Oliver said something to me today after he had a project in school earlier that day. I was confused and believe me I was startle and stunned. I was swinging on the backyard swing and he came out with a big grin on his face and announe what he found.
"I figured it out."
"You did?" I was stunned, and a bit jealous. I can't believe my brother had solved the mystery without my help.
"Yep. I'm Orville Wright." The boy responded nonchalantly, as if he were simply commenting on the weather.
"I...what?" Did he said Orville Wright? No, please not the same as my life (or death), I was nervous and decided to just be sarcastic.
"I'm Orville Wright. But you can't tell mom and dad. They'd think I'm crazy."
"Can't imagine why they'd think that." I responded, unable to hold back the sarcasm that held my voice. Inside I was freezing. I frozen, and couldn't believe what I was hearing from my eleven year old brother.
"You believe me, don't you? It all fits."
I did believe him, but couldn't say it..... because I was afraid.
I'm ashamed to cause my brother heartbreak at my seemingly unbelieving response.
