Height: 5'7"
Weight: 130 pounds.
Eye Color: hazel.
Hair Color: naturally brown.
Build: skinny, pretty muscular and athletic.
Scars: lots of pretty insignificant ones that she's gotten from getting into fights over the years.
Piercings/Tattoos: an arrow tattooed on her pointer finger and a band-aid tattooed on her knee. she has her ears and nose pierced.
Personal Style: charlie has a pretty laid-back but artsy way of dressing. most of the clothes she wears are what some might call a little bit grungy, but that's just what she likes. she wears skinny jeans most of the time, along with either boots, vans or sandals. it's not uncommon for her to run around barefoot, though, either. she leans towards darker colors for some reason, and usually wears tank tops and plaid shirts, or something to that effect. she wears feathers in her hair, too, which probably comes off as a little strange to most people. she wears a lot of different necklaces and bracelets, and is also pretty partial to trench coats and leather jackets.
Appearance: charlie kerrigan has always been the type of girl that likes to break the rules, which comes out a little bit in her appearance. she got her first tattoo the day before her fourteenth birthday, which both shocked and frustrated her mother. sure, both of her parents had tattoo's, but her mom was livid that charlie had gotten it done behind everyone's back. it was simply a band-aid on her knee, which everyone else chuckled at. it seemed fitting, because she got into fights pretty frequently, and sometimes she was less than graceful. she got her nose pierced at fifteen (again, her mother wasn't pleased) and got another tattoo before she turned sixteen. charlie also has an awful lot of scars all over her body, just from random accidents when she was still trying to master sword fighting.
her hair is naturally a very dark brown, but she chose to dye it. she's unpredictable and will change her hair color an awful lot, but doesn't stray too far from the usual blonde, light brown, and dark red. it's usually a combination of those and her normal hair color. charlie doesn't often smile genuinely, but she has a very distinct smirk that she wears when she's either amused or impressed. she's definitely got a beautiful smile, and she's not so much insecure as she is guarded. she's at a pretty average height for a girl of her age, and also fairly thin. she's athletic (if we're forgiving her clumsy instances as a child) and muscular, thanks to all the martial arts, fencing and so on. charlie is both strong and nimble, so her body is quite physically fit.
HOPE AND HORROR
MIXED IN BLOOD
Likes: water, the ocean, beaches, sailing, pirates, stealing things for shits and giggles, guns, sword fighting, fencing, martial arts, reading, independence, adventures, winning, lots and lots and lots of alcohol, and her daddy.
Dislikes: being stuck in one place for too long, whiners, quitters, losing, getting injured, hangovers, ignorance, arrogant men who never think, settling down (or the idea of it), being interrupted, rules, and yogurt.
Dreams: she wants nothing more than to make her father proud.
Fears: alcohol poisoning, her mother in extremely bitchy moods, and fear itself.
Habits/Hobbies: sword fighting and martial arts. she's insanely good at navigating, too, and she loves sailing/pretty much anything to do with the ocean or sea.
Secret(s): none really, but she'll lie about her family to avoid talking about them sometimes.
Personality: perhaps one of the first noticeable things about charlie is the fact that she isn't exceedingly outgoing. it's not that she's completely introverted and shy, but she has a tendency to be more quiet than loud. charlie is an observer. she can be sociable when she wants to, but there's this odd, humble silence about her that seems to make her somewhat respectable. she knows when to keep her mouth shut and, though she has opinions, she isn't the type to shove them down someone's throat or be particularly outspoken about them. while she is naturally good with people, silence seems to be one of her favorite things. she likes to sit back, watch, figure people out, and then act. in this way, charlie is extremely intelligent. all around she's definitely a bright young woman, but when it comes to her school studies, she's never really applied herself an awful lot. she's quick, though, and she's particularly witty when she actually does speak up. her sarcasm and generally joking demeanor are typically how she bridges into getting along with most people that she knows, and while she isn't very outgoing, she still possesses some sort of unexplainable charisma. perhaps it's because it would be almost impossible to picture charlie as a follower.
she is, to put it gently, stubborn as hell. anyone can try to tell her what to do, but it's completely up in the air if she'll listen or not. she has a mind of her own, and she doesn't really give a damn what people think about it. she has definite individuality and a charming, somewhat refreshing sense of independence about her. while she likes to be on her own, she doesn't entirely disregard the people that surround her. she may be stubborn, but she isn't stupid. something that she absolutely can't stand is being in the same place for too long. she gets antsy during classes, simply because she just wants to move and go do something different. she's very restless. she dislikes high school because it's repetitive and boring, in her opinion, and she would rather be out on some great big adventure. she has a rather annoying habit of wandering off without telling anyone where she's going, but she'll turn up a few minutes (or hours later) as if nothing had ever happened. she's adventurous, and will go off on these adventures on the faintest of impulses.
charlie is very daring. she would swear that she has no fear whatsoever, and the fact of the matter that there really is very little that frightens her. she's extremely brave and knows how to keep calm in tough situations, and even though she may be a little reckless from time to time, she is an impeccable and natural born leader. she's just... you know, a teenager. she's quite determined and once she has her heart set on something, she'll stop at nothing to make sure that it happens. of course, there are darker sides to charlie. the girl is very, very, very irish. she's proud of her nationality, and usually celebrates her pride with ludicrous amounts of drinking. she can hold her alcohol, too, but obviously there's some sort of limit. charlie also loves adrenaline rushes, and while she isn't exactly a junkie, she might be growing a little too fond of the thrill.
charlotte is undeniably a little rough around the edges. she's more like one of the guys than a reformed lady, but that isn't to say that she doesn't have her manners. well, sometimes. it isn't unheard of for charlie to steal from people, seeing as she finds it completely amusing (and easy) to rob others. the fact that she's good at it definitely doesn't help. her rebellious nature only encourages most of the questionable things that she does. even though charlie is definitely tough, she isn't the type to go picking fights. she'll usually be the one standing up for herself, and though she'll occasionally go out of her way to piss someone off, she's usually pretty respectful. she's not political and tries to steer away from those sorts of things, but she knows when to act and when to stand down and talk things out. she's much wiser than most people give her credit for.
lastly, charlie has a huge passion for the ocean. being the reincarnate of grace o'malley obviously explains this, but she's very good when it comes to navigating and those sorts of things. she loves the ocean, or any large body of water, really, and that's usually where she can be found (or rather, where she wanders off to when nobody notices). she's also a talented thief, and practically a master at sword fighting. she took martial arts as a child mainly to overcome how clumsy she was, but she took a liking to it, and also reasoned that carrying a sword into school wouldn't fly so well. plus she had to learn how to defend herself somehow. she's a gun buff, and she likes going out to the shooting range when she has the time, though she really isn't sure if her talent in that area will ever amount to much.

History: sawyer kerrigan was pissed. that wasn't surprising, because not only was she pregnant... but she was going into labor on new years day. the entire family pretty much had to put that whole christmas celebration thing on hold for the newest addition, but being a new years baby works out to be a pretty sweet birthday. sawyer and her husband shea decided on the name charlotte sawyer, but even though charlie was named after her mom, she took an obvious liking to her father from the start. as a baby, she clung to him and refused to let go. sometimes she would wake up from a deep sleep and would whine whenever her father put her down, but it wasn't the same for her mother. she was pretty indifferent towards the woman, but charlie always wanted her daddy. which had to be a little tough, because it wasn't like the poor guy could show up to work with a baby clinging to him.
shea worked hard for his family, though, and so did sawyer. by the time charlie was one or two, they were constantly working out arrangements for family or friends to look after the kids, because neither of them had the time. so charlie ended up spending a lot of time with her siblings. conner and erin were both older than her; conner was about ten when charlie was five, and erin was eight. out of the two, charlie got along better with conner. it wasn't that erin was bad, she was just so... quiet. all she liked to do was read her books and write, and charlie found that sort of thing boring. but conner? he was exciting. to charlie, at least. he took after his father quite a bit, and even got to tag along with shea to certain things. charlie was extremely jealous, but by the time she was six, she had taught herself not to cry over silly things. actually, she tried not to cry at all.
something that frustrated charlie as a young child was the fact that she was so painfully clumsy. she hoped that it was just something that she would grow out of eventually, but she always seemed to be tripping over her own feet or losing her balance at the most unfortunate times. erin suggested taking a dance class, to which charlie respectfully replied: "i would rather skin myself alive." she took martial arts instead. she was downright awful at it at first, but she refused to give up. even at six or seven, charlotte was fiercely determined to overcome this whole clumsiness obstacle. and she did, in the long run. it took her several years, but she now has extremely good balance, and an impressive martial arts background. of course, as a child, she didn't exactly use her powers for good. more often than not, her mother (who worked at the school she attended) would find charlie shoving some boys face into the dirt while laughing, seeing that she'd probably just kicked the living daylights out of him.
... well, at least her dad thought it was funny.
from a young age, charlie had always had these insanely vivid dreams. they were never of different things, though... it was always the same. she was -- to put it frankly -- a pirate. in her dreams, at least. but she adored falling asleep, just because it always was so exciting. as she got a little older, she began to wonder if the situation that she had was odd. the dreams always seemed so realistic, and she felt like she really was this woman. she constantly asked her parents when they could visit the ocean. she'd never seen it before (in this lifetime) and it was almost driving her insane. she wanted to see the water and get out of this god forsaken desert that she was stuck in. no dice. her parents didn't have an awful lot of vacation time, and it would've been unfair to the rest of the family if they didn't want to see the ocean.
as she grew up, it became clear that even though charlie was tough, she was also very smart. she didn't try to disguise it or dumb herself down for anyone, and when she skipped the fifth grade entirely, she simply glared at anyone who poked fun at her. some people might credit her older sister erin for her intelligence, considering that erin told her younger sister all sorts of interesting stories that she had read about. she was aware of charlie's interest in the ocean, and did a little research in irish history. she dug up a story on grace o'malley and gave it to charlie, who read it over and over. charlie felt so partial to this woman, almost to the point where she knew what happened in the story before she read it for the first time. she could remember the people and the battles that were mentioned. people couldn't just imagine things like that -- this seemed so real! charlie wasn't sure what to make of all of this, so she got rid of the book on grace o'malley, forcing herself to think sensibly.
but now she wanted to pick up a sword.
sure, she'd been in her fair share of mock sword fights as a child (which she probably kicked some major ass in, but those memories escape her) but at ten years of age, she wanted a real sword. two, actually. she could remember fighting with two swords, and to be honest, she missed it. she'd challenge her siblings to duels with soup ladels and spatulas; she would always win, but her mother was also annoyed that her kitchen supplies were being used as weapons. she eventually did end up with her swords, though, but in a different way than she expected. she started fencing. charlie adored it from the moment she started, and she was beyond being just a natural. she was skilled, like she'd mastered it before... which, technically, she had.
when charlie was twelve, her seventeen year old brother conner told her to pack her bags. she was confused, but went along with what he said. by the time all her stuff was in the car and they were off on their way, conner explained to her that she was going to the ocean. it was a long drive from nevada, but he was willing to get away. plus it got him out of school, but mainly it was because this seemed like something his little sister cared about. he took the heat from their mom, which was completely worth it compared to how charlie reacted. she just stared at the water in awe, completely taken back by how pretty it was. she refused to leave the beach, and conner ended up having to pick her up and drive her back to the hotel room when she fell asleep on the sand. charlie never cried, but she cried for a few minutes when they eventually had to leave a few days later.
ever since then, charlie spent all of her summer vacations at the ocean, along the california coast. she taught herself how to sail, and basically just spent countless hours out there. it was her passion, and it still is. of course, she ended up learning how to surf and such, also, and had a handful of summer flings with various people. it fit her perfectly, because charlie has never been the type of girl to have a steady relationship. sure, as grace o'malley she was married a couple of times, but none of them lasted. charlie herself thinks she's far too restless for anything like that, and who would want to put up with that, anyway? she was perfectly content with her long string of summer romances, but when it came to the school year, she rarely dated anyone at all. the poor guy probably would've been killed by either her brother or father.
charlie was still a rebellious teenager, though. even if she was quite smart, she got in trouble at school for acting up, starting fights or arguing with the teachers. the fact of the matter is that charlie is just restless. she hates school because she'd rather be off on some grand adventure, not studying all these boring things. however, when she was nearly sixteen years old, she was informed by her mother that her father had died. charlie was so upset that she didn't even know what to do with herself. the bizarre thing was that, at first, she didn't cry. she didn't do anything. she just sat in her room and stared emotionlessly at the ceiling, some part of her wishing that this was all a bad dream. her dad would come walking through the front door at any moment and tell her all about how his day had been. but that wasn't the case... and when charlie realized that, she lost it.
she cried for a long time, even though she would never admit to that. the loss of her father shook her up pretty bad, though she somehow managed to hold it together at the funeral, perhaps for the sake of her hysterical mother. however, with the loss of her dad, a secret came out that charlie definitely wasn't expecting. a family that had been pretty instrumental in raising her -- the jacobs -- had a son named murphy. she played with murphy all the time as a kid, and liked him because he so often reminded her of her dad. for a good reason; murphy was actually shea's son. charlie didn't know how to handle the news, but she certainly wasn't ready to embrace him like a brother. instead, she packed up her bags and just turned her back on all of her family problems. she's here in north carolina for two reasons: firstly, to get her mind off of all the problems back home. secondly... well, it's close to the ocean. she's been recruited into RSOR and is a member.
