`INE: the trailer

alright. i finally did it. i wrote the script for an INE mock trailer. so, here is the script. read it. tell me what you think. this is a first draft (no spell check done...so...it might be absolute shit, haha) and i don't intend to shoot this bad boy until, like, january. so...plenty of time to revise if need be.

anyway, read it. =D

oh, and some quick movie lingo for you to understand.

V.O. is voice over.
smash cut is when there is no transition between two frames. it usually happens to add a dramatic effect.
here is an example (towards the end)
smash cuts are usually between a regular scene to black but they can also be between scenes.

and a cross transition is when the previous image blurs into the next frame you want and eventually dissolves away, leaving the new frame.

It Never Ends
Start in black. Voice over the black.

MAN’S VOICE: What’s your name?

ISA: Isabella Avadore.

MAN: What’s really your name?

She does not answer. There is silence before she cries out in pain. Smash cut to a dark room. Isabella Avadore is tied to a chair, bloody and bruised. Her head his bent, her breathing labored. She does not look up when she is questioned.

OFF SCREEN VOICE (same man from before): Where are the others?

She says nothing. She does not speak. So, she gets hit again. Upon impact, smash cut to black. Her cry of pain and her panting is heard as white text appears onto the screen: "The soul is not born; it does not die; it was not produced from anyone… Unborn, eternal, it is not slain, though the body is slain." - Emerson


V.O. ISA: Reincarnation. The rebirth of a soul to a new body.

Slowly fade in from black to a slo-mo moving frame of houses. The town. Mundane…boring…normal human things.

V.O. ISA: Reincarnation has been happening for years. People of all times and ages come back and relive their lives in peace and quiet, undetected among the normals.

Cut to a high school, as students pass, slow zoom on TALIA texting away.

V.O. ISA: Who knows? Maybe that’s Bonnie Parker texting by her locker.

Cut to OLIVER in gym class, bent over and tying his shoe.

V.O. ISA: Or that awkward kid in gym class? He could be Orville Wright.

OLIVER straightens up, and the moment he does, he gets hit in the head with a ball. Cut to JENNAH, clutching books to her chest and walking down an empty hallway.

V.O. ISA: Maybe that quiet girl is actually the Chinese female warrior, Wang Cong’er.

Cut to ISA in the library, reading and taking notes.

V.O. ISA: Or maybe I — the exceptional, good girl student — was once Joan of Arc.

Cross fade to students walking through the hall, ECHO on one side and ANGELO on the other.

V.O. ISA: There was once a time when our true identities were kept secret from the normals.

ANGELO and ECHO make eye contact as they pass each other. Slo-Mo.

V.O. ISA: Only we reincarnates knew each other’s true identities.

Follow ANGELO over his shoulder and out the door.

V.O. ISA: But now?

When the door closes, smash cut to black again.

V.O. ISA: Our secret is out.

Cut to TALIA walking past a group of girls. They stop in mid-conversation and just stare at her as she passes them. She tries not to notice them and keep walking.

V.O. ISA: Some fear us because of who we used to be…

Cut to OLIVER getting shoved, his books flying out of his hands

V.O. ISA: …Or think us to be freaks.

ISA steps into the frame and helps OLIVER pick up his things.

V.O. ISA: Insane…

She hands him his things back and gives him a small smile. He attempts to return it, but he just sighs. He takes his things and stands back up and walks away. Isa watches him walk away sadly.

V.O. ISA: Hazards to society, even. But persecution from our peers is the last of our worries. The government apparently envies our “immortality” and crave to control the uncontrollable acts of a higher power. They want to, somehow, re-create the process of reincarnation so that important officials, politicians and the rich can live forever.

Cut to ISKANDER and JENNAH being held up in an alley way. ISKANDER gives JENNAH a shove towards the street as the thugs close in on them.

ISKANDER: Run, Jennah!

She hesitates, but when lunges towards her, she ducks and delivers an upper cut to his jaw. When the thug staggers back, she obeys and begins to run. She leaves the alley and keeps on running.

V.O. ISA: They’ve gone so far as to offer normals rewards to hunt us down and bring us to the government to be their guinea pigs. And should any get uncontrollably aggressive and resist…

There’s a gunshot. Jennah freezes. She turns and returns to the alley. The thugs are gone, but Iskander lies dead.

V.O. ISA: Get terminated.

JENNAH goes to his body and scoops him up in her arms. She whimpers, holding back her tears, his blood getting on her hands.

V.O. JENNAH: We can’t trust anyone anymore…We’re finished.

Cut to JENNAH and ISA standing in an empty school parking lot.

ISA: Don’t talk like that, Jennah—

JENNAH: It’s only a matter of time before we’re caught and erased from the face of the earth! There are spies everywhere, ready to give away our locations. If they got Iskander…they’re capable of taking us all.

JENNAH tries to get in her car and drive off, but ISA puts her hand on the door and prevents JENNAH from closing it. JENNAH looks up at ISA.

ISA: They can’t take us if we stand united.

ISA and JENNAH keep eye contact for a moment, ending with JENNAH getting back out of her car.

V.O. ISA: We weren’t given a second life by choice.

Smash cut to ISA talking before TALIA, OLIVER, JENNAH, ECHO and ANGELO. Her voice gets more emotional and powerful as she gives her speech. Pan over ISA and over the listening audience and their reactions.

ISA: We weren’t asked if we wanted to come back. But that does not mean we do not have a purpose on this earth again. That does not mean we will sit by and let the government take away this second chance we were given. We have a choice. Choose to stand together against the government! Choose to live up to who we used to be! Choose to end this madness!

TALIA punches her fist into the air.

TALIA: YEAH! STICK IT TO THE MAN!

There is an awkward pause where they all stare at her before ANGELO face palms.

V.O. ISA: So let them come. We’re prepared.

Cut to OLIVER holding up a pin to ISA

OLIVER: I designed these tracking devices. We all wear one so that if one of us gets abducted, they won’t stay abducted for long.

ISA: You’ve organized a rescue team, Oliver?

He grins sheepishly.

OLIVER: Well, since Talia and I are the only ones that don’t exactly have a job to do…I figured we could be the emergency rescue team.

ISA: …Lord, help us.

Cut to JENNAH being pinned face-first against a locker by TAMARA

V.O. ISA: We’re no longer afraid.

TAMARA leans close to JENNAH’S ear

TAMARA: I know what you are, freak!

She spins JENNAH around so JENNAH faces TAMARA and re-pins her.

TAMARA: And I’m going to make sure you get locked up.

JENNAH: You know what I am, huh?

JENNAH headbutts TAMARA, making TAMARA stumbled back, holding her head.

JENNAH: Then you should have known better than to pick a fight with me.

Cut to ECHO with his nunchuks, holding them at the ready as a thug circles him.

V.O. ISA: We’re strong.

Letting out his trademark Bruce Lee battle cry, ECHO charges. Cut to ANGELO designing posters to put up around town.

V.O. ISA: We’re taking a stand.

Cut to ISA in a field, on her knees praying, a sword in hand.

V.O. ISA: What have we got to lose anyway?

Cuts galore, here. Keep cutting between JENNAH fighting TAMARA, ECHO standing with his enemies laying defeated around him, ISA being dragged into an asylum, OLIVER on a computer, typing away and yelling into a headset to TALIA to run from an oncoming fight to TALIA smirking and taking off her headset and dropping it on the ground.

TALIA: Nobody tells Bonnie Parker what to do.

And keep on cutting. ANGELO putting up posters in the darkness, ISA holding her head and gritting her teeth from hearing the voices, JENNAH sobbing over ISKANDER, TALIA driving and OLIVER putting his face in his hands. Also, in all of these clips is title cards introducing each actor. The mass chaos of clips ends with ISA back in the field. She slowly looks up at heaven from her praying.

V.O. ISA: We’re reincarnates. Who’s to say we won’t come back? For all we know, it never ends.

Her eyes move from the sky to directly at the camera. She smirks a bit. Smash cut to black. Title card in white text: IT NEVER ENDS.
Cut back to TALIA and OLIVER, getting into TALIA’S car.

OLIVER: Shouldn’t we take more precaution in executing this rescue, Talia?

TALIA: Who would possibly come after us?

She spoke too soon. A hit man drops onto the hood of her car and two more rush up on the driver and passenger’s side of the car. TALIA and OLIVER slowly look over at each other and hesitate for a second before they scream.Smash cut to black.
