the start of your holiday break on your calendars (don't worry, the staff is doing it too!), Christmas is fasting approach, as is Hannukah, Kwanzaa, or whatever else you may celebrate!
That being said, Riverdale will be holding it's annual Christmas Ball on the 23rd day of December from 7:00 PM through until 11:00 PM. Our ball is easily the most classy event to be a part of the Riverdale culture, and one of our proudest.
The gym will be decked out in true festive spirits; elegant candles, trees, some festive, but no gaudy, lights; something for any of you staying at Riverdale over the holidays can enjoy.
Remember, Riverdale students, that people from the Eastwood High in lower Riverdale will also be in attendance; please keep your manners.
We are proud of the tradition initiated many years ago by our first Christmas Ball, and hope to continue this tradition for many years to come. Our Ball, as always, is a formal event, and as such the dress code must follow. Boys (or girls who so choose) must wear, at the very least, a dress shirt and formal dress pants, as well as a tie or bow tie. Girls (or boys who so choose) may wear a classy yet conservative dress. Nothing too far above the knees, ladies (or gentlemen). Yes, girls, you can show up in a tux and boys in a dress but you MUST come dressed up, and any failure to comply with dress code at attempt to entry or during the dance will result in removal from the dance.
There is no fee to enter, though we are accepting donations of $5.00 for the Salvation Army this year. The collection receptacle will be located just outside the entrance. Student ID's must be displayed upon entrance.
THIS IS A DISCLAIMER You DO NOT have to attend the Ball. You DO NOT have to be Christian to attened the Ball. This Ball IS religiously themed. This Ball WILL start with a prayer, and end with one. This is a tradition. It has gone on for 70 years. This will NOT change. Thank you. You have been informed. Now please stop sending me angry letters. You don't write angry letters to the people airing Christmas specials, or the people doing Christmas ads, or Santas in malls. So stop. It gets old.
Merry Christmas, and happy holidays!
