MY SHADOW'S THE ONLY ONE THAT WALKS BESIDE ME!
MY SHALLOW HEART'S THE ONLY THING THAT'S BEATING!
If you would told Cindy earlier that she would have a parade of traitorous ambushed friends today, she would have laugh at you and told you you're insane and that she would even by set up by her friends, especially not her boyfriend, Nate Driscoll. Didn't change the fact that she was currently blindfolded and cuffed to her chair of her precious silver Dodge Charger SE whilst she tried her hardest not to get herself into a big trepidation. Sadly she was losing the inner conflict with herself and it wasn't ever day you got yourself stage by your own loved ones. Oh, wait, unless you have Orville Wright for a brother.
Somehow, that brother of hers got Willy into calling her about going on a date and, of course, she went and prettied herself up with casual wear since he said they were rollerblading. Next she went outside and saw Oliver waiting by her car. Soon Winifred Young, or Fred as she called her, who been Amelia Earhart, show up with Alison, Nate's sister, and Lenita in toll. Nathan had shown up next and Cindy (dumbie her) didn't think of why would her other friends be here, so naturally like breathing she went over to Nate and embraced him with a greeting kiss before Fred blindfolded her, and she felt herself being led by her boyfriend and shove into the car, passenger side, by Lenita. Fred had belted her in there and Alison had cuffed her and told her it was for her own good before Oliver started the car engine and she yelled at her friends, saying to them ‘how could you allow Oliver to drive’ and calling each of them by name: their past names in retribution.
Before they went she felt the warmth of her boyfriend as he hugged her and kissed her forehead. He coaxed her into calming down and reassured her that everything will be fine before releasing her and the sound of the car door closing echoed in her ears. “Nate, please! Don’t leave me,” she pleaded, forlorn in her voice. She felt his kiss again and told her he would be there for her. “Willy!” she said before the window closed and they were off.
When she found out what else was a miss, Cindy yelled at her brother, bordering on temperature of her frustration, fury, and anxious. "Oliver, you did not touch my car and tune her, did you!" she stated as she heard the unfamiliar sound of a tune up. “Who let you near my baby?” she shrieked.
Now, some time later, Cindy was still in the car with Oliver and panic was sinking in. She hated being defenseless and hopeless.
Cindy was so going to get back at him for this one once she figure out how to escape, but first find out what he was doing and where the heck he was driving them to and why did he have to drive so fast, it was enough that she was in an adrenaline rush without the whole speeding to worry her more. Her hands clinging and unclinging to try and grab with failure since she was handcuffed away from the brakes and she couldn't even see the view in front of her. Did she even want to know what's in front of her? Nope. Especially seeing herself as a worried wreck who kept whimpering at the slightly turmoils of the sound of the traffic around them.
"Oliver, please slow down!" She moaned as she tried to reason with him, but she had the feeling that if he did that he thought she might escape even handcuffed. Which wasn't a lie, she could squeeze her hands out of the cuffs, it was a talent yet couldn't when her mind was in a tunnel of pummeling reactions to the growing fear in the pit of her stomach. She winced at a small bump they went over. "Please, Oliver!" she gripped the fabrics of the seat coverings with knuckles whiten at her fear and of losing feeling in her fingers by her hard on strength of holding on. "Don't harm my baby," she repeated all of these inquiries before, but Oliver wouldn't listen. "Darn you, Orville!" she exclaimed again and cringed at the noise of the parkway.
Soon the car slow to a stop, and the engine turned off. Oliver went out of the door with the sound of a door opening and closing before the sound of opening her door and the sound of a key clicking with one cuff then other cuff as she was uncuffed. She was breathing hard and snaking breath of panic and fear subsided. She wanted to uncover her eyes and reached a trembling hand upwards.

Oliver did have doubts as to whether this was the best way to go about helping Cindy get over her fear of flying. It sounded fun at first, and really, it was. He always did enjoy a good prank, and he knew that Cindy hadn't been expecting something like this. That was the best part of a prank, of course - Catching someone completely by surprise. Now that he thought about it, as he drove Cindy out to the countryside? He wondered if it was really such a good idea to get Cindy's blood pressure up before she even made it out onto the field. In response to Cindy's comments about his driving, Oliver couldn't help but raise an eyebrow (though he realized belatedly that Cindy wouldn't see it). "I've been driving longer than almost anyone here, if you think about it. Besides, I need to get in practice for my driver's test somehow." The only problem was, Oliver wasn't the best at obeying speed limit signs. He wasn't a bad driver, as he did have the experience, and he did follow most of the traffic laws. Still, he drove perhaps a bit too overconfident, and when Cindy was already blindfolded and disoriented, of course it would feel even worse than it already was. Oliver was at a stop light when Cindy asked him about the tune up. He could hear the tone in her voice and it bothered him. "C, relax. It's not like I don't know what I'm doing." While before his tone had been teasing, he sounded a bit exasperated at this. He'd created a flying machine in the past, yet everyone reacted as though letting him anywhere near anything mechanical was asking for trouble. Success was more common than accidents, though of course people had a tendency to talk more about the accidents. It was still expressly annoying, though. And though people joked (himself included) about the possibility of him adding wings to Cindy's car, he hoped she wasn't taking it that seriously. Besides, Oliver and Nate had a long way to go before they were at that stage anyway. To Oliver's credit, he did slow down at Cindy's pleas. He had to grin a little as Cindy called her car 'my baby', though to be fair, he did have to admit that if anyone touched the Wright Flyer in the way he'd hijacked his sister car he would have killed them, most likely. He pulled into a parking spot at the hang gliding field that he'd hang glided at once before with Lenita, and where he might hang glide with Isa in the future, if she so desired (she had expressed interest). Oliver had one other person he wanted to hang glide with first, though. Oliver hated to see the way Cindy's fear of flying affected her life, and wanted to show her that it was alright. They'd start small and they would work their way up, just the way Isa was doing with her own fire fears and that Febreze candle in the RSOR room. He'd known that Cindy would not go willingly, but he also knew that Cindy could not go the rest of her life with the paralyzing fear that she had. Not when it had been such a prominent part of her life before. Oliver climbed out of the car and undid her handcuffs. He'd thought the handcuffs were a little much, but they'd been brought just in case, and with the way Cindy put up a struggle at first Alison had apparently deemed them necessary. "I'm sorry, the handcuffs were a bit overkill...can't say I wanted you to climb out in the middle of the freeway, though." And with her phobia as heightened as it was, he wouldn't put it past her to do just that when and if she discovered where they were going. Fortunately, with the blind fold, she remained unaware. As Cindy reached her hands upward, and Oliver saw how much he was trembling, he let out a shaky sigh of his own. It would only get worse when she discovered what they were doing, and he knew it. Perhaps he should have asked one of their friends to tag along after all... Oliver reached forward to remove Cindy's blindfold, a frown on his face. "I'm sorry C, but...you can't go on living like this. I promise, we won't do anything too extreme if you don't want to, and I will not let anything happen to you. I just...knew you wouldn't agree to this if we didn't force you here. We probably could have gone about it in a better way, but..." He let out an odd sort of laugh. "I promise I won't let anything happen to you, C. I promise." And he meant it too. "I just want you to give it a shot. I could even go with you, if you want. I'm a little bit of an expert in the field." He smiled a little, in what he hoped was a reassuring way. He could take her yelling at him, but he did not want her to turn away. That wasn't Cindy Winchester. That wasn't Harriet Quimby. She was a strong woman who could tackle this. Oliver just had to lure that woman back out to the forefront. Word count: 920 To: Open! Notes: Booyah

MY SHADOW'S THE ONLY ONE THAT WALKS BESIDE ME!
MY SHALLOW HEART'S THE ONLY THING THAT'S BEATING!
Cindy was quite overwhelming angry at her brother and at her friends and her boyfriend, and she wondered why they could possibly see to have force her into her car with her brother at the steering wheel. She couldn’t cool her fury or her fear as she groaned and whimpered at being blindfolded and cuffed to the passenger seat of her car. They have definitely captured her and illegally sent her in this direction. She kept thinking it over in her mind why they wanted her to do whatever her brother was going to do with her. She had a funny (pardon the bad pun) feeling that she knew because deep down her stomach was doing the dance of doom and the butterflies were threatening to make her abdomen swell like Bella’s did in Breaking Dawn when she had been pregnant with Renesmee. At least, she didn’t have to worrying about her baby biting her way out of her, did she?
She feared for not only herself, but her silver beauty of a car. She wasn’t at all concern with Oliver’s life (though she was, but she was angry at him) and she wasn’t in a forgiving mood once this journey of theirs came to an end. She wished to the heavens that she didn’t feel the huge urge to backlash her brother’s rear for his cheek about driving longer and of needing the practice. He was lucky no police officers came by them or she was sure her brother will be arrest for speeding and unlawful kidnapping? She didn’t want to think about it as she remains quiet and choose not to response to his comments. She just pursed her lips into a pout and felt for her seat covering, gripping hard again.
It was sufficient good for lightening her load of emotions when Oliver did indeed slow down and she let out the breath of air that had been lunged in her throat, not even realizing that she had been holding her breath at one point. She was glad for the softer ride, but her nerves were still tense with phobia-tis as if it knew what was coming. She tried to pay no heed to the warning lights her neutrons sent electrically to tinkling at her hands and feet, as she tried and relaxed without having to deal with whatever doom her brother was in tend to do for her.
As she waited to have the blindfold remove, Cindy stiffen as Oliver told her what he had been waiting to tell her and really what was she suppose to do with that knowledge. She could see again and noticed the field out beyond them and she felt herself getting increasingly mad at what her friends and brother did to her. At the same time, longing was in her angry glisten eyes at the feeling of being able to fly again to off. It was her calling and her desire to be back in the skies, but her fear wasn’t helping it as a building conflict was tormenting her on the inside.
“Oliver Orville Wright Winchester,” she said with a raised voice at him. “How could you! How could Willy! And Fred and…” she hissed out a furious breath and inhaled again. “Why!” She wanted to run away; just get out of the car and rush away from the glider she knew was waiting for her. She quivered with anticipation of the flight and of fear of crushing, and just by her eyes you could tell of the terrible brawl she was having on in her mind and it was quite a quarrel going on.
Of course, on the inside, Harriet Quimby was grateful for him and felt happy to be there, and yes, Cindy couldn’t really blame her brother who was a Wright brother to help her find her wings again. Did she really blame him for this miserable she was going to endure? She didn't know.
Cindy brushed Oliver to the side, so she may stand up on her shaken legs, bracing herself on the car door frame. She was taking deep breathes as she looked up at a few kites in the sky and of the glider flying the distance away. She closed her eyes as she rubbed at her wrists from the cuffs, they were a bit red at the struggles she put up against them, but their pain was barely noticeable it was her inner torture that was causing her the agony as her wrists weren’t part of what was to come.
“I miss it,” she said, her voice filled with desire and painful longing at the sky above. She sighed heavily and looked at Oliver with the mixed pain and desire in her eyes, forlorn by her want for the sky and by her fear of it. It was truly happening to be a very big step in a long run of being able to spend her wings.

Oliver knew that Cindy would be angry with him, and likely with the others. It wasn't as though he'd forced the others to join in either. They'd all joined in of their own free will (although he did have to do a little prodding when it came to Alison). In the end, though, he thought that it would be worth it, provided that everything went right. Cindy's reaction did not surprise him at all. He took Cindy's berating in stride, primarily because he knew what to expect. Even Cindy's use of both his current name and his past name in tandem didn't seem to phase him. Instead, he simply gazed at Cindy, a contemplative frown on his face as he listened to what his sister had to say. While the right thing to do might have seemed to be turning around and driving back to the town given Cindy's reaction, Oliver knew Cindy well enough to see the dilemma that Cindy was in. He could see the conflicted look in her eyes. It confirmed everything that he was thinking. Cindy really did want to fly again, but her fears were holding her back. Was it so wrong for him to want to wipe all of that away? Granted, he probably could have gone about it in a much better way, that didn't border on kidnapping, but it was a little too late to revise the first part of the plan. What was done was done. "I know you don't like this, but you and I both know that you need to do this at some point." Oliver wasn't sure how to react when Cindy brushed him aside to bring herself to her feet. While she still did not look pleased, she was also getting out of the car, which was a step in the correct direction as far as he was concerned. His brows were now furrowed slightly as he eyed Cindy curiously, wondering what on Earth was going on in her head and what would be the next course of action. He maintained a distance of a few feet for now. Part of it was to offer Cindy some personal space, though admittedly part of it was so that he was out of range of Cindy in case she decided to aim another outburst at him. Cindy's next words gave Oliver hope that perhaps all of this wasn't in vain. The smallest of smiles crept across his face as his sister admitted what he'd suspected all along. He bridged the distance between himself and his sister slightly before speaking. "I know you do. I know you don't just dream about your...what happened." Oliver paused, allowing both himself and Cindy time to recover from Oliver's very near miss. "I've heard you talking in your sleep about the experience itself." The final evidence in his favor? "You kept that hang glider from when we were kids. You wouldn't have kept it if it didn't mean something to you." She certainly wouldn't have kept it if it only meant terror to her. She had to have some sort of attachment to it, an attachment that did not allow her to get rid of it despite the negative associations. A positive association. Oliver held out a hand for his sister to take. "Shall we? Or do you need a bit more time to think?" He was willing to let her wait if she so desired, Whatever she needed to get over this huge hurdle. Oliver's eyes drifted out over the field along with his sister's as he spotted a glider. "Beautiful, isn't it?" He stated as he watched it arc through the sky with the grace of a bird. What Cindy didn't realize was that they wouldn't be using that glider, but rather a surprise that Oliver had hidden in the truck of Cindy's Dodge Charger SE. He flicked a button on the keys and the trunk went flying up, exposing the glider inside. It was the glider that Nate had given Oliver for Christmas, that the two of them had done a few modifications on. The fact that he'd worked with this glider was important to Oliver, as he trusted he and Wilbur's handiwork more than anyone else's. That said... "If you need me to, I can go first to prove to you that it's safe." Word count: 762 To: Open! Notes: I agree. XD We're so nice to our characters, LOL.

MY SHADOW'S THE ONLY ONE THAT WALKS BESIDE ME!
MY SHALLOW HEART'S THE ONLY THING THAT'S BEATING!
Such an innocent looking machine, that was the grand say of the hang glider and the airplane yet both meant too much to Cindy. Right with all the bottled up emotions within her threatening to once more give stream to her fears and ambitions. She wished for courage and all as she faced with her dread thoughts.
It was there in front of her; her hopes, dreams, and fears, and yet she couldn't bear to part from the car because she had a feeling she would collapse and her being a frugal flyer would be for nothing. Her horrid death would be repeated again and her life now would be over. Of course, her fear was speaking to her and it was truly a frightening notion for her to not accept movement to the opening before her.
Here she was leaning against the hardcore frame of her Dodge Charger SE, searching for a way to figure out how she was going to do this. She looked less parsimonious because she knew of her wastefulness towards the skies. She had been a good pilot, the first American female licensed pilot of the aeroplane. It had been a good feeling and she wished it to be so again.
Could she still be that pilot, flying proudly and honestly in the skies, being modest about it as always? She needed to try, right? She could, or she wasn't worthy of her dream.
The words of what her brother told her sting true as it rush back inside her head and sang its penetrating notes: "I know you don't like this, but you and I both know that you need to do this at some point." She had to do this, but could she do it now. She should do this. She would be walking onto the open grounds at least, right? She needed to think and plan what she must do…
It was often a miserable for her to be standing out in the field with fear choking her down to the ground. She was very depress and very wounded by both what her conflicts were making her not to and by what her beloved annoying brother had just done to her. She hated being like this it was pure misery and pure disgrace for her life and dreams of flight.
Why did he have to mention that? She thought bitterly as she flinched at the memories of her death, closing her eyes shut tight. It was why she was so pitiful with her phobia and it didn’t help to be reminded. A moment passes as her brother and her stood silently as Oliver allowed the almost near miss of her timing death as Harriet Quimby, soon he was saying again. She fought the small grin wanting to enter, the corner of her lip twitching with her struggle, but she did have dreams of the first time she flew and it was exhilarating. It had been her stimulant: the flight of a glider or pilot, (the air roaring pass her), and being free to roam the skies without fear of discrimination or prejudice in her mind as the flight took over her, the chi of life and death in the balance brought her much joy. Her grin escaped her control as he said that final straw that really would inspirited her about the hang glider she made and flew as a child still oblivious to her on how she dead and she did still have it.
Her eyes open once more and she gasped slightly at seeing the stupendous glider in the air. She wanted to be up there. She truly did; her body tingling with anticipation. It’s been too long since her last jovial feeling about being in the air again. She sighed with longing as she looked at where her brother went off to and her eyes were doused with awe and ecstatic at the magnificent hang glider. She itched to touch it, but some feeling of worries entered and she dragged her hand back to be held by her other over her heart to show how much she really wanted to just be once with the air and of her fright with heights and flying, nibbling at her lower lip as she continued to stare at the glider.
“You made it? With Nate?†She asked finally as she thought over what to do next.

Oliver did not expect for Cindy to comply with his requests that easily. He wasn't going to force her to either. Just the fact that she was not stomping back into the car demanding that he drive her back (or worse, leaving without him - though in that case, it was likely that she'd realize that she would be in trouble for ditching her brother in the middle of the Riverdale countryside) was a step in the right direction as far as he was concerned. That she was actually outside of the vehicle looking contemplative and troubled was another. Sure, she was afraid, but she wasn't running. Not yet, at least. It was hard to know what was going through Cindy's head at this time. He found himself wishing that she would say something so as to give him some sort of idea where she stood. The senior remained silent, however, and Oliver was left to contemplations of his own. If she did agree, if he could actually get her to give hang gliding a try, where would be the best lift off point? Also, just how slowly should he take it with Cindy? Then again, if they were already soaring into the air, there was only so much Oliver could do. He could adjust direction and controls, yes. Even height to some extent. Gliders were far more at the mercy of the wind than powered machines, however, and that was a heavy disadvantage when it came to guaranteeing his sister's safety. Oliver knew they couldn't enter an actual airplane at this point, however. Maybe if she couldn't see the actual act of flying (she'd managed to survive the flight to London somehow, after all), but he could guarantee that would not be the case here. Moreover, he knew better than to say anything directly to Cindy at this point in time. Having survived a plane crash himself, h knew it wasn't so easy to just enter the aircraft and take flight as though it were nothing. His first flight in the United States after his accident at Fort Myers resulted in his hitting a tree. Fortunately only minor damages resulted, but it was clear that the incident the year before had left a mark. He closed his eyes a few moments as he thought back, phantom pain momentarily shooting through his limbs. His eyes flew open again as he returned his attention to his current sister. He knew that she was going through a rough time. However, he also remained convinced that in the long run, tbis was best for Cindy. That look of longing as the blonde gazed at ghe sky was more than enough proof for the reincarnate freshman. As Cindy addressed him about the glider, Oliver could not help but grin. "Sort of. Will and I modified one that his cousin gave him that he passed on to me for Christmas." In the case of these two, modification translated to completely disassembling the glider and rebuilding it to their liking, of course, so Cindy wad essentially correct in her first assumption. Oliver looked at his current sister expectantly, wondering what she might say or do next. Word count: 535 To: Open! Notes: I have no idea why I have the 'to' listed as open...but I don't feel like changing it now. XD
