Riverdale High School was a blessing, all things considered. She'd been a little worried about a boarding school at first. Sure, she'd shared a bedroom before, but her roommate at home, her stepsister, was a mortal terror, and relished in this. Sometimes Andrea was ashamed at the way she let herself be treated, and, by proxy, her younger brother and sister. As the oldest, it was supposed to be up to her to protect Julian and Shelly, wasn't it? How was she supposed to do that when she couldn't even stand up for herself?
At Riverdale, though, it wasn't as bad. Her roommates were cordial enough, although none of the girls seemed overwhelmingly close. As long as there wasn't any bullying or otherwise nasty behavior toward each other, though, Andrea was happy. It was getting to the point where she almost hated to go home for breaks. She loved to see her mother, brother, and sister, and even her stepfather to some extent. Mr. Bowden seemed to be an overall nice man. It was Anabelle and her brother that Andrea couldn't stand. As it was, her stepbrother was in RSOR, and she had to deal with seeing him in meetings. Fortunately, without his sister around, and with others around who would put a stop to his bullying...well, he'd lost a lot of steam. It was almost satisfying, in a way. Both of her roommates were in RSOR too, which was nice.
The sophomore was currently seated in a chair in the common area on the third floor. Just a hop, skip, and jump away from the girls dorms. Her mother had asked her shortly before her freshman year why she'd opted to stay in the girls dorms rather than at home when the family lived so close to the school. Andrea had been close to telling her mother what was happening too, but then her stepbrother walked in and Andrea instantly clammed up, simply explaining that she wanted to experience something new. She didn't think her mother entirely bought it, given that Andrea was normally change-averse, but the woman had other things to worry about with her profession and it was easily forgotten.
Andrea tapped her pen against her chin as she pondered what to write for her essay in English class. She'd opted to go with something that she knew about - First aid methods employed during the Civil War. Who better to address that subject than a former Civil War nurse? As awkward as it was being a reincarnate, it did carry it's pluses at times. Best part was, it didn't even have to look odd. Andrea's mother worked in the medical profession, and Andrea was highly interested in entering that field herself. Again.
The sixteen year old thought she heard footsteps coming into the room, but she barely glanced up before continuing with her work. It wasn't that she wasn't interested in the person, it was that she assumed they wouldn't be interested in her. When she was doing her job, she could bring herself to do all the interacting that she wanted to, but she wasn't working at the moment, and thus her shy, unassuming side was blatantly obvious. If anyone wanted to talk to her, they'd have to approach her first.
