Oliver shrugged. "That does work sometimes. At least with my family, the excuse 'we're doing this in school' usually works." He didn't have to make any excuses with Cindy, though with the rest of the Winchesters and any extended family he knew that he had to. It was nice, though, allowing some of his true self to shine around them and having a built in excuse for it. Then again, were they truly buying it? Surely they must have thought back once or twice to the strange signs Oliver showed when he was a child that he was no normal child. Maybe they just didn't want to acknowledge it. Maybe they wanted to pass it off as a phase, rather than seeking out the truth. Oliver didn't know, and, to be honest, wasn't sure if he wanted to dwell on it all that much.
His voice dropped considerably in volume at his next words. "I know the feeling." Oliver wasn't money hungry by any means either, but who didn't want financial security? Most important to Oliver was a feeling of belonging, though. Family was of utmost importance to him. He wasn't a big fan of large crowds, but he didn't like being alone either. One of his greatest fears was a fear of abandonment by those he cared for the most.
At the mention of the Wizard possibly being someone from the inside, Oliver made a face. He hoped it wasn't that. RSOR was a safe place, and that there might be someone unsafe within that safe place...of course that bothered him!
"Least it proves for a pretty easy class? Plus there are a few new things to learn." More recent history, new discoveries in science, the fact that Pluto was not a planet at the beginning of his first life, but was a planet at the end of his first life; then it was a planet at the beginning of his second life, but was demoted from it's planet status to dwarf planet status. It was enough to give any guy a headache. Poor Pluto, though. What did it do to to deserve that?
Oliver grinned at the mention of a hoverboard. That would be hilarious, if hoverboards were actually on the market by 2015. Highly unlikely, but hilarious. A time machine was far more complicated, and far more tempting to those in RSOR. How many in RSOR would take advantage of a time machine to travel back to when and where they first lived? Maybe not so much the recent reincarnates, but the ones from further back...he could see a temptation there. Oliver's own past life hey-day was nary a century before, yet he still felt that temptation. Why wouldn't he? The late 19th and early 20th centuries were just as much home to him as the late 20th and early 21st, if not more so.
Ah, another inside joke. If he didn't like Aiden for other reasons, he would certainly warm up to the guy after all of these jokes. Oliver appreciated a good sense of humor. "Only for one lifetime? Well then, you may be in for more trouble yet..." Hey, he walked into that one - and, sadly, it was probably true. Drama and action were in no short demand at Riverdale High.
