A group of scientists (unable to be named for legal reasons) developed a serum that would help to strengthen a pokemon, giving it an edge for competitive battling. However, miscalculations in the formula resulted in very strange side effects – the pokemon became needlessly aggressive, which combined with their added strength, made them extremely dangerous.
The serum caused mutations; many of them visual such as darkened tones, strange markings and black eyes that appear to have no pupils. They believe that it is passed on genetically, which has resulted in a REGION WIDE BAN on breeding these pokemon. However, they seem to be reproducing among themselves and are becoming increasingly common.
Some scientists fear increasing mutations – that the illness could become contagious; resulting in extreme danger for both humans and their pokemon. It seems that the Darkness is spreading – scientists around the world are frantically trying to find a cure for the disease.
Rangers advise all people to have a pokemon of their own to defend them against these creatures, for they will attack human and pokemon alike, which has resulted in the laboratory at Featherwind City giving them away for free. Before exploring the region, it is vitally important to get your own – what will it be?
