Fire was an interesting sensation to Errol. The crackle, the burn, the colors - he loved it, and then add in the flying neon...droplets, he supposed, but they looked waxy, and you had yourself a party. Normally he didn't like neon very much, but the droplets were so small he didn't mind. The smokey smell, the motion of the flames creating a sound similar to blowing into a pan (not the cooking implement, the musical instrument). Low and soft, so he could still hear the happy crackle. He liked fire, so long as he didn't combust. Students at Riverdale had a thing for combustion, and he didn't want to be part of that statistic. Naw, he was out to party. Party what? He didn't know. BY who? Hell, who knew who Sir HC was? That didn't matter. He was singing to the music, clapping and adding wood to the fire with the rest of them....until he saw the pink hair out of the corner of his eye.
Chess! He'd asked to meet her here, but hadn't seen her yet. He moved form his spot a few feet from the fire, and went right over and poked the girlfriend who he'd stalked for weeks previously, and kissed at random on Christmas. He wasn't sure how it happened, or anything. Maybe it hadn't and she was just humouring him. It was complicated.
The teen compose snuck up in the pink curls, before poking her side lightly. "Hello Chess!" He said brightly, despite the time of night. "I have poked ye."

Listen and wait for theEchoes of angels who won't return So there was apparently a school held bonfire, and apparently Errol wanted her to meet him there. Honestly she might not have gone if he hadn't asked. Being that as much as she liked fire it just didn't sound all that interesting. Though maybe she wasn't thinking about it enough. The note had said that it didn't matter if they brought alcohol just don't get caught. So she wasn't going to doubt that half the students would end up plastered. Which could get either annoying or amusing very fast. If it got annoying she supposed she could always just leave and her and Errol could find something else to occupy themselves with. She was pretty sure he wouldn't mind especially being that it would be just the two of them if they did decide to leave for whatever reason. Anyway this required her figuring out what the hell she was going to wear along with if she should bring anything. The outfit was the hard part of that too being that she had no idea how warm or cold it would be. She supposed she could always wear layers so that if she was too warm she could take off a layer. Or if she was cold she could curl up next to Errol and steal his body heat. There was also the fact that there would be a fire and thus it would be warm at least in that spot. So she decided on a light black hoodie, a neon purple cami, a grey skirt and bright blue leggings. Sure it was a bunch of bright colors, but hey Errol liked bright colors so might as well humor him for once.
Thus she curled her hair again and bounced her way to the bonfire at Riverdale's lake. It wasn't hard to find being that it was bright fire and all. The only thing that was slightly difficult to find was Errol. After all there were quite a few people there so she bounced around hoping to spot him. Seemed he spotted her though being that she felt a poke and turned around to see him. He said hi and that he had poked her and she just shook her head at him. "Oh hey, so it seems you have." she said then poked him back, only in the cheek. "Been here long?" she asked with a smile. After all she hoped she didn't keep him waiting too long. Being that they hadn't exactly picked a time just had to wing it and hope for the best. Though it was entirely possible he was here when they started the fire, in which case he had probably been waiting seeing as she hadn't been there long. So it took her a little while to get ready, sue her not like it was against the law. Besides, it seemed most people had just showed up as well, so no big deal really. She had decided to bring a medium sized bag with her so she could bring her camera, sketchbook, and a blanket if she wanted to curl up near the fire with Errol or something. Which, she probably would at some point, once it got later in the night and she became sleepy.

Errol hadn't a clue what to consider Chess right now. But she'd shown up at least, so for now he'd call her nothing, but call himself happy. She'd even worn bright colors, barring the black hoodie, but he was good with that. Neon blue wasn't the worst of the neon colors, but a big chunk of it (unlike the flames that now danced behind him) was a bit too crazy. Even for him. Neons were almost like...synthetic colors. But the fact she used color, whatever color, was bemusing to him, and kind of made him feel special. Normally he had the ego the size of a large planet (aka Sylent) but sometimes around Chess, not so much. There was not as strong a sense of entitlement, of ability, of ego, when he was trying to chase her, because he knew he wasn't exactly her type.
He poked her, and she returned the favour with a poke to his cheek and a smile. "A little bit, but it's no big deal. You're dressed very colorfully tonight." He responded, smiling in return. Errol was in an orange t-shirt and blue jeans, not very colorful by comparison. As for her being let, who cared? Since this was a very poorly planned meeting, with so much done on the fly - including this...date, maybe it was? Errol was hardly surprised by her being late, or maybe him being early. Whatever whatever, that didn't matter. What did matter now was finding something to do. Errol could simply write music all night, but that typically made him horrible company.
"Anything in particular you wanna do? Dance, grab a drink...or we could try and build sandcastles!" He added the last bit with a laugh, not serious, but not adverse to following through with that suggestion. "Or we can sneak up on people and poke them, which is always great fun, too."

Listen and wait for theEchoes of angels who won't return Chess wasn't exactly sure as to how this relationship would go being that she did like girls after all, but whatever she was just going to have to go with it. Just had to see what happened and go with it. Still she wasn't exactly sure how she felt about Errol being that she had originally just put him in the annoying friends category. Which, he really could get obnoxious at times, but then he kissed her at Christmas. Where the hell did that leave them then? Ah well she'd figure it out eventually being that this was kind of a trial date for now. Anyway she supposed they should figure out something. Being that they couldn't be stuck in this weird relationship between dating and friends. Ah well that wasn't important at the moment. Nope, what was important was enjoying the bonfire and trying to have a fun time with Errol. Hearing him say he had been there for a while she felt a bit bad, but it wasn't as if they had agreed on a time or anything. So thus there wasn't much she could do about that. Instead she had poked him in the cheek and smiled a bit when he said she was dressed quite colorfully today. "Yep, see I like colors, I just don't always like coloring because it can be quite a pain." she said with a shrug and another smile. Which was quite true, especially if you wanted it to look nice being that you would have to add shading and such to it as well. Anyway though they should probably figure out something to do now that both of them were here. Seeing as that was the point of hanging out. It certainly wasn't to sit around and stare at the ground that was for sure.
As she listened to the suggestions as to what they could do she contemplated a bit. Hm, what did she really want to do even? They could do everything quite honestly being that they had quite a bit of time on their hands. Now, what was it she wanted to do? She honestly had no idea really. Maybe she should make him pick or something. Or maybe she should pick. Though she was rather indecisive at times that was for sure. Ah well maybe they could just do everything then? Along with some other things that could be added later. "We could build a sand castle and maybe swim a bit, and we can dance and get drinks. We can do all of the above?" she said with a slight giggle. Well, they certainly could that was for sure. They definitely had the time to do so, and besides the more time they spent together the more they could figure things out. Besides to most other people it would look as if they were just hanging out per usual. Being that the two of them did pick on one another pretty regularly. Which, she was pretty sure, some called flirting. She didn't consider it that, but maybe Errol did, but then again she didn't consider it flirting because she preferred girls, and Errol was not female. At least, as far as she knew he wasn't female.

There was plenty to do that night, plenty to see. Errol wanted to see and do it all; not just now, but in life. The teenager wanted fame and fortune, he wanted travel and he just...wanted. He was greedy, but he'd tell you, so what? everyone was greedy, he just also had big dreams. Tie the two together and you got something people called greed, but he just called it ambition. He knew what he wanted and dammit, he was determined to go out and get it. The trouble lied in Chess, as much as he wanted a relationship with her, was one of those things that just might be impossible, regardless of his ambition. It forced him to just enjoy what little he had. Frustrating, but...it was called enjoying for a reason. Such as enjoying the oddly colorful display. "Well...colors are good either way. So... colors!" Errol grinned stupidly big, just for the hell of it, and then let the subject of clothes drop with the smile. There was nothing to say, he wasn't some girl who liked to discuss clothes all day. He liked wearing good things, but discussions ended there.
Hearing her additions to his suggestions, Errol nodded. "All of the above!" He decided quickly. "Only, the order matters." He paused a moment to think it through, to create he best bonfire experience. "How about swimming first? That way, we can make sandcastles as we dry off, and then the party will still be around so we can dance and drunk, but then not swim tipsy or wasted, which seems like it could be a very puce idea. " Drowning didn't sound like a good way to end the festivities of the night, that was for sure.
"C'mon, I'll race you to the water!" Errol said with a laugh. Swimming to the music could be fun. And he didn't mean the synchronised swimming sort of thing. He meant just swimming with music in the background. Swimming had plenty of sensation for Errol. Add music and a girl he liked, and he could sufficiently say that would be good. Of course...she had to actually want to swim. "Provided you wanna." He finished, almost sheepishly.
