and if you start to warm, you can further break the ice… KODI CHANDLER ==================================== Kodi held the paper in front of her eyes, taking in the numbers one more time. Okay, so this whole blind date thing was really quite silly. She stopped a moment glancing down at her clothes and considered if she should go to this. Knowing her luck she would end up with someone who didn’t show up and would make her look like a fool. She once again looked at the paper, wondering if anyone was really going to these date things.
Kodi was a freshman and hadn’t managed to really make any friends just yet. Not really. Mostly she had just conversed with random strangers and tried to dig for information on RSOR, because she had nothing better to do. As a result, she didn’t know anyone who could be her date. The only name that popped to mind of guys she knew at the school was Oliver. And that was only from one conversation and a game of virtual pool. She sighed, trying to put the thoughts of who it could be out of her mind. Instead she put one foot in front of the other.
She was wearing a plaid pink, grey and black skirt. She had accessorized for the skirt. She had a black tank-top on but at the moment it couldn’t be seen because of her black coat. She had a pair of net leotards on under her skirt. Her pink converse had a similar plaid pattern as her skirt on their heels. Her pink scarf was tucked on tightly in her coat, though it was meant as part of the outfit without the coat as much as with the coat. And dangling in her ears was a pair of earrings. A fake metal with little pink beads on them. Her hair was left hanging down around her face, the only thing saving her from looking ridiculously pale in her outfit. Well, the pink helped too…
Kodi moved into Hteb’s Mexican Diner, glancing around a moment. She noticed two teachers at a table together and decided it was easier to ask one of the staff which table she was at. Her paper said Table 14, and she was soon directed. She found the table empty, having arrived a bit early. So she quickly pulled off her coat and proceeded to hang it on the back of her chair before smoothing out her skirt against her butt as she sat down, planting her hands in her lap to wait…Kodi was never very good at waiting. And as the moments passed her fear of not having a ‘date’ show up grew. She didn’t want to be that kid…the one who got stood up. Kodi hadn’t been stood up for anything before. She hoped she wasn’t about to discover what it was like, even if she didn’t know who that ‘date’ was.

SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS METhis whole idea seemed completely bogus to Vaughn. Blind dates, really? What was the Riverdale staff thinking? This had to be the stupidest thing the boy had encountered since starting here in the fall. The Halloween dance had been one thing, and he thought that had been lame. And taking a trip to England? Wow, exciting. (Granted, the whole opportunity of being in his old body again was great, but he preferred not to consider that. It didn’t help his point.) But this, this was really just the icing on the cake. Vaughn didn’t date. He hated it. And they said if nothing romantic came out of this, then maybe you could get a new friend. Well, that was great, but Vaughn hated people.
The latter, obviously, was a complete lie, but Vaughn was just being bitter about this whole experience. It was the romantic thing that got him. He didn’t want a girlfriend. He couldn’t have a girlfriend. He couldn’t handle that. His first and last relationship had ended in such disaster that he didn’t think he’d ever even want to attempt that again. And that was why he had turned into such a total player in the past few years. He simply couldn’t handle it. He didn’t desire true love in the least. So many people spent this time of their lives just searching for true love. But Vaughn? He avoided it at all cost.
And as such, he wasn’t expecting much out of this night. He wasn’t expecting anything at all, actually. Maybe he actually would end up with someone that showed him a good time, whether in a sexual way or just in a regular old friendly way. Maybe he could actually make a friend out of this. But he sure as hell wasn’t going to put in a lot of effort to get even that. Vaughn walked into Hteb’s Mexican Diner a few minutes early. He had been informed that everyone was to arrive early, so he had tried his hardest to look presentable by this time. And looking presentable hadn’t meant much more than a regular outfit for Vaughn. He gave the waiter his information and he was directed to a table... a table with a girl already at it. And a young one at that. Cute, in a way, but Vaughn wasn’t looking for anything like that. Especially not with a.. what, a freshman? She had to be. Vaughn simply cleared his throat, announcing his presence. “Er, hi,” he said, his thick English accent showing through. The foreign exchange student took his seat across from the girl. “I’m Vaughn. Guess I’m your date..?” Hopefully that wasn’t a bad thing for her, right?

and if you start to warm, you can further break the ice… KODI CHANDLER ==================================== Kodi was starting to get to the edge of her patience when the person she was paired with finally showed up. It wasn’t his fault of course, it was hers for being so damn impatient, but also because of her timing. She had arrived a bit early after all. So when a voice finally met her ears, she was relieved just to be getting this one its way.
Her eyes roamed up to see a face she didn’t recognize but was still familiar. Most likely from seeing him around but she was sure he wasn’t a freshman so it would be no surprise if he had no idea who she was. She didn’t know what to make of the circumstances, but she did give a smile. What else was there for her to do honestly? This was going to be one awkward night, and it wasn’t till now that Kodi realized just how awkward.
Her smile probably betrayed the awkwardness Kodi felt as she said ”Hi,”
. She had noted the accent, always a charm to Kodi. She loved hearing accents! ”Nice to meet you Vaughn. I’m Kodi…” She offered, introducing herself. She didn’t really know what else to say. So instead of saying anything more right away she slid over one of the menus that had been left with her when she arrived and opened her own. From behind the menu, Kodi was trying not to be too curious and stare or look over her ‘date’. She tried to keep her eyes down and searching for something worth ordering. But this is Kodi we are talking about—she just couldn’t keep her questions to herself…after all, she had no idea who this guy was or anything about him. ”Are you a Junior or a Senior? I mean, there is no way you are a freshman…and I am thinking you are not a Sophomore either….” Kodi asked, her mouth running on its own.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ==================================== •• Tag • Vaughn Gallagher •• •• Words • 323 •• •• Outfit • CLICK •• •• Lyrics • "Happy Boys and Happy Girls" by Aqua •• •• Note • Sorry it is so late and so short. SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS MEIt was sort of odd how it had just ran through Vaughn’s head that maybe he should have dressed up for this thing. What would he have done if he showed up here and everybody else was in dresses and fancy clothes, and here he was in nothing short of his regular daily wear? Most people would probably be extremely embarrassed. And Vaughn, well, he probably would have felt a little bad, mostly for whoever his date turned out to be. How would she want to be paired with the one guy who didn’t take this seriously? And really, Vaughn didn’t. He already just wanted this night to be over. Dates weren’t his thing, no matter who he was paired up with.
And by the looks of it he’d landed himself with a freshman. “Yeah, I’m a senior,” he answered, as usual mildly conscious of how different he made himself sound from everyone else with his accent. He didn’t mind at all, though. In fact, Vaughn would probably be a little pissed if he went back to England at the end of this year with an American accent, and a North Carolinian one at that. People here didn’t sound anything like Vaughn expected Americans to sound. Sure, he knew that in England, people from different areas sounded differently, and that should be the same in America too, right? But the differences were astounding here.
Vaughn had expected to come to North Carolina and hear the typical American accent, the one you get out of movie stars out west. That’s what people should sound like, right? But the North Carolinians almost sounded... southern. And it was weird for him to adjust to. Hm, maybe that was why they were at a Mexican Diner right now, if everyone sounded so southern. It could happen. “You must be a freshman or something, hm?” he asked. “I have a feeling I would have noticed you around school more if you were older, after all.” Shit, what if she thought he was now targeting her for being a freshman? He hoped he wasn’t. He may not have wanted anything out of this date, but he hoped he didn’t make the night totally miserable for her, either.

and if you start to warm, you can further break the ice… KODI CHANDLER ==================================== Kodi nodded when he told her he was a senior. She had to admit she was a little in aw by the fact that she was paired with a senior. There was always that inner voice that told her that hierarchy in a school mattered and she couldn’t help but feel like a senior shouldn’t even be talking to her. She shrugged the feeling off. She was more than worthy to be talking a senior. She was Kodi Chandler!
Kodi tried not to draw attention to the fact that he had an accent. She found accents appealing but she didn’t want to make him uncomfortable. Though, he did already appear that way. Maybe this whole blind date thing hadn’t been as great an idea as Kodi had thought initially. She tried not to regret the whole blind date thing and her smile never wavered despite her thoughts.
”Yes, I am a freshman…Is that a problem at all?”
she asked, slightly concerned. ”I don’t mind you being a senior…it’s just dinner right?” she added on. Kodi wasn’t seeing it as him insulting her, it was the truth—she was a freshman. She was just concerned that maybe it may be better to end this early and take off than bother staying and actually having dinner. Especially if this was more uncomfortable than it needed to be. SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS MEHierarchy was a funny thing. Though everyone was a freshman at one point in time, and everyone knew how much it royally blew, when they were older, they treated freshmen like shit anyway. It was sort of like since you had to deal with it, then the new freshmen should as well. Freshmen, fresh meat. All that jazz. Vaughn wasn’t so sure he had that right as a senior here at Riverdale, however. After all, he wasn’t from around here. If he’d been going to this school his whole life, it would be a little different. But as a foreign exchange student? Did he have the right? He didn’t feel it was always necessary, that was for sure.
Like this girl here. She wasn’t bothering him, and she seemed nice enough. Did he care that she was a freshman? No, not really, not at all. It wasn’t her fault she’d been born a few years after him, after all. “No, I don’t mind,” he replied, looking up at her from his menu. “You’re not bothering me or anything.” Vaughn smiled softly, amusement on his face. At least his date wasn’t going too badly. He wasn’t so sure he would call it that, though. Kodi’s word usage of ‘dinner’ sounded a lot better to him. Vaughn didn’t date. Ever.

and if you start to warm, you can further break the ice… KODI CHANDLER ==================================== Kodi couldn’t see herself doing that horrible freshman treatment when she reached the upper ranks. She never understood the whole being at the bottom thing but she was sure most of it was within people’s heads. A freshman who thought they were at the bottom were at the bottom right? Kodi even felt that way and she was sure it was all in her head. Kodi didn’t understand the need for that treatment or even the point of it, but some of the older kids did actually treat her poorly…or at least appeared to.
Kodi felt her smile fully form again as he admitted it didn’t bother him. She didn’t care too much if he did care, she would have just up and left. But it was nice to know he didn’t mind. She saw the amusement on his face and grinned for a moment as she pondered the menu a bit more. She decided to just play it safe and get some Nachos. Sure that was so totally boring and wasn’t really Mexican so much as generic but hey…Nachos were good.
Kodi closed her menu and lay it flat in front of her so the staff would know when they were ready. As soon as Vaughn knew what he was eating they would be good to go. ”So..umm..”
Well this was an awkward circumstance. That was for sure. ”What are your interests? …well that sounded lame…” Kodi laughed to herself. SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS MEIt was sort of weird for Vaughn to be here on this blind date thing with a freshman. He may not have anything against the grade level like plenty of other seniors did, but that was probably because he was new here, too. He understood how they felt. Being new was hard. It sucked hardcore, and he didn’t feel like he had the right to treat kids younger than him like shit when he was new, too. But either way, he just hadn’t expected this. Vaughn figured he’d be with another senior, or maybe a junior. Anything but a freshman, really.
But again, he didn’t mind. This girl was decent; she seemed nice. He’d spend this dinner with her. “My interests?” he repeated initially, looking at her in slight confusion, but then he smiled and laughed softly. “No, it’s fine, it wasn’t lame... I, uh, well... I play a lot of video games, I guess... And I like working out... I want to go into the military someday.” He shrugged. There wasn’t really much else to tell her. His main hobby was poetry, but that wasn’t something that Vaughn generally wanted known to the public, especially not someone he just met if anything. “What about you?”

and if you start to warm, you can further break the ice… KODI CHANDLER ==================================== Kodi tried not to let the awkwardness of the situation get the better of her. She had been through way worse awkward moments throughout her life after all. She just reminded herself to shake it off and keep talking. Like she was going to let the awkward air ruin the evening for her. At least she got to meet somebody new? That was a positive right? Right! She needed to keep thinking like that.
Kodi nodded when he repeated back her question. The very first thing he mentioned had hooked her attention…which was always a good thing. ”What types of video games? I like adventure, roleplaying games, shooters and those stupid little games that pass the time but can be put down at any moment…like Pokemon…Anything to keep me from homework.”
She added with a grin. Yes, video games were a topic Kodi knew—but she also knew plenty with regard to other topics. ”Um..reading, doodling, writing, surfing the net, playing games of any sort to be honest and school work—if that counts. I mean, I spend so much time on it; it gets a bit ridiculous—and then other times I procrastinate like doing the project means the end of the world…Oh! And I love board games. And then there is all my outdoors stuff—which I like even better than the indoor stuff. I love Hiking, walking, swimming…and I don’t really mind art either. I guess I can be very diverse in my interests?” she cut herself off before she continued to ramble down the list. She gave an apologetic smile and a shrug. ”That was a bit of a long list...sorry about that…” She added on. She had no idea why she was apologizing for it, but hey, it felt like the right thing to do at the time. She glanced around a moment, checking for a serving staff from the restaurant. ”Do you like Mexican food by the way? I was trying to work out how they decided who was where for dinner…And I can’t seemed to work out a pattern between me and my friends…I am not fussy about what kind of food I like, so maybe they sent us here cause you like it?” She asked. Kodi’s curiosity would one day get her in trouble if she wasn’t careful. But luckily, this time, that wouldn’t happen.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ==================================== •• Tag • Vaughn Gallagher •• •• Words • 393 •• •• Outfit • CLICK •• •• Lyrics • "Happy Boys and Happy Girls" by Aqua •• •• Note • Man, I am making a habit of late posts.
