Personal Style: One of Juliet's passions is fashion. She loves the magazines, the shows, all of it. Her own personal style is a mixture of what's “hot” on the runways—her father, being fairly wealthy, can afford to supply her with things shipped in fresh from Paris—and what she deems vintage, cool or otherwise a must-have. This understandably comes across as a bit of a mish-mosh of odd and not-always-fashionable, but not too odd. She's just not the type of girl to throw on jeans and a t-shirt. She prefers skirts in general, though she's been crazy about leggings ever since came into vogue. She also likes “big” jewelry—earrings, long beaded necklaces—anything that's just a little out-of-the-ordinary, unique or over-the-top, that's what Juliet wears.
Appearance: Juliet has long, almost-strawberry-blonde hair; it falls to at least the small of her back. She hasn't had it cut, really cut, in a very long time. Her mother always says her hair is her best feature and would probably have a heart attack if she cut it short. She has a longish face with a pale, freckled complexion and prominent rosy cheekbones. Her favorite thing about herself are her eyes: big, blue and expressive.
As for the rest of her, she is pretty “average.” She's skinny but not rail-thin, short but by no means a midget—though sometimes the athletes around Riverdale make her feel like one. She thinks that she has great legs but is disappointed that she's not as “well-endowed” as she would like, worrying that it might deter her from becoming a successful actress someday, since image is very important. All together, she's no great beauty, but she's “pretty enough” to make her father look good.
HOPE AND HORROR
MIXED IN BLOOD
Likes: vintage clothing, flowers, tree swings, snow, Christmas trees, stationary, musicals, Shakespeare, hot tea, ice skating, cats, art galleries
Dislikes: spiders, dirt, gym/athletics, the dark, extreme heat, public bathrooms, silence, romantic comedies, coffee, church
Dreams: becoming a professional actress (broadway or hollywood); becoming a fashion designer
Fears: being considered “weird” (in a bad way); gaining a lot of weight; losing her voice; the real world; failing to achieve her dream of acting
Habits/Hobbies: winding strands of hair around her finger, tapping her pencil/pen/fingers when she's impatient or annoyed, singing in the shower, skipping through the halls, acting, some singing, reading fashion magazines, “monologing” in her room
Secret(s): She has serious stage fright and is always forced to find ways to overcome it, since she loves acting so much.
Personality: Juliet is by no means a shy person. She's loud—in as ladylike a way as possible—she's excitable, she's fun. She knows how to have a good time and how to make anything a party. One is liable to find Juliet quoting Othello in the stairwell as she goes to class, raving over the newest Louis Vuitton bag to a friend or simply being, well, loud about any number of different things. She may be singing “Evita” in the shower in the morning or practicing for the next school production at dinner instead of having a real conversation with friends. She's basically liable to do anything as long as it's “acceptable”–as long as people pass it off as Juliet being a fun, bubbly person and not a “weird drama kid.”
She also has a quieter side. When she's alone—or at least hasn't consumed too much caffeinated Starbucks tea—she can be a different person altogether. She studies hard sometimes, burying her nose in a book for hours on end. She can listen to Mozart and get lost in it, or take a long, silent walk through a garden or park. Of course, these times are few and far between compared to the others. She's none too fond of too much of such mundane things. She prefers noise and light and people to silence and solitude.
As a senator's daughter, she can also be quite poised and polished (though generally not around the theatre), speaking clearly, sitting with perfect posture—that sort of thing. It can rub some the wrong way; they call her snobby, even a bitch, thinking she's high and mighty and above everyone. In truth, she is a little spoiled, but she generally doesn't take it for granted. She knows that she'll someday have to fend for herself—her father isn't one to give handouts after they're necessary. Once she's out of school, she'll be on her own with only her image and reputation to lean on, so she makes the most of building a positive one while she can.
For all her dramatics, however, she has a real stage fright though it only plagues her ON the stage when a legitimate audience has gathered. Over the years, however, she has gotten more and more adept at battling it until it only bothers her occasionally. Her method is fairly simple: she simply convinces herself, or tries to, that she is in fact her character. It is not Juliet Daivs but rather Juliet Capulet who runs the risk of embarrassing herself. This method does not always work, particularly in smaller roles, but neither do the usually-suggested fixes such as picturing the audience in their underwear; she generally finds those more distracting than helpful as well as unprofessional. She is, however, quite determined to make this her career and therefore also to find a permanent solution to this stumbling block.
PRETTY BOY, PRETTY GIRL

Father: Charles Ethan Davis, senator, 49
Siblings: Lily Catherine & Lucy Rose, 11; Olivia June, 7
Other: n/a
Pets: none
Hometown: New York City, New York
History: Juliet was born to Susanna and Charles Davis when they were still “in love” and not yet a “poltical couple.” For that reason, perhaps, she was a spoiled and beloved little girl, a daddy's girl. Her mother loved showing her off and taking her everywhere—to the ballet, to Central Park, to museums, anywhere. She had everything she could ask for for the first five years of her life...and then a big speed bump interfered with her happy childhood. Actually, there were two: twin daughters named Lucy and Lily. They stole Susanna's attention, as did Charles' looming political career. The family dynamic had begun to change. There were more frequent, louder fights between husband and wife behind closed doors. Juliet was still spoiled, but it became a game of favoritism: his father ignored the twins and showered gifts on his firstborn instead.
Perhaps it was for lack of maternal affection that young Juliet therefore began to engage in what her mother called “dramatics.” She threw tantrums, which her mother complained gave her a headache and her father ignored, but it was made very clear that in public, Charles expected her to behave like a “perfect little princess.” This dual life probably sewed the seeds of a career in those same dramatics, beginning with a Christmas pageant in which she tried desperately to give her dull character, Mary, new life, with interesting results. In her private middle school, however, she quickly rose to “stardom,” parse.
By that time, of course, her youngest sister Olivia had been born. Liv's birth was a shock to everyone in the family and suddenly Susanna simply gave up as a mother. She chose to go to functions and gallery showings instead of care for her children, paying high-priced nannies to look after them instead. Juliet hated this feeling of abandonment by both parents, one too busy with political matters to worry very much about his family, the other simply beyond caring. She tried to be a mother-figure to Lucy, Lily and Olivia, and ultimately overcame her childish resentment of the twins having “stolen” their mother: now they were all in the same boat.
Naturally, especially being New Yorkers, her mother's new social habits did not go unnoticed by the media. The tabloids, smelling blood, jumped at the opportunity to smear Senator Davis' perfect family. It was as though they were lurking behind cars and trees and buildings, because every time the girls emerged from their house, cameramen and reporters hounded them, particularly Juliet, as the eldest and also perceived as her father's favorite. Thus during her eighth grade year, Juliet kept her head down at school. She did not act in any of the plays, or even audition for them, and suffered through taunting from some of her own classmates.
So when she received a letter from Riverdale she jumped at the chance to go. She was eager to escape the city, even if it meant leaving her little sisters behind. She was delighted to make friends who didn't know that she was a senator's daughter, or at least didn't seem to know the seedy details about their lives. She joined the drama program almost immediately, and aside from a few bumps in the road, she's been quite happy here so far.
