Know that you could set your world on fireIf you are strong enough to leave your doubts So Skylar had been having a perfectly fine conversation on the phone with Orville Wright, or well, his reincarnation, while doing some routiene checks on a computer tower. Then, all of a sudden the malfunctioning part burst into flames and managed to catch his shirt on fire. It was probably a good thing he had been given the computer when he had being that it could have been a lot worse had it been running in an office when it did that. No he managed to put the fire out pretty easily by smothering it, but it seemed he didn't manage to accomplish that without catching his shirt on fire. He is ashamed to say how long it took him to notice too being that he should have felt his skin burning. Or, at least, you would think he would feel it, but the funny thing about shock was the fact that it kept you from feeling pain until after it wears off. So he managed to put his shirt out, though it was completely distroyed at this point. Though of course there was him shouting random and very colorful curses in French. Isa probably would have swatted him for using such language. Ah well, she wasn't here, and that was probably a good thing being that she had quite the fear of fire. Anyway, he remembered he had a phone conversation with Oliver and picked up the phone to see the boy had either hung up or had been disconnected when Skylar tossed his phone in shock. He was expecting a call back to see if things turned out alright, or at least a text, so might as well take his phone with him while he ran the burn under cold water. He also might as well take his tea with him seeing as it would probably take a while for it to feel better.
Thus he pulled off the burnt t-shirt and kicked off his pants before hopping in the dorm's bathtub in only his socks and boxers. He had the tea sitting on the edge of the tub and turned the water on cold so it would stop feeling like his skin was on fire. He winced despite the fact that it was cooling off and sipped at his tea with a sigh. Yet another burn, and this time he didn't even have a good reason for it. That part was not supposed to catch fire, it was just supposed to smoke a little. Oh well, at least if he simply replaced a few parts the computer would run again, and honestly it was a pretty minor burn. Just a little worse than a sunburn seeing as it had definitely taken off a layer of skin, and where it started it took off a little more, which was why it hurt more than a sunburn would. He'd just put burn cream on it, wrap it up, and go back to what he was doing. No big deal really, or at least not for him. Certainly didn't need to go to the emergency room this time. After all it was just a minor burn and thus he would be sitting there for hours on end waiting for someone to see him. Then all they would do was give him another bottle of the burn cream he already had, wrap it up, and send him home. It wasn't worth the trip or the expense. Besides, then he would have to mention it to his parents and he would get a lecture on how important it was to be careful when working on electronics and all kinds of other stuff that he already knew and had heard a million times. Really, he knew to be careful, it wasn't his fault there were a few mishaps. It happened to everyone at times. There were just some things you couldn't control. Like a malfunctioning part catching fire. He couldn't control that, he could have stopped it if he had gotten the computer before now, but seeing as he didn't he certainly couldn't have stopped it.
A few moments later he heard a knock on the door and was confused by it. Who the hell was at the door? Ah well, he wasn't too worried about it so he might as well respond. "It's open!" he shouted to whoever was out there. Sure that was probably not his best idea, but it probably wasn't a big deal. Seeing as he hadn't gotten a call back from Oliver he felt there was a possibility of it being him. Unless of course the freshman didn't care that he caught on fire. He supposed that was possible too, and he'd have to question his friendship with him then. Anyway, instead of getting up and answering the door he decided to continue sitting in the bathtub drinking tea in his boxers while he ran cold water over his side. No, that wasn't strange or anything. He was kinda hoping it wasn't his roommate who just forgot his key or something. Seeing as it would be slightly hard to explain what the hell happened. Or, well it wouldn't necessarily be hard to explain he supposed, it would just be awkward and embarassing. Especially considering he wasn't wearing pants and he doubted the boy would really wait until he changed for an explanation. Even if he did it would still be awkward to explain. Would be awkward for Sky if anyone walked in right now, but he couldn't avoid that now seeing as he already told whoever that the door was open. Ah well, that was his own fault, but he didn't want to leave someone there knocking for like ten minutes seeing as several people knew he was working on things in his room, and thus might be knocking on his door to ask for something.

Riverdale Boarding High was a very odd place, with some very odd stories. Really, at what other school would Bonnie and Clyde reunite after over 70 years, and Wilbur and Orville Wright after 98? What other school had Joan of Arc and Charles Darwin awkwardly making glances at each other? Jack the Ripper and Elizabeth Bathory making everyone's lives a living hell? The list went on, and it was all because of RSOR. It was also because of RSOR that Orville Wright and Thomas Edison were discussing a fingerprint scanner on the phone. What wasn't the fault of RSOR, however, was the malfunctioning computer tower that cut the phone conversation unfortunately short. Oliver Winchester was left holding the phone while he heard loud crashes and swearing in French, and what sounded to him like some sort of explosion. So, he'd done what any reasonable reincarnated inventor would do - He grabbed the nearest fire extinguisher and high-tailed it out of his dorm with the help of his homemade heelies (ignoring the strange look that Wilbur shot him as he passed by) and down the hall, to where he knew Skylar's dorm was. First Oliver knocked on the door to see if Skylar was conscious. In retrospect, this would probably seem like a silly action, but hey, for some reason it was at the forefront of Oliver's mind at that moment in time. Once he heard the response from Skylar, Oliver's fears were alleviated slightly. He proceeded to open the door, as instructed, still carrying the trusty red fire extinguisher. He made sure to close the door behind him quickly (again, strange priorities, but you couldn't entirely blame the guy when Errol Murdock and Tamara Ramachander seemed to be out to find any additional oddities about him). "You okay?" Oliver shouted out, marching around the dorm in an attempt to find Sky and make certain that he hadn't pulled a complete Joan of Arc. No offense to Isa or anything, but she was really the trendsetter when it came to the recent burn fad at Riverdale High. When Oliver finally entered the bathroom, he simply gaped at the sight that he saw at first. Then he turned away, turning completely red. He was not good with awkward situations. He was not good with awkward situations at all! And walking in on someone sitting in a bathtub in their boxers, friend or not, definitely qualified under the heading of awkward! "So...I take it you're not on fire any more?" Oliver asked, still turned around and still covering his eyes. It may have seemed like a rather silly question, but given the circumstances, any small talk would probably be nice. Because it wasn't just the fact that Oliver had walked in on Skylar in his boxers that was awkward. No, it was the fact that Oliver had walked in on Skylar in his boxers while carrying a large fire extinguisher. That thing was heavy too! Oliver set it down on the ground next to him, figuring that there was no reason for him to leave as of yet (after all, there was something broken around!), but also hoping that Skylar would put his pants back on. Know that you could set your world on fireIf you are strong enough to leave your doubts Today was just not his day it seemed. All he wanted to do was get the repairs over with and have a nice conversation with Orville Wright on the phone. He was obviously not going to get his way with that though being that he had caught not only what he was supposed to fix on fire, but himself. That was going to be fun to explain later. He would probably not tell the owner of the computer for the simple reason of him not wanting them to feel too bad or worry about something that happened on accident. The senior certainly had enough scars to prove that accidents definitely happened. He'd had more burn injuries than anyone he had ever met, just not all of them left a scar. Like this current one would more than likely not leave a scar. If he took care of it correctly it wouldn't at least. If he just let it go it might because it would keep getting irritated, and he definitely wouldn't do that because it would be painful. Anyway it was starting to hurt less thanks to the cold water, but the second he got up it would probably start hurting again. He wasn't looking forward to that so he was going to sit here for a bit just to enjoy the pain free feeling. Though the cold water was soaking him and thus he would have to get all new clothes. Well, he could probably put the same pants back on, but that was about the only thing he could put back on. Everything else was either burnt or soaked at this point. Ah well, some of that was his own fault and some of it was just a mishap. At least he didn't have to worry about explaining this to anyone as of yet. Besides, most people should be used to him having some sort of bandage at this point. He heard Oliver ask if he was alright and he felt himself shrug despite the fact that Oliver couldn't see that. "That depends on your definition of okay honestly." he noted simply. Did okay mean completely unscathed or did okay mean alive?
What he really wasn't expecting was Oliver walking in on him holding a fire extinguisher. So thus Skylar jumped and nearly spilled his tea. This had to be one of the strangest things to walk in on. He noted the boy blush and turn around and Skylar felt himself blushing as well. Thomas Edison definitely did not like to be walked in on in any state of undress let alone while he was drinking tea in his boxers in a bath tub. So yeah, he was definitely blushing at the moment despite the fact that it was a guy that walked in on him and was awkwardly drinking tea while Oliver looked away and set the fire extinguisher down. No, this was totally normal what was he thinking? Yeah, this was probably the strangest thing that has happened to him, and he had to definitely blame the RSOR for this one. Who else could he blame other than the RSOR and himself for telling the boy to enter. Though he had a feeling Oliver would have come in anyway to make sure he was fine. Which, while nice, was currently not really appreciated. A phone call would have been fine honestly, but it was too late for that now. Oh well, he would work with what he was given here. Hearing the next statement he let out an awkward chuckle. "No, though it's going to feel like I'm on fire once I get up." he noted with a sigh. Though he definitely had to get up seeing as the cold water was starting to become uncomfortable to sit in. Setting his, now empty, tea cup down he stood up and grabbed a towel to wrap around his waist before walking over towards his room.
"I'm......going to go put pants on, mind looking for the burn cream and gauze while I do that? There should be a ton of it in one of the cupboards." he asked then stated still blushing before walking out of the bathroom and mostly shutting the door behind him so he could get dressed in peace. Which, it didn't take him long to switch socks and boxers along with find some pants to wear for the time being. Seeing as he would be going back to work on the computer he wasn't going to put on nice pants. Just a pair of jeans with a few holes in them. Now to get his burn wrapped up. He pushed open the bathroom door again and seemed to finally have control of his blushing. Remembering about his phone he leaned over to grab it and winced a bit. Well, yeah he should have been expecting that. Looking in the mirror it seemed the majority of his right side was red and a few spots looked a little worse than the rest of it. Probably where the fire started on his shirt if he had to guess. At least he probably wouldn't have to wrap it on his own being that, while he could, it would be a little difficult to if he was going to try to avoid bending as much as possible. That, and it was always a pain to get it started being that you would either need tape or three hands and he definitely didn't want to use tape at the moment. It was also slightly impractical being that then you would have to pull it off once you unwrapped it and after a while that would probably be painful. Which, it was actually probably a good thing Oliver showed up then though Skylar may not ever admit that with how awkward the situation was when he walked in.

"Yeah...good point." Are you okay really was a silly question when one thought about it, and yet it was always the question people jumped to when someone was hurt. Of course they weren't okay - they were hurt! "How bad is it?" Oliver amended. That question seemed to fit the situation better. Although it seemed a bit vague at first, it also hinted at the fact that Oliver wanted details - Was there a burn? What degree was it? Et cetra, et cetra. Oliver kept his back turned. He had absolutely no intent to make this awkward situation worse, and he could only assume that Skylar felt the same way. This would be the best way to handle things until...the current situation was remedied. When Skylar mentioned that it would hurt when he got up, Oliver had to wince a little. "Guess that answers my earlier question..." Well, sort of. See, Oliver had never actually been on fire. He'd set things on fire in the past - The fence on 7 Hawthorne Street, a computer at home, the shocker in his dorm...but he'd never actually been set on fire. Nevertheless, he did know what a burn felt like. As he heard Skylar getting out of the bathtub behind him, he examined the scars on his own hand. That was pretty much all that remained of the burns he'd gotten a few months before - scars. This was good, as Oliver wasn't too keen on the idea of having his hands covered in blisters for the rest of his life, although the optimal goal was to have the scars gone, or at least scarcely visible, by summer. Even now, in April, he could cover up his hands with a long-sleeved shirt or school sweater when heading to his parents' house. He didn't care if those around the school saw the burns or not - They were out of touch if they hadn't heard about it anyway. It wasn't exactly a secret that Hayden Callaghan had an accident in the chemistry hall that doused both him and Oliver Winchester in sulfuric acid. His parents, on the other hand? Well, Ed might shrug it off...or he might wonder who this Hayden boy was and why on Earth he was skating around in the school. Judy, on the other hand, would absolutely flip. It was her that he wanted to hide the scars from more than anything, although chances were that if Ed knew Judy would know within short order. Once the door was closed, Oliver began to dig through the cupboards. The first cupboard yielded nothing but toothpaste, mouthwash, and floss, but the second cupboard turned out to be golden. He found an abundance of both burn cream and gauze. He thought about perhaps nabbing some to present to Joan as a joke, but then decided against it. She hadn't pulled a joke on him in a while (save for those Wright puns at lunch recently), so he'd save that for a time when he actually owed her some sort of comment or prank. Oliver watched as Skylar entered the bathroom again. Fortunately this time he had pants on, so it was nowhere near as awkward as before. The fact that there was a fire extinguisher sitting in the doorway was odd, mind you, but also might come in handy if the offending computer decided that it wasn't finished. He grabbed the nearest roll of gauze and container of burn cream and then closed the door behind him. Then, he presented the medical equipment to Skylar. He eyed the burn on the other boy, shaking his head. "Doesn't look too terrible, but it looks like there's a couple of spots that could be second degree." Not that he was a doctor, but he did have prior burns to go on - His own and Joan's. Know that you could set your world on fireIf you are strong enough to leave your doubts Hearing Oliver's response he had to give a slight chuckle and winced slightly. Well, laughing moved his ribs and thus moved some skin that was burned. Made sense that it hurt that was for sure, but there wasn't anything he could really do about it. He figured Oliver would revise his question at some point and waited for it calmly while sipping at a cup of tea. Yeah, he was probably much more calm about this than your average person, but then again he had been burned more times than most people he knew. As he guessed, Oliver had a different question for him. "I've certainly had worse, and I wont need to go to the emergency room this time." he noted with a light sigh. That was one good thing he supposed, he certainly had enough burn cream to cover it for months maybe before he would have to go to the hospital. Burns like these didn't last that long though so he would definitely be fine. Besides, he could probably just go ask for a prescription from one of the doctors that knew him there and they would give it to him without too much of a fuss. They'd probably look at it or something, but other than that he doubted they would do much. Not like they ever did anyway. Usually just put the burn cream on it, wrapped it up, gave him instructions on taking care of it, and then sent him on his way. He would have given Oliver more details on the burn, but honestly he didn't know yet. Had really thrown it under cold water before looking at it, besides it probably didn't look the same anymore anyway. Skylar could figure out everything else once he got dressed. Which, he would get up and do that in a moment. Just had to work up the nerve to. Seeing as it would be painful to do that.
So thus Skylar got up and was going to go get dressed now so that he wasn't dripping wet when he wrapped up the burn. He doubted it would be that great to do anyway so thus he would definitely dry off, also would put on pants. Being that wrapping it up in his boxers while Oliver was there would just be overly awkward. Definitely didn't want the situation to be even more uncomfortable for the both of them than it already was so thus he went to go put on pants. He could vaguely hear Oliver looking through the cupboards and figured he would find the right one eventually. It certainly wasn't difficult being that Skylar had a ton of burn cream. Yeah, he had been shocked and burned quite a few times and thus had a collection. He used to go for pretty much every burn until he discovered that they gave him the same thing every time. Thus he ended up deciding for himself when he really needed to go and when he didn't. If he passed out then obviously he needed to go, or if he was bleeding quite a bit from a burn he definitely needed to go. Otherwise though he was pretty sure he could get away with not going to the emergency room. He also didn't want to deal with constant lectures about being careful and such. The boy knew to be careful, it was just things happened at times and he couldn't stop them. So he would save himself an earful and a few medical bills for burn cream and a trip to the emergency room. He had a feeling he'd still get yelled at by a certain hyperactive sait though. Ah well, he could brush her off rather easily, or simply not tell her. She may find out eventually, but hopefully by then they would be healed enough to avoid her wrath.
So, Skylar entered the bathroom once again only this time he had pants on. Which made things considerably less awkward. Definitely a good thing being that he didn't want to continue blushing furiously over something that wasn't that big of a deal. Which being that it was a guy that had walked in on him he really shouldn't have been blushing. He was awkward about that kind of thing though so it wasn't that odd he supposed. Besides, Oliver had been blushing too. He noted that the fire extinguisher was still in the doorway and was hoping he wouldn't have to use it. Really it should be simple replacing a few burnt parts now. If it caught fire then obviously something was seriously wrong with it other than a few messed up pieces. Which, then it was entirely possible he wouldn't be able to fix it. He was hoping that wasn't the case though. He took the burn cream from Oliver and started putting it on the burns. Yeah, it definitely stung a little and he noted that a few of them did look almost second degree. Ah well, he wasn't too worried about it though. It would heal eventually and maybe leave a scar. He had several already so it wasn't that big of a deal. Hell he was almost used to burns on his hands now. They hardly phased him really, and honestly he doubted that was a good thing. Anyway he should probably bandage it up and get back to work. "Yeah I know. That would be where my shirt caught fire. I'll be fine though. Will just hurt for a while. I really hope nobody tries tickling me or poking me in general for at least a week." he noted with a sigh. Definitely hoped that nobody was going to poke him. Even if it was his unhurt side he'd still jump and it would probably cause him pain. He then took the bandage and started attempting to wrap up the burns.

Now that Oliver knew what was up, he'd calmed considerably as well. Before entering the room to check up on Skylar, he had no idea what to expect. He heard loud crashes and swearing, and then a comment about Skylar being on fire. That could mean anything from something as small as his sleeve being caught on fire and patted out within seconds, or he could be entirely on fire. A fire extinguisher, therefore, seemed like a good step - especially given their conversation only minutes prior. Oliver nodded when Skylar stated that he wouldn't have to go to the emergency room. Once again he glanced down at his own burn. "Just don't tell Joan about it or she'll make you go. She did that with my burn a couple of months back, and that one wasn't that bad either." Really, though, the burn itself wasn't that bad. What was more worrisome was how Oliver had gotten the burn. Sulfuric acid in the right concentrations could do more than just burn the skin. Looking at a definition of burn degrees (though he wasn't 100% sure that those applied to chemical burns as well as mechanical burns), his burns looked to be equivalent to the damage done in a second degree burn. He had yet to see Skylar's burn, but the fact that he was able to walk and talk with minimal difficulty was to him a sign that it wasn't that serious (read - third degree). Oliver rested his arm on the fire extinguisher. At least it was coming in handy for something, even if only as an arm rest. Plus, again, on the rare instance that the computer in question burst into flames again, they would be prepared. It wouldn't be Oliver's first time using a fire extinguisher either. He'd used one earlier in the year in his own dorm when his shocker exploded as he was experimenting around with it. He might not have gone to such extremes had Isabella not been in the room and panicked, taking Xelios down in the process. He could have probably just patted it out with a blanket, but he wanted to get it out as soon as possible so as to calm Joan of Arc down. A computer tower catching on fire was a little more serious, as it was a larger device, and therefore could probably spread faster. That and the shocker had been isolated in the middle of the floor at the time, as Oliver had thrown it out of his hands after effectively tasering himself with it, and therefore had nothing else to take with it. A computer tower might have paper, or other highly flammable items around it. Not something you'd want to mess around with, to say the least. "I'll keep that in mind...can't promise I won't make any burn jokes, though." Oliver stated with a small grin. Well sheesh. There were just too many burn jokes to pass up. Plus, nearly everyone in RSOR had made a Wright pun toward him at least once. He liked teasing people right back. It made things more fun. As long as the offenders weren't people like Jack or Bathory, who he still thought should have been permanently locked in a closet in London. In that case...well, he probably wouldn't do much. He hated to say it, but they intimidated him. Immensely. "Least you burned yourself in an area that's pretty easy to hide..." Oliver held up his own scarred left hand with a small smile. Nothing too terrible, in his opinion, but it was enough that his mother would freak, and he knew it. At least Skylar wouldn't have to put up with that, though at least with Oliver it had only been his left hand...his less dominant one. Therefore, he did not agitate it much as Skylar likely would with his. Word count: 662 To: Sky net/Cal Notes: Well, planned on just starting this, and I ended up finishing it. Wewt. ^^

Know that you could set your world on fireIf you are strong enough to leave your doubts He really should have given Oliver more of an idea what to expect, but honestly he wasn't very vocal in English when he caught on fire. If the boy spoke French then he might have had somewhat of an idea. Probably still wouldn't have had a great idea, but it would have been better than just the simple 'oh it caught on fire' Skylar gave him. Which honestly, he sounded pretty calm about so he didn't know why it had been made into a slightly bigger deal. Ok, yes he did being that Skylar had caught on fire along with the computer, but still the boy didn't have to walk in on him. Could have at least knocked or figured out by the fact that the swearing had stopped to guess he was no longer on fire. It probably wouldn't kill him to have a fire extinguisher in his room anyway. Seeing as how things did combust every so often, it just wasn't very often that they did so. Better safe than sorry he supposed. Should probably also invest in fire resistant clothing and one of those fire blankets too. Being that they would probably help him avoid most burns. Well, some he just couldn't avoid, but still he could manage to stop some of them. Would definitely help in the long run. He'd look into it later though. Seeing as right now he certainly had more pressing matters to attend to. Like the fact that he was burnt. That was definitely more important at the moment. Hearing Oliver state that he shouldn't tell Joan, Skylar shrugged. "That's pretty much a given, though she could try and force me but I just wont go. I know when I need to go and when it would just be the same thing I've heard a million times." he said with a sigh. Seriously he had worse burns and thus he could manage just fine with these ones. Not like the doctors were going to do anything he wasn't already going to do. It was also not that serious being that he could move and such and just mostly ignore the pain. He would be taking pain killers in a few moments though.
If the computer ended up bursting into flames again Skylar would just put out the fire then walk away from it. Possibly even throw it out the window in anger. Sure that might be hard to explain to whoever, but he doubted they wanted a computer that burst into flames for no reason anyway. At least it hadn't burned the carpet so he didn't have to explain that to the principal. That was one good thing, and it hadn't even set off the fire alarms. Though it was entirely possible that he had forgotten to put the battery back in the one in his dorm. He should probably look into that to make sure he hadn't seeing as it was kind of important. Another thing he would get to later though being that at the moment it wasn't as important as fixing up his burn. Thus he should probably get to doing that so he could do the other important things that were making it onto his to do list. He should probably start writing them down now before he forgot about it actually, but he figured he could remember for the few minutes time it would take for him to bandage himself up. If not then he should probably get that checked out by a doctor. He was a bit scatter brained at times, but he was pretty sure he wasn't that bad. Maybe when he got older he would be, but until then his memory was fine enough as it was. Couldn't really blame him for forgetting a few things either due to the fact that he had a ton of stuff he had to do. Really he was busier than most other high schoolers he had to say. Definitely barely had time for homework let alone if he were to get a part time job. He would have to cut everything back a little more and hell nobody would probably ever see him and he would probably never get a minute to relax. So thus he definitely wouldn't be applying any time soon.
He gave a playful glare at Oliver when he said he couldn't promise anything about making burn jokes. "Just not around Isa being that then she will pounce me and demand I go see a doctor." he noted simply. Definitely didn't want that to happen being that the pouncing would obviously hurt his side. Though he doubted she would literally pounce him due to the fact that it was Isa after all. Just wasn't in her nature to tackle or pounce anyone like a few other people he knew. Would just have to avoid those people for now. The next comment made him shrug. "This time, I have quite a few that are noticeable when I'm wearing a t-shirt." he noted simply. When he went home again he would probably get hell for them, but at least he was able to mostly tune out the lectures. Not like his dad didn't have scars or something either so it was a tad hypocritical telling Skylar to be careful when his dad did the same thing at times. Ah well, nothing he could really do about that. They were his parents and were just looking out for him after all. Should really not complain, but he was a teenager and thus would be doing so anyway. Just because he could. "It's more likely to get bumped or something though" he noted with a light sigh. That was definitely going to be a pain, literally, for the next few weeks while it healed. He doubted he would be able to keep people from knowing about it due to the fact he would wince if someone poked or hugged him the wrong way.

Oliver had knocked on the door. Well, at least on the door to the apartment. And he'd been invited inside, so of course, he'd stepped inside. Oh well, the most awkward part of all of this was over, and Oliver didn't want to dwell too much on it. When Skylar stated that he even if Joan tried to force him to go he wouldn't, he could not help but grin. "That's what I thought...but she has her ways." The grin on Oliver's face, along with the dramatically raised eyebrow, showed that he was joking. While Joan had been firm with him about going to see a doctor about his burn, at least part of it probably had to do with the fact that it was his first serious burn. Well, that and the fact that it was a chemical burn. Chemical burns behaved different than your average mechanical burn, simply caused by heat. Oliver's skin hadn't really been burned a couple of months back, at least not in the way Skylar's was, or Joan's. No, his skin was corroded. "You think you'll be able to salvage it?" Oliver asked, clearly referring to the computer. He wasn't sure if Edison had just been messing around with the computer, or if he actually had to work on it for someone, but either way, it seemed as though it would be something that the other boy would want to look into before long. And, honestly, Oliver would have not a problem being there to help out. He wasn't sure what Skylar would think, however. One of his nephews, as Orville, complained that it was hard to work next to him because he'd want to get his hands on what other people were doing. Being reborn hadn't exactly changed that, since most of this came from a trait that he still very much possessed - An immense curiosity and fascination with discovering how everything worked. Well, at least mechanically. He wasn't much concerned with the structure of poems, for example. Oliver chuckled when the subject of the flaming maiden came back to the forefront. "I won't, so long as you don't initiate any Wright puns, or flight puns around here. She already does them enough herself, she doesn't need to be spurred on." Though even this was stated with an amused grin. For all the glares he shot people at Wright puns, for the most part he enjoyed them, and saw the humor in them. He was human, though, and sometimes (especially if he was worried or otherwise annoyed) he did find it annoying. But Joan likely found some of his comments annoying at times too. It was just the way things worked. Least she wasn't calling him Extra Butter yet? Oliver didn't have the same luxury with his parents. His parents would ask questions big time, and neither of them were 'tinkerers' either. His father was an office manager, so while he was decent with coming up with computer presentations and the like, he didn't fiddle around with much that fell outside of his job. His mother, on the other hand, was a nurse - who, again, had experience with technology in her job, but didn't fool around with it much outside of her job. It made Oliver miss his first life in that respect. Susan Wright had been a tinkerer herself, often messing around with their household appliances for her own amusement. His mother often encouraged him in his endeavors. It didn't mean that she didn't get exasperated when he made messes around the house or accidentally lit the fence on fire, but she supported her children in their endeavors for the most part. Oliver made a face at the mention of it being bumped. "Good point...and people won't know to watch it because it's covered up." That last part seemed like trouble waiting to happen, with some RSOR members. Know that you could set your world on fireIf you are strong enough to leave your doubts He probably shouldn't have told Oliver to come in being that he had no idea who it was at the time he was letting in, but oh well. At least it wasn't Tamara or something, though he had no idea why she would come to his room. Or hell, if it had been Isa that would not have been pleasant. It still wouldn't be due to the fact that she would definitely yell at him to go to the emergency room or something when it was only a second degree burn. He couldn't blame her for it though being that she did have a good reason to be afraid of fire. Just as he had reason to be afraid of diabetes. Which would be why he was an obsessively healthy eater. So he could respect her reasoning, he just didn't want to follow orders from it. Hearing Oliver he just shrugged a bit. "I'll ignore her ways. My opinion matters just as much as hers so if I don't think I have to go she should respect it." he noted simply with a bit of an eye roll at Oliver's joke. Besides, she had probably jumped on Oliver about it due to it being a chemical burn and not a fire burn. Not like she would go after someone for simple sun burn or whatever. Chemical burns were more serious though due to the fact they ate skin rather than just burned it like fire or electricity did. Though even those burns were slightly different from one another in nature. He had gotten both enough to know how to tell when he needed to go see a doctor though. Seeing as a few times if it was electrical something would go numb for a bit. Which was just because his nerves ended up shocked or whatever. He still went to see someone about that though due to it having a possibly lasting effect if it wasn't looked at.
Hearing the next question Skylar looked over at the computer and gave it a light glare for bursting into flames on him. "Oh, definitely. Just have to replace the parts of it that fried. Not a big deal really. I have plenty of spare parts in or on my desk. I could probably build the damn thing from scratch if I really wanted to." he noted simply before walking over and blowing on the burnt pieces to see if they were still hot coals. If they were he certainly wouldn't be touching them that was for sure. Not without a hot pad or something at least. He was crouched down and put his hand near the pieces to see if he could feel any heat coming off of them. Didn't seem so and thus he just popped the parts off and threw them in the trash. Hearing about the Wright puns, Skylar gave a slight chuckle. "They are much too easy, but I will try and stop myself." he noted teasing a bit. It wasn't a pun so Oliver couldn't comment on it. He never said he couldn't tease him about anything else after all. Well, it seemed he just had to put on the new pieces now and turn it on to see if it worked. That wouldn't take too long, and just so long as there was nothing else wrong with it then it should be done in no time at all. He knew Oliver would want to help though, so might as well give him something to do. "If you want to check for any other possibly broken pieces while I look for replacements for the burnt ones you can go for it. Sometimes it helps to have more than one person look at something" he noted simply with a slight smile before walking over to his desk and looking at the different lables to search for the parts he needed. It was a good thing he did lable them being that otherwise he doubted he would ever remember where everything was. There was a ton of stuff in his desk after all so it was kinda reasonable for him to forget sometimes.
He realized already that the burn was going to be an issue. Just moving around his dorm was slightly painful. So while he was up he was going to grab himself some pain killers and see if it helped any. If it did he might be taking them like candy for the next week or so until it stopped hurting, or until it healed. He didn't think it would take too long being that it wasn't too bad, but the few spots where it was second degree would probably take longer than the rest. Ah well, he would just have to deal with it and hope it wasn't going to get irritated too much. He seriously doubted that though being that he knew quite a few people that would want to poke or hug him randomly. Which would not go over well with him. Yeah, he'd probably just end up swearing in French or flailing and shouting nonsense. Skylar found the parts he needed and set them aside before going and grabbing a few pain killers and taking them. He brought back a second bottle of water and offered it to Oliver after setting his own bottle on an end table along with the computer parts. If the boy was going to stay here might as well be a good host to him. Then he heard the bit about people not knowing to watch out because it was covered up. "Yeah, that could become an issue real fast. I'm not too worried about it because not a ton of people will randomly poke or hug me, but it is still a bit of an issue." he noted with a bit of a sigh.

Oliver knew from experience that both Tamara and Errol could go to great lengths when poking their noses where they didn't belong. The major reason Errol had connected the dots, after all, was the fact that he pushed his way into Oliver's dorm and starting looking around without permission. On what planet was that not a complete invasion of privacy? Sure, a small argument for Errol could be made in the fact that Oliver didn't really protest at first (though Oliver would defend himself by stating that he was too stunned to do much of anything else), but he'd still poked his nose into a place where it didn't belong. He was not invited in by any means, he'd invited himself in. This was different. Skylar had invited Oliver into his dorm. And now that the weirdest part was over, Oliver didn't entirely mind. "Where are your roommates?" Oliver inquired, more as a way to make conversation than anything. He didn't know who Skylar's roommates were, though he hoped for Sky's sake that they at least were other reincarnates. Oliver was grateful for that privilege himself. That and the fact that one of his roommates was not only his roommate, but his past brother. He was beyond thrilled with how that turned out. Oliver didn't push the issue about Joan. He could tell that by the eye roll that Skylar was getting a little annoyed, and he wasn't going to push it. The freshman followed the senior's gaze to the offending computer. Instead of glaring at it, though, Oliver looked contemplative. As for Skylar's response to the Wright pun note...well, he expected as much. Oliver would no doubt make burn jokes, and Skylar would make Wright jokes. Such was the consequence of having a last name with three homophones. Not even his first name was safe, as a result of a certain microwave popcorn manufacturer. His relative annoyance at this predicament faded instantly when Sky invited him to take a second look at the computer. Now this was something that he could take interest in! Oliver stepped forward with a grin as he began to look at the computer. Soon the grin faded into a more contemplative expression, and every once in a while the fifteen year old would tug or push on something, apparently testing its durability. Computers weren't his number one game, but tinkering was tinkering, and Oliver enjoyed it. He wondered just how many spare parts Sky had lurking around the apartment. He wasn't sure if the other RSOR member could really utilize as much space in his apartment, being that he didn't know who Sky's roommates were. If he roomed with two reincarnates, then he could put his stuff virtually anywhere without a problem. If not, he might have to be more careful... ...then again, Oliver reasoned, Skylar had a reputation as a techie, and had two parents that he could have learned these skills from. Skylar was luckier than Oliver in that regard, and it almost made Oliver want to make out that his father was some sort of rocket scientist so that non RSOR students at Riverdale would stop bugging him so much. Well, not all non RSOR students. Errol, Tamara, and Kodi specifically. Knowing them, though, they were trying to recruit more members. He just hoped that none of the normals that he considered friends (which consisted of Hayden and...um, Hayden) would be drawn in. Then Oliver might have more to worry about. Then again, Hayden didn't seem like the type to get involved in that sort of thing, especially given that he was dating an RSOR member and she could probably pass off any of the questions that came into Hayden's mind about RSOR. Oliver looked up when Skylar offered him a bottle of water. Oliver, not being one to refuse hospitality, accepted it immediately. He unscrewed the cap and raised the bottle to his lips, taking a few gulps before setting the bottle back down. "Thanks." He hadn't really noticed being thirsty before, but now that the stimulus was there, the thirst was there as well. Go figure. "I can name a couple of people who might do something like that..." Joan, for one. "Could enlist Echo to teach you martial arts to keep away anyone who might try to touch you, if worse comes to worse? Better than a 'keep away' sign. Especially when half the time people don't read signs anyway..." Word count: 759 To: Sky net/Cal Notes: You know, I kinda want something to explode or catch aflame. Simply so that the poor fire extinguisher that could gets some use out of it. Fire extinguishers need love too, ya know.

Know that you could set your world on fireIf you are strong enough to leave your doubts Skylar was definitely glad he could get away with his electronics stuff around normals as well as reincarnates. If he had to hide it, like Oliver was supposed to, then he would probably go nuts. Seeing as if he didn't have reincarnated roommates then it just wouldn't work. For now though they hadn't put any in his room (for sake of timeline) and thus he could do whatever he wanted for now. That would probably change at some point, but if it didn't then Skylar wasn't bothered by it in the slightest. He would just continue to do what he wanted whenever he wanted. Which meant he was up cooking food at one in the morning some nights and up working on a personal project at one in the morning another night. Made no difference to him what time it was he was going to be productive if he wasn't already asleep. Which, many times he fell asleep on his keyboard or on a chair somewhere in the dorm if he had been doing something. Every so often though he would go to bed at a relatively normal hour. That was only when he had been up late for a few days though and needed the extra sleep. Which happened rather often. Sure his sleep cycle was insane, but he managed to make it work and that was the important part. Though it would probably have to change once he was assigned roommates. Which would not be easy seeing as he had grown accustomed to it already. Hearing Oliver's question Skylar gave a slight smile. "Haven't assigned me any yet. That will probably change soon, but until then I'm not complaining" he noted with a bit of a smile. Certainly made it easier on him seeing as he could do whatever he wanted. Hell, he could act however he wanted too and didn't have to be polite, or neat for that matter though he was anyway. He really was a rather odd teenage boy even he had to admit.
Now, all he had to do was fix the computer and then he could relax and do whatever for the rest of the time he had set aside to fix the stupid thing. Hell, if Oliver was going to stick around he could probably work on the fingerprint scanner a little bit, or let him look at his book collection to see if he wanted to borrow any on electronics. Sure he wouldn't be able to read it outside of his dorm, but it would give him something to do when he wanted to tinker and couldn't due to a certain group of snoops. That should help a little at least he hoped. Though right now, due to it being Skylar's room, he was going to let Oliver tinker with the computer a bit. Nobody would find it suspicious to hear tinkering going on in his room due to him being quite well known as a technical kid. Thus as long as Oliver wasn't yelling or something it wouldn't be suspicious at all. Though he should really stop thinking about it and do it instead. Seemed Oliver was definitely happy to fiddle with the computer while he looked for the parts. Not like it would take him long, but might as well teach the boy something if he didn't know too much about computers. Which, he was pretty sure flying was more his cup of tea so maybe he hadn't gotten around to playing with computers as much. Only reason he had was to keep up with technology. Hell he'd taken the house phone apart a few times to figure it out and while his parents weren't exactly pleased, they didn't mind too much being that someone in the house could put it back together if Edison couldn't. Which, usually he figured out how to eventually. Just took him a bit of time to remember all the parts and where they went. Which would be why he started writing it down. He had a book full of instructions on putting things together somewhere and it was all hand written. He hadn't quite finished the fingerprint scanner one for pretty obvious reasons. Mainly because it wasn't done yet.
So thus he ended up offering Oliver a bottle of water and it seemed the boy was thirsty. Really he should have asked earlier, but then again it was a bit distracting having to fix his burn and all. Which reminded him, he should probably put a shirt on to avoid his bandage or flesh catching on fire somehow. So thus he went and grabbed another t-shirt. He put it on and went back over to Oliver before remembering something else he wanted to look at. So thus he grabbed the fire alarm off the wall and checked to see if it had batteries. Well, apparently it didn't. He should probably fix that. "You're welcome, and I can too. I don't think I need to go to that extreme though. Besides, it wouldn't work anyway. It takes months to learn that type of thing." he noted now searching through his drawers for a nine volt battery. He was bound to have one around somewhere. It was just a matter of where. "Do you work with computers much?" he asked casually. Hey, might as well have a decent conversation, and if the answer was no then certainly Skylar could teach him something. Now if only he could remember what he did with his batteries. Certainly he used them for enough things to have extras lying around or even the one that came out of the smoke detector. "Do you see a smoke detector battery over there anywhere? I can't remember where I put it." he said with a bit of a frown. Definitely needed to find it before they checked it and noted it was missing. They would probably accuse him of smoking in the room or something ridiculous like that. Really it was just because it had gone off during one of his escapades and he had turned it off then forgot to turn it back on.

Oliver, on the other hand, had grown accustomed to having roommates. In his first life he'd had four siblings, which meant that on more than one occasion he'd had to share living quarters with someone. On the other hand, he'd lived alone for almost twenty years at the end of his previous life. In addition, he'd never had to share a room in this life either, being that Cindy was a girl and there were only two children in the Winchester family, thus meaning that as long as their house had three bedrooms, they were safe. Having roommates wasn't all that bad, though, especially now that Oliver had the knowledge that both were reincarnates - and one was someone he'd had experience rooming with in the past. On the bright side, at least Skylar didn't have to worry about setting anyone else on fire at that particular moment? "They haven't assigned you any? Interesting. I can't say I want to complain about my living arrangements. I think Darwin might have a few complaints about Will and I, but honestly, we've been trying to tone it down lately. Plus I gave Xelios some earplugs for his birthday." He was glad that Xelios had accepted the ear plugs. While Oliver was going to try to tone things down when Xelios was trying to sleep, sometimes it was hard. Tinkering could sometimes get noisy, especially if both brothers were tinkering at the same time. More often than not arguments would erupt. It wasn't as though their arguments were terrible - There were never any hard feelings toward each other. They just bantered back and forth, exchanging ideas, and sometimes doing what they were famous for when it came to arguments - Swapping perspectives unintentionally in the middle of an argument. Oliver downed a few more gulps of water before pulling off a burnt piece of plastic from the computer and tossing it aside. It didn't look as though the part was very important anyway - Simply part of the casing. Oliver was no computer expert, but he wasn't a complete fool when it came to computers either. They just weren't his forte. Contrary to popular belief, flying wasn't the only thing that Oliver Winchester was interested in. Yes, it was his specialty, so to speak, but he had other interests as well. Almost any piece of technology, whether it was around in his first life or exclusive to this life, was full of possibilities. He glanced up and noticed Skylar heading over to check on the fire alarm. Oliver stole a glance over at the fire extinguisher he'd brought into the room. Well, if worse came to worse, they had that, but fire alarms were a good thing. His past father had even joked in a letter to his older brother, Reuchlin, that fire departments came in handy as a result of his own antics. So yes, a non-working fire alarm was a problem for Riverdale High, considering there were a few tinkerers staying in the dorms. "Not too much. I've done a little work with them. Took apart Ed's computer when I was seven. Only problem was that I didn't know how to put it back together. Same thing happened with a typewriter I took apart before." He'd taken apart a few other computers as well, simply for the sheer fun of it. However, the fact remained that he didn't know much about them. Even the basics that he knew were probably more than the average person, but certainly not as much as Skylar probably did. When Skylar asked him if he'd seen the smoke detector battery, Oliver raised an eyebrow. "Should just take a nine volt, shouldn't it?" Again, known from his experience as a child taking random stuff apart. The pretty circle on the wall with the blinking lights had caught his attention, so he'd gotten a chair and climbed up, unscrewing the bolts and opening the thing up. He probably would have gotten further in his endeavors had he not accidentally tripped the alarm when trying to unscrew the compartment above the batteries, thus causing his parents to come running into the room wondering what was going on. Thankfully, it wasn't a fire (in this life and the last, he'd set a couple of those), though the sight of a six year old boy seated on a chair under the stairs prodding at a fire detector with a screwdriver hadn't been the sight that they were expecting. Though one might question the fact that the Winchesters were expecting an actual fire over simple tinkering... Oliver looked around for any sign of a nine volt battery (or battery period, though he was pretty sure that a fire detector would take a nine volt, again, from prior experience). He spotted one just a few feet above the computer case that had combusted. "Here's one." He tossed the battery to Skylar. Word count: 839 To: Sky net/Cal Notes: Mmm, fire detector

Know that you could set your world on fireIf you are strong enough to leave your doubts Skylar didn't mind his roommates, seeing as he did have six older siblings in his past life and thus would have had to share a room at some point in his life. He didn't in this one thanks to having a younger sister, but that was fine with him. Though he did get used to it in this life, which meant he had to get used to having people around again. People that may or may not ruin the room seeing as he doubted he would be without a roommate forever. There was also the chance that one or both wouldn't be reincarnated. That would make things rather annoying and hell one of them could end up being anti-rsor if that was the case. Sharing a room with one when he was on the leader's panel would be a nightmare and he would end up requesting a room change of some sort. Didn't mean they would agree to it, but he could at least ask if that happened. He knew the principal would understand if nobody else did. So he could possibly ask her. Sure he was polite, but if they bugged him at all hours he would lose his temper and possibly end up in a fist fight despite the fact that he wasn't really built to win one. He would get maybe one hit and then would end up pinned on the floor or something. Or maybe he could just win by size, but that would be a fluke and pretty illegal considering he was now technically considered an adult. Anyway, that wasn't really important at the moment, and if the situation came up then he would figure it out then. He should probably be more worried about the damn computer catching fire again. Though he highly doubted it would. Other things were questionable though. Like the fingerprint scanner. Though it shouldn't if he wasn't messing with it, but you never knew with that thing. It was kinda evil at times. The fact that he was missing a few fingerprints was proof of that.
Hearing Oliver he looked over and shrugged. "No, but they will eventually I'm sure. Just have to have new students or something, which we almost always get. Sometimes they are reincarnates, sometimes they aren't. Either way though they will just have to deal with my schedule being that I have seniority." he noted with a simple shrug. Which, it was true, he was in the room longest and so he had a few rules already set that he was used to and it worked for him. If they couldn't deal with it they could be the ones to bitch and complain to get a new room. Wasn't as if he cared if they liked him, just so long as they left his stuff alone. If they didn't, well then of course he would be pissed. He supposed he should probably at least be nice to them to start. Ah well, when it came up he'd figure it out, and until then he was going to continue doing whatever he wanted in his room. Seeing as it was his until he was forced to say otherwise. He noted that Oliver was drinking the water again, and picking at the computer, throwing another burnt piece out of the way. It was already on his list to replace as part of something else. So he had the parts already set aside for it. Anyway he had other things to attend to at the moment while Oliver was poking at the computer. Which may or may not be a good idea to let him do. Sure Sky could always bust out the diagram if he didn't remember where something went, but that would take considerably longer than planned for. Seeing as he would have to find the exact make and model within one of his many binders full of them. Sure they were organized, but it would still take a while to find the right binder. Hopefully though Oliver wouldn't take the thing apart and instead would just look at how it worked. He wasn't going to completely bet on that though.
Hearing Oliver talk again he looked over at him. Seemed the boy had a thing for taking things apart. See he did that once or twice but then his parents wanted to stab him so he learned how to put things back together. "You tend to write things down after getting screamed at for such things. Computers I took apart a lot. Every time we got a new one, and the ones in the school and computers my friends had. That is, if they trusted me to put it back together or if they were getting rid of it anyway. I have quite a collection of drawings from taking apart computers." he noted with a shrug. Yeah, he learned to write things down fast because otherwise there would be screaming and he wasn't a fan of screaming. Especially when he was a kid and his mother terrified him. Which, sometimes she still did but mostly he tuned her out while she was on speakerphone and he was fixing something. Oliver noted that the smoke detector should just take a nine volt and Sky looked over at him. "Yeah, it had a battery, but it went off one day and I took it out so that they wouldn't evacuate for something stupid. Forgot to put it back though." he said before giving a slight yawn. It had been a long day and he really didn't feel like searching for the damn thing, so might as well make Oliver do it for him. Besides, he was over there and he was pretty sure he had left it in that general area. Which, it seemed he was right being that Oliver found the battery and tossed it to him. He went to catch it and failed before blinking and picking the battery that had hit his shoulder up. "I need to work on my coordination apparently." he muttered irritably before putting the battery into the detector and throwing it back on the wall. "Now, to fix this stupid computer so I can do nothing for like half an hour." he said stretching out his shoulders as he did so.

Oliver knew from experience that sharing a dorm with fellow reincarnates made things a lot easier. He hoped that when the next year rolled around, he'd be at least partnered up with Wilbur again. He suddenly realized that he wasn't entirely sure how dorm assignments worked at Riverdale. He obviously had no choice in the matter going into his freshman year, as he had not even stepped foot into the school yet. However, could older students put in requests for who they wanted to room with? To Oliver it made sense, but the fact that it made sense only led him to believe that the school probably had no such policy in place. Though maybe he was just bitter from his unfortunate arrangements on Valentine's Day. Oh well, he still had plenty of time to figure that one out. "Well, hopefully you get paired with reincarnates, and hopefully they're easy to get along with. I'd hate to get paired with someone like Errol." Actually, pairing him with someone like Errol was only asking for all the secrets of RSOR to be exposed. To be fair to Oliver, though, it really wasn't his fault that Errol and Tamara had stumbled so close to his secret. Tamara was eavesdropping when she overheard Lenita call Oliver Orville, and Errol busted into the dorm without so much as an invitation. Add that up with Oliver's difficulty in dealing with awkward situations, and there was a recipe for disaster. The freshman merely shrugged at Skylar's statement about senority. Rarely did he have that privilege himself. Second youngest in his family in his first life and youngest in this life. Not to mention he was a freshman, making him automatically one of the youngest in most of the activities her participated in at Riverdale. Still, he could see Skylar's point, and was hoping that his roommates were the type that wouldn't put up a fight. Now that would be frustrating, especially during such a busy time of year. "I write things out sometimes. It does help." He did have his notebooks after all, his most recent of which had gotten him in trouble a couple of times. On the bright side, this most recent notebook had also led to being reunited with Wilbur, and realizing that in fact his past brother was right under his nose (or, well, under his bunk) at Riverdale. Oliver would also likely be a little insulted if he'd heard Skylar's thoughts on the matter, and his worries that Oliver might screw things up. Oliver knew that he could usually at least hold his own when it came to machines. Perhaps this was why, when he tossed the battery, it was a bit harder than he'd intended it to be, which likely had an impact on how well Skylar was able to catch the battery. Oliver couldn't deny that he felt the tiniest bit of satisfaction at seeing Skylar fumble. It was a small enough jolt that he was able to hide it, however, and instead he let out a light laugh. "Some sort of sport? I'm not suggesting become a hockey player or anything, but jogging or bike riding or something might help improve your coordination a bit." Leave it to a former bicycle shop owner to suggest biking as a method to improve someone's coordination. "Think of it this way - Practice your coordination and you won't have as many incidents with screwdrivers slipping and stabbing you in the hand." Oliver had a few of those himself - It was bound to happen when someone was working with machinery as much as he was (or Sky, or Will, or any of the other tinkerers of RSOR). For the most part, though, he had decent coordination, unless his mind was on something else (hence how he'd almost stabbed himself repeatedly at the wax museum). He wasn't sure if Skylar actually needed the help, but he figured a little advice might be nice. Plus it was a way to drive home the point that he knew quite a bit about these sorts of things as well. When Skylar mentioned working on the computer again, Oliver's gaze turned back to the tower. At first, all looked normal, and Oliver wondered if he should perhaps take his leave. Then he noticed what looked to be a thin line of smoke rising from the already damaged computer tower, along with a slight scent of burning plastic. "Has it been doing that the whole time...?" Oliver questioned, pointing out his observation to Skylar. Oliver didn't think it had, but he didn't want to jump to any conclusions, especially when this wasn't his computer tower, nor his dorm. Word count: 806 To: Sky net/Cal Notes: Hope it's okay that I made reference to that smoke. XD If not, I can change it, just let me know. ^^
